This place was a 1980's must-stop for just about every MTV band there was in that moment! I, myself, saw my very first concert here in October, 1985: Cheap Trick and Night Ranger! In those glorious times, I also bore witness to Foreigner and Robin Trower, John Cougar Mellencamp, Van Halen in their very first concert ever with Sammy Hagar as lead, kicking off their 5150 tour here. Bachman-Turner Overdrive opened. I've seen David Lee Roth solo, with Cinderella! I've seen Cinderella headline with Winger and Bullet Boys here. AC/DC and Kingdom Come, Ozzy and Anthrax, Robert Plant, Huey Lewis and the News with the Robert Cray Band, George Strait, Hank Jr, Highway 101, Reba McEntire, Keith Whitley, 38 Special, Ted Nugent, Bryan Adams, and all of these are just off the top of my head. I missed Iron Maiden, Saxon, and Fastway when they played here (still kicking self!), as well as Tina Turner on her Private Dancer tour (Ain't we a pair?...Raggedy Man?) There's so much time and history within these walls. Elvis even played here in his waning years! This place can't hold a candle to the suite-laden, sushi-serving, big city behemoths of today. But it doesn't have to. It has echoes inside of it instead. Even when no one is playing. read more
