The appointment went over the allotted time that was previously stated last week but I did not mind that at all! Amy started with a scalp massage which was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Then she started on my facial. The products smelled so good! A facial steamer was also used during the appointment. Amy was gentle and provided steps prior to putting the products on my face so I was aware of what she was doing. She was thorough and took her time, which I loved. I would hate to spend money and felt rushed. After the appointment, she made samples for me to take home and also explained in detail of what each were and how to use them. There are about a hundred different little beauty studios within this building and it's a fun, girly spot to visit. Julie's studio is on the second floor and was spotless, fresh and beautiful. She has one facial studio and one microblading studio - both next to each other. She uses Skinceutical products (which if you're not familiar, are highly-recommended and effective products). I've heard the brand mentioned multiple times from all the celebrity estheticians I follow on Instagram and had been wanting to try them. Julie kept my facial simple by washing it, doing extractions, using a steam machine, using this awesome light tool that zaps bacteria on your face, this awesome gel moisturizer that she said would hydrate my skin much better than my current moisturizer, retinol she had recommended for me (it was an evening appointment so she got my face "ready for bed" - yay!), and more. She also sent me home with a few Skinceutical samples that I'm excited to try. Super excited to go back and use the new products she's recommended for me. If you've never gotten a facial before, I HIGHLY recommend going at least once, because the products you might be using in your daily life could be worsening your skin without you realizing it. From the heated bed and dark room, to the tingling exfoliation treatment, relaxing LED lights and more, it was a great experience. I especially liked the dermaplane treatment (gets all hairs and dead skin cells off your face with no down time) and LED red light, which I had on my face for 15 minutes. Fun fact: NASA uses LED red light to grow plants in outer space, so imagine how well that helps stimulate collagen on your face! This is a popular spot, so be prepared to book months in advance. They sell and use the Eminence organic skincare line, which is gentle and seems to have pure ingredients. I was given some samples for the road, as well as a hot tea, which was so sweet. Enjoy!

I reached out to make an appointment. I identified several areas of interest (fine lines, volume…read moreloss, and melasma), but the primary interest was a particular peel to treat melasma. The scheduler responded via email with two available times. I emailed back and selected one. I then followed up with another question about the melasma and peel. Flash forward to the date I selected and I drive 25mins to the appointment and was told I wasn't on the books (after a very surprised/shocked look when I walked in the door, which is typical when in spaces where black people are not often present). I was then told that the doctor doesn't treat melasma, which is patently untrue because one of the primary purposes of the peel they offer (per the makers of the peels brochure and website) is the treatment of melasma. So by offering the peel, you are offering a treatment for melasma. Additionally, I had other issues outside of the melasma. But I guess they had no interest in my business for those apparently (which seems very suspicious. Does the doctor not treat melasma or is the doctor uncomfortable treating darker/black skin?). What made it worthy of a one star review however was the fact that the scheduler said, "I called you and told you the doctor does not treat melasma." Ummm, ma'am. You absolutely did not. You did not call, we did not speak. And in turn, you wasted an hour of my time. This office needs to do better.
