Unforgettable day trip up to Mag Bay with explore Baja to meet the whales. Highly recommend this…read moretrip, even though it is a long day. We were picked up at our airbnb in TS but our driver Chebo at 5am. He is the nicest person ever, and even returned to our house once we realized we had left our 6-year-old's prescription glasses behind in our rush to be ready so early. The van was spacious and comfortable, and after a quick stop to pick up the rest of our group, we were on our way. Frist stop was in La Paz to pick up our guide, Mariel. She is a wealth of knowledge and her love for all things aquatic is infectious. After leaving La Paz, we drove for about another hour before stopping for breakfast (included in the tour price), coffee (THANK GOODNESS), and a bathroom break. After scarfing down our breakfast burritos, we were back on the road to Mag Bay. It was around 4 hours all in, including La Paz traffic. Here we parked outside the preserve and walked to get our lifejackets and find our captain. NOTE: We brought a life jacket for our daughter because we weren't sure if they would have kid-sized life jacket and , reader, they did. They have everything. Save the space in your suitcase! Once we were all suited up we got on our boat with our captain, Kiko. We headed out of the mangroves into the bay and there we met the whales. We were in 3 or 4 locations, each time Kiko maneuvering us to the exact spot where the whales were waiting to greet us. There is nothing in the world like meeting and touching these majestic, gentle giants. This was my second time meeting the whales (first time was in Guerro Negro), but my daughter's first time. Safe to say it is a day that none of us will ever forget. After a few hours out on the water, we stopped for lunch (also included) before stating the drive home, where we were dropped back at our airbnb. I highly recommend explore Baja for a day trip to see the whales. And extra special thank you to Mariel, Kiko, and Chebo, each one of you made our day unforgettable.

My boyfriend dreamed to swim with the whale sharks for years. So when our air BNB lady recommended…read moreus this company to schedule a tour, we did exactly that and seal the deal by putting down 50% deposit at the shop. The day of the adventure: The van came to our air BNB at 6am (sharp!) to pick us up, and there we went! We boarded our boat at the harbor, then we joined a bunch of other tour boats on the quest of finding whale sharks! After a short boat ride, the guide spotted some and commended us to join him in the water! It was intimidating at first, but soon the excitement over-ruled the fear and we found ourselves swimming among the whale sharks! The water was warm and the visibility was great. We got to see those giants feeding on shrimps and admired them swimming so gracefully up closed! After that, we were taken to a sea-lion rock to swim with fishes, corals and sea lions. It was pretty awesome to see all creatures up close, and I didn't realized they sleep in the water with their fins up! I got too closed to the sea lions and I accidentally swallowed tiny amount of sea water when I was panically swimming away. All I could think of was: "oh damn, I just drank their poo and pee and who knows what else!". Rest assured thoI was perfectly fine after that! After all the actions, we were taken to this beautiful beach that has sugary fine white sand. Our tour guides quickly set up shades and lunch, and we got to enjoy the food, relax at the beach and played some more in the water. Now looking back, I really appreciate the friendly tour guides and their tour planning. Our van/boat/activities were on time and on schedule. There wasn't much of waiting around, but yet we didn't feel pressured. Overall, I'd recommend Baja Adventure to ppl who wants to explore the part of Baja which is harder to access!

Gorgeous cove, with tents all set up, our home for the visit. Very comfortable beds with chairs out on our "porch", stunning views, a millions stars at night. There were clean composting toilets and sunshowers available We got out snorkeling both days; beautiful coral reef, incredible fish, a couple turtles, and then sea lions at their refuge. Tons of bird life, dolphins on the way in. Fascinating geology with the cliffs too. Just spectacular! The meals were delicious; beautifully presented and prepared by a wonderful and caring staff. We even had guitar music and singing which was another treat. And how can you not appreciate waking up to hot coffee on the beach!? Yes, happy hour is lovely too. A special shout out to our guide Andrea. She was the best! Very passionate and enthusiastic about all she shared with us. And so knowledgeable! Good with folks who weren't as comfortable with snorkeling. Two of us got on a little hike with her and learned all about the native cacti and surrounding landscape. Learned lots about all the wildlife. A couple days later she took us to Magdalena Bay to look out for the Grey Whales. Also spectacular. Top notch outfit and leading eco-tour company. Thank you TOSEA! A trip of a lifetime!!

We did the 2-night stay at Todos Santos' Camp Cecil glamping (glampground?) on Isla Espiritu Santo…read more It was incredible! They set up tents right on the beach where you sleep in a super comfy bed; each day they take the boats out for some incredible snorkeling with schools of millions of fish and sea lions cavorting about; and every meal is made by a gourmet chef and professional crew right there on the beach, often with freshly caught Baja fish. The guides were excellent and incredibly multilingual, easily switching between English, Spanish, French and Italian, and there are only 7 tents on the beach and nobody else for miles around so it certainly isn't crowded. The bathrooms are just huts on the beach but they keep them remarkably clean and smell-free, and they have a little camping shower you can use. We were very comfortable. They also do a good job of keeping the camp low-footprint, packing everything out and composting what they could. We took our 8-year-old daughter also and she loved it, and the Todos Santos crew loved her too. She generally liked the food, and on the occasion when it was too spicy for her, the chef came out and made sure she liked it, and if she didn't he made her something different like a quesadilla. She was sad when we had to leave. Overall, it was just an incredible adventure, and one that we'd definitely do again.

