This place has went downhill fast. A kiosk from the Philippines checks you in. The bed wasn't made well at all, the heat was broke so it was 80 in our room with the windows open, the toilet was literally filthy and there was hair in the toilet bowl. Half the TV channels are not available including all the local ones. The beds are not great. This place used to have local and really great owners. Now, there is no personality. Dirty and sad. No breakfast any longer. Nobody in the front to check you in. 96 with tax a night to have a filthy toilet. read more

The guy that bought this is from out of state, and I would say based on what I know, he's the cheap tight that likes to buy a property strip it down and not add a thing First, we start off with a cheesy little television that isn't much bigger than my Apple phone, then we go to shampoo that doesn't actually have shampoo in the bottle, then, if you want to actually make a cocktail in your room, or have any ice, the responses " I just bought the place and it didn't have an ice machine !" I've been staying here for decades, and I'm so sorry that the original owner sold it but I can tell you that I will absolutely never ever stay here again. read more

Got there and just wasn't comfortable. Thin walls so you could hear everything and everyone on either side of you. The room had a smoke smell. Online pics seemed like a nicer place. We didn't feel comfortable there at all so we decided not to stay. Asked nicely if we could just cancel and continue toward Duluth. Owner said since we paid on booking.com that he couldn't cancel. When you request a cancel on booking.com it sends a note to the owner, so I'm thinking he just wanted to keep the money. read more

Long distance Harley trip ended us in Ironwood MI looking for a motel. Pulled into town and saw The Ironwood Motel. Quaint motel from out of the past. The owner Tarun was more than super friendly, very helpful. Quick check in even split the bill with my buddy without any trouble. Room was perfect, clean and roomy. Fridge, coffee plenty of towels (and motorcycle towels on request! Super helpful) great A/C, pull right up to your room. All that a couple of Harley guys could ask for. Stopped by for a night and the motel was good! Gigantic room for the price! Everything was clean and as many mentioned, water had decent pressure Breakfast and parking were free and the only downside was that there was a bit of unpleasant smell in my room, but open windows fixed it. read more

Was just looking for a place to crash for the night on US Highway 2 to wait out the winter weather, and I was lucky enough to try this great little place. Very friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed, free wifi, and even continental breakfast, which I wasn't expecting from a Motel. Everything looks slightly dated, but nothing is shabby or run down. I could hear my neighbors and the parking lot noises a bit, but not enough to be a problem. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone, and I would stay there again when passing through. read more

I've never actually stayed at a Motel, but this one is quite nice. The smell of pine once you walk in. Rooms are clean, like really, really clean. Bathroom immaculate, probably cleaned better than my own. Some hotels I've stayed at with 4 stars are dirtier than this place. If you are not looking for a pool, and just need a place to stay, it's a great choice. Very dated decor, bed and pillows are comfy. Kind of gone back in time but that is the neat part about it. They have cable tv, a small fridge. As an earlier review stated the walls are thin, a crying baby next store would be the worst, but luckily we had no issues. So stay at Indianhead, it's not too bad, not too shabby at all. read more

What a great, low price hotel. For $35 (August 2007), the room was clean, bed comfortable, cable TV (well I guess just about every motel has this these days), mini fridge (sorry, no microwave), free WiFi, and free local phone calls. OK, all the above should be there at any motel, but they're not always. The bathroom was very spacious (not luxury hotel, but not cramped either). The TV wasn't a flat panel plasma (ha!), but the picture was clear ant it was nicely mounted on the wall away from the bed so you an lie in bed and fall asleep to the blue campfire. I'd give this motel a 5 star green / environmental rating: Compact fluorescent bulbs in all lights, low flow shower head, and toilet paper made from recycled paper. I would give the motel 5 stars, but the walls are a bit thin so you can hear loud TVs and showers through them. Very comfortable and clean for $35. read more

I've been coming to the Indianhead for several years with a cross country ski club. This is a great family owned place. Morgan and Linda are fantastic hosts and know just about everyone in town. The ski packages can't be beat for the price. The funky 1960's style rooms are clean and comfortable with everything you need for your stay. I appreciated the wifi as I needed to do some work while I was there. There is even a sauna for after ski relaxation. Make that 4 1/2 stars! read more

Clean rooms, hospitable owners, good value for the area. Walls not well sound-proofed, but we had mature and polite neighbors. A great option for us needing a night's stay on our trip across the upper peninsula. We would definitely recommend this motel to others. read more

Stopped in last night after a long drive needing a rest before continuing the last few hours. Good choice! Price quoted on the phone was very reasonable. The couple running the motel were fantastic. Chatted with them while having a very nice continental breakfast with muffins, toast, English muffins, cereal, oatmeal, bananas, milk, juice, and coffee. Room was warm and inviting along with being clean. Bed was extremely comfortable and led to a very good night sleep. Going to be top of our list for the next time we stay in Ironwood. read more

We came to Ironwood with a big group to see fall colors. The couple who owned the motel was very friendly and gave us many good suggestions of what to do and see. The rooms were very clean, although the decoration was a little dated. Each room had a mini-fridge and free WiFi. The free continental breakfast was basic but plenty. For the low price we paid, this was certainly more than what we expected. read more

we have stayed here twice in the last two years while we ski. room is clean and well kept. rates are great. the owners are absolutely super people. breakfast in the mornings - english muffin, peanut butter, cereal, coffee - not fancy but it's nice to eat before heading out and talk to them while we watch the weather channel. highly recommended. read more

I always stay at this motel whenever I'm in the area. The owners are friendly, they have a nice continental breakfast included (coffee, juice, cereal, oatmeal, toast, and muffins) and the room rates are very reasonable. The rooms have a mini fridge and there's a microwave in the office, which is close to all the rooms. I also like that the Holiday station, practically next door, is open 24 hrs to pick up snacks. There are several restaurants nearby and Walgreens is just across the street. read more

I would not recommend staying at this motel. I stayed here in early april while it was snowing. The staff turned off our heat when we left for a few hours. We came back to a very cold room, not to mention the musky aroma that filled the air. Towels for curtains! That's a first for me! The stench was so bad we had to hose down the room with perfume. Never again will i go back unless i have the sudden urge to travel back in time & go to 1980 because thats how outdated this place was. read more
