The only reason I visit this place is because there aren't many alternatives nearby. The food is just okay, nothing special. The staff seem unprofessional, almost as if they're doing you a favor by serving you. If you really want to eat here, you might want to bring your own cleaning supplies -- because they ask customers to clean, yet provide none. Don't be intimidated to come in here. If you like Indian food, you must shop here. Even just for regular rice produce, and meats check it out. Everyone in the store is very helpful. Five stars for the excellent fresh whole wheat chapati that India Bazaar makes in front of you. Put it in a dry pan until it puffs up, and swipe some butter on both of the paper thin sides, and scrunch it up with your tongs. These are the best chapati ever! They have a large selection of Indian ingredients, including an entire aisle of various crispy puffs to make a hundred different varieties of bhel puri. Don't forget to stop by the restaurant to pick up something to go. They have wonderful dosas, dal, entrees and appetizers. They have been very strict upholding the highest standards to prevent Covid spread. My only complaint is that the store is a little dingy and messy. read more

This has been a to-go Indian grocery shop for a lot of Indians from the Hopkins area after the closure of Namaste Plaza. This is a pretty big store with a lot of options from veggies, freshly made rotis, restaurant, meat shop and they also sell small snacks like samosas, puffs and even quick eats like subjis and biryanis. The rotis that they make out of the huge roti maker are fresh and hot. Make sure you buy a pack of it if you are here for the first time. The veggies are fresh for most of the time and they do a good job of replenishing it promptly. They have a large variety of readymade mixes and pickles too. One thing I haven't liked much and the reason to rate this place one star less is the stench that comes out of the meat section as they cut through it. No disregards to people who eat meat but the smell is highly intolerable to people like me who don't eat it. I have informed this politely to the front desk folks couple of times, but they don't care to give a damn about setting it right. Nevertheless, this store is a typical Indian Walmart shop where you can find anything under the sun and the sections are neatly categorized to provide a seamless shopping experience. read more

This is a typical Indian grocery store/cafe---in a suburban strip mall, offering packaged products along with a standard slew of North and South Indian hot foods in a run-down cafe. That said, the selection of packaged and frozen goods was above average, with stuff you can't find elsewhere. Also, the hot foods were really tasty. The cafe is disorganized, slow and not terribly friendly, which is why I'm docking them a star. Vegan pro-tip: Indian grocery stores tend to be highly vegan-friendly, both in terms of fresh and packaged goods. Take a look at my photos and explore for yourself to get unusual products you won't find anywhere else. The veggie samosas ($4) are great and I loved the roasted green chili they give you. These things are super spicy. The mango dal ($6) was delicious with good texture and heartiness, though I wish it had been slightly less liquid. The veggie puff ($3) also tasted good and was filled with a mixture of corn and chickpeas. If you want the best cheap packaged vegan ramen around, get the Maggi Masala Atta Noodles ($3). Once you've had these, Nissin or whatever other brand, you won't go back. I also highly recommend Kurkure Munch or Bikano Chatax as snacks. These are basically Cheetos, but spiced with actual herbs and Indian flavors, instead of fake cheese and artificial flavors. They're also all vegan. read more

Had lunch on a Sunday while they had a special lunch buffet. One of the best Indian buffets I have had in recent days. The number of items in the buffet was huge. So we just had a little bit of everything. Crab Masala and Chicken Fry were the best. The Chicken Biriyani was good but not the best. They had spiced buttermilk. It was too spicy and oily. There are way too many items to list here. Overall the food was great! Now to the service - definitely not the best. I don't think they have enough folks to service all the customers. You have to pretty much take care of things by yourself - getting water, used plates. If they just address this, it would make the overall experience complete. I read some reviews about poor customer service but my experience today was the opposite. Both the woman on the grocery side and the gentleman on the cafe side were very courteous to me. I ordered online (through Yelp/Grubhub) and specified a time about an hour in the future and it was ready on time. I've never been and purchased a bunch of new snacks in the grocery store, they have an excellent selection. We tried some standard stuff in the cafe that we haven't found worth eating at other Indian restaurants in the twin cities (after CA and TX we thought maybe in MN they just don't do these things the same): Butter chicken and veggie samosas are the best we've had here! Both were flavorful and had the right spice level (spicy but not overly). I had a chikoo shake which was something different and delicious than the standard mango lassi at most restaurants (they have that too). I was super excited to visit this restaurant as they had a Plethora of Biryanis and was more curious to satisfy my palette. Along with my other friends we did reach this restaurant at 7.30 ish and got our table at 7.55 PM . I was more curious to eat Old city Biryani, Natukodi Biryani , Guntur Biryani. Biryani was really horrible and the rice grain was heated up to the core and could hardly eat. Tried reaching people and My god no one was willing to hear Natukodi Biryani- Hardly got pieces and we literally waited for so long time. Biryani rice was horrible Old city Biryani- This is what they named it for Kabsa Biryani( Which is never an Old City Biryani) Its a Arabic Biryani which is so Happening in Hyderabad these days. Old City always been a very Spl Dum Biryani which is so Good. Guntur Bilal Biryani- My Word they messed up this Biryani . Its different and the texture and color should be different. In this restaurant they totally screwed up. Shrimp Biryani- They have totally made it into a colorful biryani adding color to Shrimp. Honestly it was a crap. Never saw shrimp with color in biryani. Probably they have reinvented it Natukodi Biryani- Cannot comment too much as they could not refill it . I understand that running a restaurant is not so easy and maintaining the quality is difficult but I really waited with Patience as this restaurant made me Go Bonkers whenever i had something or the other. Please make sure you guys do not mess up the traditional dishes and would not refrain myself letting people know. Gods sake Food is a disaster. We had Gulab Jamoons and they were Good. Their cafe sells food made out of frozen veggies. If you order chat like bhel puri, they rip off a bhel puri mix right from their grocery store add onions and tomatoes and garnish, this can be prepared at your home itself, there is no need to spend some buck for this preparation. Rest all are also similar. And one customer was complaining as he realized that the samosas are just taken out from the freezer and deep fried. They don't prepare anything from scratch. I use to visit India Bazaar for groceries and snacks. Today i had ordered half tray veg biriyani, naan and paneer gravy for pickup as i had some guests at home. First of all, they forgot Raita and salna and the veg biriyani was horrible. It was full of salt, my guests and kids threw all the food away. The remaining biriyani goes to the garbage. When i called them to give feedback, they said, oh sorry we forgot the raita and salna. About veg biriyani, the chef tasted before serving the food and it was perfect and denied my feedback. I really wanted to go in person and make them taste the biriyani they have made but i don't think they care and saved from further embarrassment. The naan was good though. read more

In my entire life this is the worst Biryani I had. Rice and mutton not cooked. Probably it's old and rotten food. We took 2 goat biryani take out and opened not cooked so threw everything thing on garbage.as we spend 15 $ each hence I want to try one goat piece and for that mistake we are suffering from yesterday with stomach upset . Pretty good place for Indian groceries and vegetables. Their fresh made curries and chapatis are very good. Biryani is also pretty tasty.

Never buy goat meat from them. Requested for baby goat leg meat and ended up getting the scrap for $10 per lb.... pure rip off
