“It impresses me that there are enough folks in this neighborhood of fast food and slow budgets to support an Indian grocery.”

So I was watching TikTok or YouTube (I forgot which one) only to discover that there was Filipino food in my neighborhood. I went there on October 5 around 3pm got seated and my waitress came shortly and took my drink order and let me look at the menu. She came back and I ended up choosing Kate Kare with pork lumpia and a water to drink. When my food arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the plating. The kare kare and lumpia was excellent. For dessert I ordered the the ube turon. Those were very good too. The waitress was very attentive to my questions and needs. I finished paying and while waiting for my uber I went to look at the grocery store and noticed that they have melona ice cream. I was looking for honey dew flavor but they did not have any but they informed me they need to order some in. Overall a great experience. I look forward to trying the buffet on Saturdays.

The lumpia was severely overcooked, while the chop suey was undercooked, with vegetables that were still nearly raw. I was also surprised to be charged $22 for Spanish bread at the bakery, especially since there were no prices displayed. As a fellow Filipino, I always want to support Filipino-owned businesses, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I sincerely encourage you to revisit your recipes, perhaps even explore some on Pinterest, and improve the quality and consistency of your food. Clear pricing in the bakery would also be appreciated. I wish you the best and hope you take this feedback constructively.

Whether plastic ware, 5 lb blocks of cheese, or 3 pound bags of tortilla chips, this is your place. I love the fact that almost all of their dry goods are marked Kosher (I realize I'm a minority in that, but its still nice). I like that I can get 'green' sterno if I want it and that they are good at reducing packaging for less waste. The staff here is great. If you do get the huge block of cheese or meat, they slice it for free - after making certain the slices are just the right thickness for you. As someone else mentioned, their staff is super nice. They even have a program for your school where every dollar you spend can help donate money to the school. Its a club buying store that has no fees. Every once in a while comes a place that makes me sad there are only five stars. GFS is that place.

This came immediately after being boldly instructed to stand at the 6 ft. line. Almost like being yelled at for putting the cleaner on the counter so the cashier could scan it. Perhaps her bold instructions would be better aimed at the cashier who moved around the force field to scan the cleaner violating my space. Just saying, if you're going to forcefully dictate what people are going to do, you might want to be nicer to begin with amd start the procedural conversation earlier. But calling me a jerk because i wouldn't break her own 6 ft rule? That's rude and uncalled for. There's no way to maintain 6 ft from the cash stand and check out.. politics... making rules that can't logically be enforced.
