Visited this location on January 7,2024. I notice the little details are lacking and a bit of the customer service too. Also, please make sure you stock the toilet paper. People don't wipe themselves with their hands. If you are going to offer washrooms to the public, make sure you give the means to use it. Positive note, I tried the Brown sugar tea latte and it was very delicious. Thank you Good Earth Café. Update: December 17, 2025 Had a pleasant visit at Indigo on Robson. They have a good selection of fashion magazines and books . I also love checking out the cozy blankets and candles, also ran into Mr. Cafecito. On a side note; the washrooms require a code to gain access. Ask a Indigo associate for the code. There is still no toilet paper in most of the stalls, lol. read more

Indigo is an OG Canadian chain bookstore with lots of books. This location is in Downtown Vancouver and it is pretty spacious. It is two stories and is organized nicely by book genres and categories. Definitely stop by if you are ever walking around downtown or looking to buy a new book! read more

First, I must confess, I love books and bookstores. Second, Indigo is no ordinary bookstore and this location, is like walking into a public sanctuary. There are great arm chairs and tables to cozy up with and skim books all over this beautiful two story book store which has been divided into sections in a very organized but also welcoming way. Upstairs, there are pajamas and cozy bathrobes and reading cozies to try on for curling up with a book at home and a cooking section, cafe, and even home decor section! You can find all kinds of books, journals, gifts, home goods, reading glasses, decor, even beauty eye masks, journals and gifting cards and wrap with ease as though you walked through a store that read your mind and answered your curiosity about what you may delight in finding in a bookstore to enjoy at home and gifting like a magician. I love hanging around here and usually spend a good hour or two easily, plus it is dog friendly and welcoming and warm and spacious and I honestly feel like it is a welcoming third space away from home of my dreams. Will be back. Even if I did purchase a gift with purchase throw and all manner of stocking stuffer gifts like the magnifying glass that sticks on the fridge already and too many books to read. read more

Since kidlet couldn't check out books at the library took them to this bookstore as a consolation prize. The person at the front was super friendly and knowledgeable (asked where the section for the age we were looking for and were directed there). It is a book store that has books but also robes, wallets and clothing type items. It is very light and airy and had seating through out. There was a small coffee shop in the upstairs corner. Large children's area with seating, toys and other items. There were games, puzzles and other items for sale through out the store. Displays were colorful and inviting. Ended up purchasing a book it was $21 CAD or $15.35 US. Would come back and spend more time here if I had more time in the area. read more

I believe everyone is an open book. You simply have to discover what language it is written to understand someone. As a lover of books, I discovered the loveliness of Indigo on my first trip to Vancouver and it continues to be a favorite place to frequent on my trips. Beautiful space in the middle of the downtown sprawl and energy of Robson Street, it is easy to tuck in and escape for a bit of reprieve. Spacious, well organized and a gammut of things to offer from books and must-have journals (no one compares to their selection) to home decor and baby gear. They certainly have nailed the art of display in the aesthetics of the store layout and merchandising. Plenty of chairs and nooks to take in the wonders and smells of beautifully bound books or just watch the customers file in. This last visit, I snagged several exquisite journals and a Herschel backpack to carry all of it home. The staff is friendly and helpful. I wish we had one in Denver but it only gives me reason to shop online or book a ticket to Vancouver so I can return for a shopping spree. If you want to know where your heart is, look to where your mind wanders. My feet also lead me to wander here to Indigo. read more

Back several years ago, there were 2 Canadian bookstore chains - Chapters and Indigo. After a corporate buyout, Indigo came out on top. The old multi-level Chapters is just a few blocks down Robson and is now a Sport Chek store. This Indigo is a bit smaller. What's interesting about the Indigo bookstore model is all the other stuff (housewares, paper, pens, etc.) that's for sale, almost making some of the nearby bookshelves besides the point. However, those extra items are probably higher margin, which make the financial health of the overall bookstore stronger. I found the store to be nicely laid out and I was impressed with their robust magazine section (including a copy of Canadian Geographic that I picked up). I also hit the travel section of a Canada map (I'm returning to Whitehorse in a couple months), and appreciated staff help in finding what I was seeking. As with many other bookstore visits, I came by a couple times during our short stay in Vancouver. read more

This was a cute bookstore with a wide selection of newly released books. It's a good place to preoccupy yourself with a good book. They have desks and seating upstairs. I would recommend if you have some downtime. We got trapped in a rainstorm. read more

I love this bookstore! it has really great vibes. The cafe, Good Earth, just reopened. I love to people watch from the window seat. It's nice because you can also go out and window shop if you need to refresh your mind. There are also tons of plugs you can plug your laptop to. Indigo also has a great membership program :) highly recommend this bookkstore! I tried their beet latte.. and it tasted.. very healthy a little bitter. I don't think I'll order again, maybe I will try just regular coffee or their christmas drink next time. read more

