You can take a seat inside the club, but I reckon it's nicer if you head outside to the lawn. The bowls club has a lush backdrop of wilderness that sets the scene for an easy afternoon. If you hand in a $20 deposit, you can play bowls for $4. Because it's well tucked away, the bowls club doesn't really get a whole lot of business. It's really a place for the locals. I was pretty stoked to see the cheap cost of the jugs and was pretty determined to take full advantage of this. The staff were absolutely delightful. From entering to ordering they made us feel at home at their venue. I ordered a steak with chips and salad and was stoked that when it came out. A giant slab of meat cooked perfectly to my liking, a garden of salad that had a great dressing to it and a stack of chips with a side of gravy. I munched it down and swilled my beer watching the other patrons share the same experience I was enjoying. When it came time to go I was a little disappointed but excited for my return.

The licensed clubhouse has a gym and squash courts and serves lunch and dinner seven days a week. The meals include lunchtime burgers and nighttime pizzas, as well as bistro style meals ranging in price from $12 - $20.

The club is in a great position in Cleveland, close to the water with lots of bay breezes but the most unique part is - wait for it - there are no pokies! No, the club hasn't had a million dollar refurb and it doesn't have purple and orange carpet; it still operates with an auxiliary and volunteers. This venue is also down the road from many bus stations and the transferral ferry to Newfarm, and so it is easily accessible. I would definitely recommend the Norman Park Bowls Club for a family outing where you can enjoy a hot meal in the breeze whilst Dad can still have his beer at the bar, and even get in a quick game of bowls.
