Wait... this might be my new favorite festival in town. Reasons to love this fest: - it supports Arts 4 Learning, a local arts-focused nonprofit - it's small and intimate. Forget the thousands of ticket sales, this is much smaller, which means more intimacy with the businesses - smaller lines (if any, at all) - vegetarian options!!! I was so ecstatic that nearly all of the food vendors had a vegetarian option. - non-alcoholic options. Some people aren't huge beer drinks like me so it's refreshing that they had Circle Kombucha and Tinker Coffee My favorites of the evening: - Pots & Pans desserts - Tinker Coffee's 5-spiced oat milk cold brew latte. Honestly, this might have been the best coffee drink I've ever had. Can't wait for them to open up their storefront and sell that perfect drink! - Blind Owl's vegetarian pizza

So fun! Brozinni Pizza is so very good! So is Bebo. So is hops and fire. And.. all those vendors in the picture. This night was great fun. I was able to go on a last minute request. And I simply had a great time! Need and pizza, what could be better!

What a fun night! Check in was a breeze and the set up had great flow! We loved trying the various breweries new to us but loved visiting some tried and true ones as well. I was mad about the Two Deep Cream Ale and Ash and Elm was tastefully presented and unique! Bronzinni pizza was killing it as noted by their consistent long lines but amazing garlic knots-worth the wait! (We even took one to our Uber driver!) Contributing to Arts 4 Learning was the icing on the cake...or the cheese on the pizza in this case! Insert nerdy snort-laugh here.

Calling all pizza bad beer lovers. Pies and Pints was an awesome event located at the Ivy Tech Conference Center. The venue was just the right size to fit the perfect number of breweries and pizza places. The vibe was super casual. I spent the majority of the night casual walking between booths grabbing samples. There was even a DJ! There were about 20 breweries and 4 booths serving pizza. There were TONS of awesome beers from places like Twenty Tap, Metazoa, Indiana Brewing Co, etc. The best pizza was by far from Brozini's. I would consider myself a pizza expert and let me tell you, this pizza from Brozini's was life changing. I think it was the ricotta cheese that made it! The knots (aka breadsticks) were also super tasty and came with an awesome buttery dipping sauce. I wished I would have saved room in my stomach for more Brozini's!!

On (2/28/20) was my first time going to the Pies and Pints event which is for an excellent fundraiser by Arts for Learning, and the fundraiser has been going on for 5yrs, and it's benefiting the youth of Indianapolis focusing on the creative as well as intellectual through arts integrated education. I was very lucky to be one of the Yelp Elites winners who attended the event on a cold Friday night. There were a lot of goodies passed out from the sample glass, a plastic closed cup you could take with you at an event outside. There was plenty of pizza to sample, delicious sugar pie from Pots & Pans Co. I learned the difference between Lager beer & IPAs. When, I was sampling the IPAs it was a very bitter taste to me, but when I went to the Sun King Brewery stand a young lady which I forgotten to get her name was very helpful. I was informed for Lager beer look for IBU 24 less is easy to drink, and not too bitter. As, far as the pizza I was really in love with The Missing Brick seafood pizza without their sauce, and Brozinni delicious pizza which was hot and fresh. I only stayed there for 1hr & 30mins so I don't know who were the winners. Overall, great Pies and Pints event for the great cause for the youth of Indianapolis.

What a fun event! This is a fundraiser to raise money for a great cause and you get to eat pizza and drink beer on a Friday night. What more could you ask for? A few years ago I was introduced to Brozini's at this event and that was life-changing. They won again this year and it was very well deserved. I also was introduced to another great place- Hops and Fire. Their Gold Pig pizza was incredible. The event is super casual and the crowd is great. I would recommned this event to anyone especially if you are a fan of the arts, pizza and/or beer. There is someting for everyone here.

    Super tasty food and beverages.

I love the many different options that they have available, but at the same time, it might make more sense to have some activities that involved a lot of people (ie a bigger/better dance floor or something of that matter). I can't even begin to imagine how they go about this task! Adult Swim is a benefit event held at the Children's Museum. Only in its second year, someone decided the first year was a smash hit because tickets increased by $15 this year (or maybe that was the surcharge for cleaning). All tickets sold out though, so that's a good sign! I'm not really sure who the benefit was for though.. maybe some additional information about that next year would help raise even more money Unlike other events I've been to, this one didn't FEEL like the event was sold out. Lines for some of the food and drink tables had a few other people in them, but the event planners did a great job of making sure there were enough tables and enough room that everyone could have a good time. Really, the night was about being a big kid in the museum into the night, and everyone I was with had a blast! Here's hoping next year is just as great (and not about $15 bucks more expensive per ticket!)

This sculpture is the work of Timothy Schmalz, a Canadian sculptor and devout Catholic, who was commissioned by Roberts Park United Methodist Church to create this bronze sculpture in 2015. It also goes by the name Jesus the Homeless. As nice as it is, this piece is not one of a kind. There are a bunch of them placed all around the world, well over 100. The original was made in 2013 and is located at Regis College, University of Toronto. Other locations that you will find the sculpture include Australia, Singapore, Israel, South Korea, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Columbia and the Dominican Republic to name just a few. This sculpture is very realistic and detailed. Which brings me to a funny story. In October 2020, police in Ohio were dispatched to a report of a homeless man sleeping on a park bench. Ironically, this call was made within 20 minutes of the Homeless Jesus sculpture being installed. Yep, some called the police on the statue. I will admit, I had to do a double take to make sure it was not real when I saw it. And you are certain to be fooled if you are driving by. It should be noted the the sculpture in Vatican City has received the blessing of the Pope. The bench is about 7 feet wide and depicts a covered figure, assumed to be Jesus, laying on it. The only real identification being the crucifixion wounds on the figures feet. For the low price of 99.99 you too can have your own mini-homeless Jesus made by the artist himself. The sculpture is just off of the Roberts Park United Methodist Church parking lot and runs along Alabama Street. There is tons of metered street parking available in front of and adjacent to the sculpture. There is also a commercial parking lot directly behind it that you can pull into, get out and take a closer look too. I guess you could also do a safe and strategic slow rolling drive by and get a a half decent look, but I do not recommend that. You will not get the full effect of the sculpture. As with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a very long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. You may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other sculptures, murals and attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. Brickhead3 and Viewfinders would be a great start.

The mural depicts Speedbeard's pet French bulldog, Frenchie, the inspiration behind many of his characters The dog is wearing Speedbeard's trademark black t-shirt, and has parodies of Speedbeard's full-sleeve tattoos. You can see that the painting has a lot of detail and their inspiration bled through. However, the mural is greatly deteriorated and the wall that it is painted on is actually chipping away piece by piece. I had to do a double take to make sure that I had the correct mural. This mural needs a lot of help, but may be beyond saving. As with most murals, this is probably not a very long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. There is parking available in the alley that the mural is in and it is easily accesible. However, you can probably even do a drive by. It is best to plan out additional stops at many of the other wonderful murals in the area to maximize your trip.

Speedbeard owns a French Bulldog, has a beard, and full sleeve arm tattoos. The bulldog and the arm tattoos were incorporated into this mural along with the neck chain with Speedbeard on it. If you have a knack for reading the graffiti style writing, you can see the artist's names, though I struggle with the two on the right side more than on the left. The dog looks real. The rest of the mural is a swirl of vibrant colors. Very visually effective in catching the eye of passersby. I hope this one will last longer than most of the other great murals that have been at this location. Review #1878