I had originally booked for Nov, 4 weeks into the usual season, but this year the government held season up for 6 weeks, so I had to reschedule further down the calendar by 2 months to make sure season would be going. Anna and the team were very communicative during that whole time. Even the first day of my rescheduled trip was cancelled due to high winds, but once again Anna was very communicative and refunded that day immediately. Luckily, the second day was a GO and I finally got to meet Anna and the crew of Angel and Pachito were just excellent the whole day; Angel is part fish because he just kept swimming and swimming and swimming along with the whale shark, while we all gassed out and swapped groups. I whole-heartedly recommend them for your Whale Shark experience or anything that they offer because they're an excellent operation.

I enjoyed the humpback whale expedition which came with a free lunch and drinks. We saw a lot of action not terribly far from shore. They also offered a photo workshop. Believe this is more useful for folks that use a digital camera as opposed to a cell phone camera although she gave some tips on that as well. Both were complimentary (on March 11). There was nothing wrong with the trip per se but there are many parts that occurred to get you to where you end up finally. Everyone was nice but I feel like there is a drop in communication as there are too many parts of the wheel. The charter flight was about 2 and half hours so make sure you use the restroom. There is NO bathroom on board. Also for clothing, please make sure you are covered from head to toe. This is NO joke. The weather may seem hot as hades on shore except at night, prepare for windy freezing conditions (they provided a heater AND heating blankets). When you are on the panga and travelling fast, it will be windy and probably cold. However, when you are waiting for some action, you are under the sun in water. Do NOT wear shorts and bring a cover-up for your face as well. Caps/hats are all good ideas. They offered the gaiters and a wind breaker. I commend the luxury tent. This is really what you are paying for. The fact that you get your own porta-potty and running water was fantastic. The shower had more settings than my own shower. They also offer room service so if you don't want it, please let them know. The food was decent as well. Breakfast is buffet and there is a person who can make you an omelet and the lunch and dinner are plated. Honestly, unless you enjoy the feeling of a 5 star hotel, don't think it was necessary. You honestly don't have that much time to eat during this trip. The time is literally spent getting ready for and the whale excursions. There's a volleyball net, soccer goals & bikes for you but it was so windy and honestly not much time to do any of that. Happy Hour had a different "snack" each day (oyster one was awesome) but no alcohol is free except for the one you get when you get off the plane. The food and service was wonderful. Was every dish a 5? No, but you are in a place where they have to import everything. There is also a nightly 30 minute? presentation given by some of your tour leaders. This tour company had the furthest spot (closest to the airport) so you spend a good 30 minutes (travelling quite fast) to get to the area where the whales are (and don't forget the return trip). We saw plenty of whales but everyone is there to "touch" a whale. The last day there, all the boats in our area did manage to touch one and our boat collided with another panga. Luckily all, including the whale, were unharmed but needless to say, our panga did NOT touch one. It also sounded like the whales were not coming to that area as much anymore. In fact, some were spotted in Cabo. Pro Tips: You should ask they rotate the people on the boats so you're not always with the same captain or panga. If you don't mind sharing a central porta-potty, pick a tour company that is closer to the area where they gather. You will have more free time. Don't drink any diuretics before the panga rides as bathrooms are limited to nature (although some boats do have a bathroom). Pangas that are lower might be better because than when you reach over the boat, you're closer to the surface of the water and don't have to bend over as much. This is a desert area so keep that in mind when packing.

The weather is fairly moderate at that point. Chilly at night and warm during the day. But be prepared for the night time wind. Bring earplugs as the tents slap against the poles most of the night. Not Baja's fault as you can't control the weather. Also, food is decent but keep in mind this is a camp in the middle of a national park so it is not high end resort food. Very good considering the remoteness of the location. Also having your own en-suite bathroom was everything!! No cold walks to the bathroom during the night.

Due to recent legislation in regard to whale shark watching/swimming this tour company educates you and gets you the best sightings possible. The large catamaran is not able to get close to the whale sharks, hence the panga that takes you to get up close and personal. Sure, you can take a panga for the whole tour, but that would be a long and slow ride and leave little time for snorkeling with these magnificent creatures. Not only that, but Chief Scott fixes an amazing lunch as well as snacks. Mariana was our swim guide and she also had to make some phone calls as the swim time that we were given was much later in the day. She worked her magic and was able to get our swim time moved up to match our arrival time. She is so knowledgeable about the whale sharks and is incredible skilled when it comes to swimming with them. Leo was our panga captain and he also kept a good eye on those who were being "left behind" by the whale shark. He would maneuver the panga over to pick us up and then drop us off close again. Between Mariana and Leo, I felt very safe and comfortable in the water. I knew that they were always looking out for us. Sammy (?) was a great host and kept the drinks flowing for those who chose to have a drink or two. Captain Chris was in charge of the catamaran, he was friendly and knowledgeable as well. The ability to use a restroom and showers to wash off the salt water was a huge perk. I am a big girl and they had wetsuits that fit me. Don't let size stop you from this experience! Practice swimming with a snorkel and fins, as this is not the leisurely drop in the water and watch sharks that I thought it was. The whale sharks are constantly moving unless you get lucky to see them stop and get vertical to feed. That all being said, I can't tell you enough how much I loved this trip. From the pick up at our hotel to the drop off...just amazing.