Vancouver is more of a used bookstore kind of town than a new/indie bookstore kind of town, and I find their bookstore options kind of limited. Indigo is the closest thing Canada has to a Barnes and Noble type of bookseller, and while not as big I do find this store in particular a lot aesthetically nicer than the B&Ns of the world. The store has two levels, and very recently they built a fancy and relaxing in-store café on the 2nd floor. The first floor has more non-fiction while the upper floor has more fiction and personal improvement books, plus all their magazines are up there. They do have a lot of non-book accessories and trinkets prominently displayed on both floors. Cashiers are poker faced but cordial and helpful, and the line never seems to get long at all even if there's only a couple cashiers. However, and I could be wrong, but I don't recall there being a help desk, though they have a searchable PC catalog in the store. So you may not be able to get a bookseller to direct/follow you and give advice on titles, especially if it's busy. Decent store with decent selection, more of a really nice indie-style bookstore than a large B&N style bookstore (though obv Indigo is a chain and not independent). If you like books you certainly ought to come in and at least give it a look. Side note: Some of the best, most challenging Sudoku serials I've ever found are at this store, so if you're seriously into Sudoku the 2nd floor here is totally worth a visit. They don't have a huge selection but all of what they offer is pretty good. read more

Go BIG or go home! Indigo relaunched at this location & came to slay! Who can remember Indigos former massive location on 3 floors further down Robson St at Howe!? (SportChek took over - which reminds me I'll have to do a review of it sometime.) Formerly Chapters Books, the giant Indigo came in & took over. You never really know how mergers & takeovers will turn out. Well I can honestly say - you will be proud of the stunning new swanky store & location. Having just been to the Vancouver Public Library a few days back I was even more stunned again - by another book joint! Don't call me a nerd. Ok so kudos to the architects & designers of this fabulous store. Truly spectacular top notch design with no expenses spared! Books books & more books located on 2 floors. It's more than a book store - Starbucks coffee available here, Aromatherapy Diffusers blowing fresh scent all over, home decor, tea section for tea lovers, kids section etc. Or why not buy a robe & slippers - put them on. Then pickup your coffee & settle onto a comfy chair & read away - all right here! Sorry gents - no cigars available! Getting closer to Christmas means getting gifts for your loved ones! While browsing Robson Street, I came across this very spacious and nicely displayed Indigo! There are 2 levels with a wide varieties of merchandise on both floors. Upper level has a huge section for kid's books and other goodies, also parents can choose from decorative items such as picture frames, aromatherapy diffusers, tea selections, etc! Oh and don't forget about the Starbucks too! I was able to get a few books, puzzles and a few toys with the help of very informative and friendly staffs! Beating the crowd before the rush makes shopping so much more relaxed and fun! I have to say their colour scheme and interior spacing of the store makes it so enjoyable to shop here as you do not feel cramped at all! read more

Beautiful space in the middle of Robson St. Its spacious, organized, and lots of home decor for sale that doubles to make the interior aesthetically pleasing. For kids books and toys, they have plenty on the 2nd floor. There's not many places in downtown that sells kids toys so this meets the needs of Christmas shopping for kids without having to leave downtown. It's also a nice break for the kids when shopping on Robson St where they can have a toy-break. A Starbucks is also located on the 2nd floor that overlooks Robson St which makes for great people watching. Elevator available at the back of the store for strollers and wheelchair access. read more

I was hoping to hit a bookstore while I was in town for my flight back to Denver. I noticed this one on my search and then, by chance, happened to walk by it hours later, which really made me want to go in and check it out. I love how it's really lit up and organized to where it's not overwhelming. Additionally, for out-of-towners like me, it's super cool to see areas where books are focused on BC or Vancouver or Canada. I didn't buy any of those but it was great to browse through them. It was fun walking around and trying to figure out what I wanted. I learned who Laura was and ended up getting a book she recommended, again by total chance. I did read a number of books she recommended so her credibility was right up there. Two things I didn't love is how the bookstore promoted a book seemingly everywhere. I get there are new books that are out but this was a bit over the top. It made me not want to buy this book or any other book by this author just because. Secondly, there really wasn't a lot of staff to help out. I was lucky to find someone who wasn't busy to ask a couple question but it would be great to have someone walking around to help people like me better identify something we might enjoy. read more

