The meat was so tender and flavorful, I went back 3 times to fill my plate. Then there was the desert table with "make your own sundae" with the freshly made ice cream. All I can say is that I hope to be invited back to play another charity event and eat the 5 star menu, again and again. Simply the best !

From the moment I got my first views of St. George's Golf and Country Club, it filled me with a…read morestate of heightened golf euphoria, A Golden Age golf gem that is a very sneaky difficult par 70 6400 yards. From the clubhouse, one can see across vast expanses of the golf course. Several hundred trees were removed during a restoration led by architect Gil Hanse, the same man designing the Rio Olympics course. The first three holes play on your golf emotions like a fine wine that needs a bit more time to breathe. You know that in a short period of time, this magnificent bottle will yield a complexity that may be the best you have ever experienced. The only way to know is to savor what you have in front of you, grinning a little inside knowing that something very special is about to be revealed. St. Georges may look short on the card, but don't be fooled. It's a par-70, which means it will play almost 400 yards longer than the distance stated. While none of the holes is unfairly long, the rough is thick and high, the greens speedy and true, and the terrain severely undulating. You not only have to keep the ball in play, you have to control distance as well as accuracy. With the greens well protected by mounds, deep bunkers and internal contour, the adventure doesn't end when you get greenside, but may in fact be only be beginning. Holes #1 through #4 tempted me to take shots I can pull off on flat courses but the risk here at St.Georges are so strategic! that you should easy back off the accelerator and attack the course at very few and far between points. Devereux Emmet made sure of this back in 1916 when he designed the course, with classic bunkering on both the fairways and greens. Rolling your approach shots can be your best route or your worst nightmare. At the driving range as I was warming up for the days round, I was approached by the golf pro Rod Heller and we struck up a conversation. We talked golf plane swings as we both fought a double cross hook for some stints of time. I peered over his shoulder to see my playing partners waiting for me, I had to excuse myself so we could begin the journey of our day out on the course. To be honest, I could have spent all day talking to Russ. What a sweetheart, complete gentleman and so available and willing to assist members with any needs, questions or comments they threw his way.

It…read moredoes seem that they take their dress code seriously, as I was told by some in my group that they were called out for wearing collarless shirts or jeans, and one member made a male in my group tuck his shirt in. The course has gorgeous views and is naturally beautiful, and I really liked that it is not irrigated - such environmental consciousness is rare among golf courses. Leigh, the head golf pro, and the other golf pros who gave us lessons were all great: very informative, skilled and enthusiastic yet down to earth. I would absolutely take another lesson with them. Finally, I also thought the women's locker room was well appointed, which is sometimes not the case among other clubs I have visited that cater to a primarily male clientele despite advertising themselves as open to men and women. All in all, the views, the friendly members and pros, nice facilities and environmentally conscious attitude of this club makes it one I would definitely join if I were in the country club membership market.

From a prior visit, I remember their bracelet costing $20, so it was surprising when we saw they were only $15 a person. The activities are a carbon copy of their location in Manorville (bounce pads, bounce house, lawn games, mini golf, corn maze, sunflowers, etc.), but the vibe is way more quiet comparatively. Maybe we were just there early enough, or it was an off day, but I enjoyed it way more than prior experience. They only had one food truck available, but we opted not to get food before heading out.

Open now for the summer season, we stopped here because we read they have a tulip festival during…read morethe end of April, early May and although we didn't go to any of the attractions as they were very kid-focused and friendly (but looked fun!), we bought a ton of plants in the greenhouse. The worker who helped us was extremely knowledgeable about the offerings and gave us watering/planting advice specific to the various plants we bought. They have a wide selection of plants and flowers, all beautiful, and herbs as well. They have a ton of different festivals/events throughout the year so check their website for what is upcoming in the season. I would definitely come here if you have small children or with a large group as there's a brewery attached to it as well that we didn't get a chance to go to, but will in the future.

What a beautiful setting for an event, being out in the fields as the sun was setting made the whole night feel extra special. There were so many local vendors and businesses, with plenty of wine, spirits, and other drink options, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The entertainment really added to the atmosphere too. Between the DJ, dancers in their beautiful costumes, and the live drums, there was such a fun energy throughout the evening. The food was definitely a highlight. There were so many things to sample, but my personal favorites were the oysters, Ecuadorian ceviche, and the peach bruschetta. I also loved the little tacos and the pie! It was such a great way to wrap up the summer. Hallockville is absolutely beautiful, and events like this are such a fun way to experience the farm while supporting local businesses and vendors. I'd definitely recommend checking out their upcoming events if you're in the Riverhead/Long Island area!

It is also a perfect winery for larger groups as they have an indoor and outdoor tasting area. This place is just beautiful. We sat on the porch looking out over the vineyard like we were in the Alexander Valley. Honestly, we have done the North Fork trail more but will now be a SOFO family as well. Helene and I both enjoy a good Chardonnay and "Wolffer's Pearl" is great, A chard with tremendous body and depth. We had the honor of being on a European Wine Cruise with the wine maker. Roman Roth [and his wife]. He had multiple wine dinners where we had an opportunity to try some of these new red and white wines and really took a liking to them. We joined their wine club as soon as we returned home so we'll have more to enjoy during the year. Let me be honest... I have been drinking and collecting Roman Roth wines for years now and have always enjoyed them. The team that took care of us was amazing. Nothing but smiles and service. We were very lucky to have the opportunity to experience this wonderful visit. The only downside is that the drive from mid-island to the Hamptons can get a little long.
