This place is now named for the former great Captain Shreve High School Head Coach Lee Hedges. This stadium is in the back yard, literally, of Captain Shreve, but it is a community stadium used as a home and away field for several schools in Caddo Parish. I rocked in high school football here back in the mid to late 80's (Check tape!) And I still enjoy coming to the occasional high school football contest here as a spectator. Little has changed in that time from player to 41-year old spectator, but I like it that way. I like the old east and west entrances, and the old signs that advertise them. The track has been updated, as has the bleacher seating. It has had some upgrades through the years, paint here and there, but the stadium still "feels" the same. And you know, as a spectator really, what's better than a Friday night, "At the Hedge" with a little football ambience, some cheap concessions, maybe some nuclear-yellow-goop-nacho cheese and some jalapenos on some pretty stale tortilla chips going down your gullet (and at that moment, they are as tasty as anything Superior Bar and Grill or Cantina Laredo could whip up, for real!)...Lee Hedges on a Friday night in the Fall...there is no better entertainment in town! Seriously! Check tape!

When first undergoing construction, I felt this endeavor…read morewas a bit odd, and certainly, an odd location, but after some time, and a recent on-field visit during Louisiana Tech University's Football Fan Fest! Go Dawgs!! I found the fields (there are four of them) to be of high collegiate training quality. These fields are as fine and top grade as you would find on ANY college campus. I also found those that service and assist at these fields during events to be as friendly, helpful, and just all-around pleasant as any visitor could ever hope for! The fields and facility, are shiny, clean, and very well-maintained. The fields have a certain bounce and sponginess to them, that make you feel like you could go all Odell Beckham Jr. going out for a hard-to-reach pass! The weather was also surprisingly nice during this lovely event, as storms stayed away momentarily, and all things made for such a wonderful, and free evening for Bulldog fans! Hip, hip, hooray for Freedom Fields!! Well done!! Very well done!!

This will be our 4th year holding the LHSAA STATE WRESTLING tournament here. Each year the rules…read morechange. This year our athletes are only permitted to bring in 1 sports drink, 1 fruit, and 1 healthy snack for a 12 plus hour day and return the following day to do it all over again. They are wanting the kids to buy from their concession stands. We have never been to a tournament where the kids were not allowed to bring in their own food and drinks needed to fuel their bodies while wrestling. I hope we move to a new venue next year and never return to this one.

It is a 3,000 seat outdoor stadium with a relatively new synthetic grass surface utilized for both boys and girls sports including football, soccer, and lacrosse, and also involving competitive grade levels anywhere from elementary through high school. Loyola's moniker on the sporting fields and courts is the Flyers. Their mascot is Snoopy. THE actual Snoopy cartoon character as drawn and created by Charles M. Schultz. Shultz gave permission himself, in 1966, for this school to use Snoopy's likeness in promoting its athletic and academic endeavors. It is the only school to this day, and in this giant world to legally have this right to present the beloved beagle as their very own.