I have anxiously been waiting for this flagship Indigo store to open and I visited today, browsing the two floors for well over an hour. All I can say is, this store does NOT disappoint!!!! What a wonderful store, not only for books but also for cards and gift wrap (GREAT place to go for boxed holiday cards, btw), journals and writing implements, toys and games and puzzles, cool tchatchkies (stocking stuffers!), home decor (great throws and pillows, especially), gourmet sweets and treats, mugs and candles and scent diffusers and yoga mats and magazines and Fitbits and audio speakers and Beats and oh so much more. SO. MUCH. MORE. The kids' department is sectioned off and couldn't be any cuter, with baby gifts and toddler games and toys and, oh yes, books. What I like most about this store: -lots of floor staff to assist you in finding what you are looking for, to scan items for pricing info, and simply to greet you warmly and smile and seem genuinely happy you are there -large, clean bathrooms on the second floor -lots of cool events (most for the younger set, like story-time and crafts events, but for us older folks, there are book signings, mini-makeovers, how-to events, etc). -there are many areas to sit and read, including plush chairs in nooks and an elongated table with outlets to work on one's computer -did I mention there is a STARBUCKS on the second floor? And lots of tables and chairs there, too. And the guy who works there is SO nice! -large bank of check-out cashiers, so even with a long line, it moves super fast. -nice, reusable, free bags with purchase, too (they say "Indigo [heart] Vancouver". It's a good place to find new books and I'm always a supporter of book stores, but the management doesn't seem to be very supportive of their employees. I spent a good 30 mins at the till while one of employees working their tried everything they could to find the price of an item without a price tag. She was lovely and a champ, but what really stood out was how many managers simply walked by without any awareness of the situation. A couple stopped to "offer help" but only went through the same steps the cashier was going through, only to get to the same result before walking off and leaving the situation altogether. In the end, the cashier made the executive call and we worked it out, but I feel bad for the lovey people behind the counter with no support system from a major corporation like Indigo. I think from now on, I'll only source my books at local independent bookstores. read more

A few years back, when the Chapters on Robson St closed down, it was a very sad day for me. That Chapters was a regular spot for me and my girlfriend at the time. When they reopened as Indigo on Granville, it was another disappointment. That location was small, and uncomfortable. Then, Forever 21 closed down (which is not missed... their men's styles took a nose dive, in my opinion), and signs soon went up that Indigo would ge opening in that location. This was a joyous occasion for me, but of course as you could imagine, I tried to measure my expectations. Don't set your hopes too high, right? Well, it opened and did not disappoint. Big space, comfortable and a Starbucks on the second floor. I'm very happy to say in this -- belated -- review, that this turned out to be a suitable replacement for the old Chapters. The one negative that I would add -- and this was the same with the old Chapters -- is that finding a place to sit is often difficult. Especially in the Starbucks. I think they're possibly losing money by not enforcing a time limit on seating. read more

Indigo is the one place on the chaotic Robson Street that induces relaxation in me and I'm glad its here. Indigo also must be the Shangrila of bookstores which I am happy to spend the day at. Like another reviewer has mentioned, this is more than just a bookstore that really packs a punch. Indigo is also an accessories store (They have a decent selection of faux leather brands Matt and Natt, Love+Lorn, Hershel's) a diffuser/aromatherapy/candles store, a well rounded gift shop for all ages, a board games store, mug store, home decor store, cards store, toys store, and a great work/study environment to boot! The bright, open spacious interior of the store makes it so easy to fawn over all the beautiful things in the store!! They really have their selections down to people with all interests! I was happy to find the Art of Final Fantasy book which I've been looking for ages. The staff members are very helpful and if you go up to any of them you can make an instant purchase instead of going downstairs to the cashier. If you get hungry or thirsty there is a Starbucks inside on the second floor. Overall a GREAT place to read, work, study, shop, or kill time. read more

Indigo owns the Chapters and Coles banners of bookstores, and this newly opened Indigo layout looks a lot like the Chapters of my youth. Notebooks, stationary, and games sections, along with gifts, and books of every genre. There is something nostalgic and inviting about bookstores, and this is no exception. The main floor is open and well lit, with notebooks, planners, notions, staff book picks, and gifts (think candles, bento boxes, yoga mats etc). The upper floor has your games, kids, and magazine sections, genres of books, and a comfy naturally lit starbucks (I can't remember if they were all black apron baristas, but my americano misto was wonderful with fine foam...mmm!). I love Chapters for gifts and Christmas shopping, and will have no issues stopping by here (and the neighboring Sephora) anytime I need gifts and goodies. read more

Maybe this store is new. But the customer service is terrible here! It's my first time here and my last. Just stick to Amazon at least the customer service is top notch. You would figure a retail store will try and excel at something as simple as good customer service. Even the manager Theresa was no help. Rude and didn't care about her customers. read more
