First of all, I was serviced by the owner of the salon, and expected that meant I was going to be treated exceptionally well. I was recommended to her by my husband who knew her through his work, and she had told him that if I went to her she would only charge me 25$, a favor she said. I was very excited! I needed a haircut as I am having a wedding reception in 2 months and wanted to maintain a 6-8 week schedule in order to keep my hair looking healthy, but her only available appointment was pushing it outside of that. She insisted I wait and let her cut my hair (Throwing a wink face in with the text), so I did. Walking in, the vibe was SNOTTY. Not friendly at ALL.. Well that's fine I grew up around, and have worked in multiple salons, I'm not afraid of the atmosphere. I sat down, was given a poor greeting, and waited. And waited. Finally 10 minutes late, I sat in her chair. My stress level was already high for other reasons, and it was difficult to hide. I was hoping to relax and melt into the chair as my hair got washed and cut..instead I got a dry cut, even though I let her know that my hair was dirty and did not want a dry cut! I wanted my hair washed... To which she replied that she would wash it after. I gave in and prepared myself for what I knew wouldnt go well. I expressed frustration at a previous cut done by a stylist and told her my sister fixed it and I loved how my hair was cut by her, but that her being so far away made getting in with her unreliable. To this, Dawn responded by dissing my hair cut at every chance by giving my cousin who was watching behind me dirty looks about the cut, it was SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I spent a total of 15 minutes in her chair and was rushed out the door without a wash. Within a couple days I noticed just how badly my hair was cut. It took me a couple of days of thinking and a good look at the cut for me to decide to text Dawn. I let her know that I was a Yelper/FBer and wanted to talk to her before writing a bad review. The entire conversation sounded more like an attempt to satisfy her own ego than to resolve the issue. She said that she was doing me a favor by charging me only 25$... I wouldn't have paid even that for what I got, looking back. She made it clear that she "doesn't mess up haircuts" and insisted I come in to let her look at it. I refused, as I didn't feel comfortable. I let her know maybe in the next couple days I would come in. She was condescending and left me dissatisfied with the conversation, but I dropped it hoping she would just learn to be more humble. She, however, text me an hour later saying she was under the impression that that I was happy and would just issue me a refund. I told her I didn't need a refund that I wanted to just let her know about my experience. She replied with only a " I hope you have a good day", which was hard not to read in a sarcastic way. I left it alone, but this morning I saw just how uneven my hair was, LONGER on the right than the left by half an inch at least and changed my mind. I asked for a refund, to which she replied come and get it and when I agreed she called. The conversation escalated quickly, I maintained a calm composure as she proceeded to yell judgements about me and actually tell me her stylists were talking crap about me (meaning she must have also been talking crap). She escalated to the point of calling me "fucking ghetto" and tell me that I'm bad energy and she doesn't need me in her life, I stayed calm throughout, telling her she was being unprofessional and crossing lines. She hung up on me. Not only did she give me an experience that wasn't worth even the 25$ I gave her, and uneven haircut that I now have to go get fixed, but she crossed so many lines of professionalism through out the entire process. If I could give this salon a zero out of 5 I would. If the owner is that way I wouldn't trust the people she has hired either. Indigo salon, you made me see Red. read more
