There are 2 boat launch areas, one lane on each. The original launch area is near the main parking lot, has a long and steep launch slip. Obviously older than the new one but it is still very useable. The new launch area is to the left of the original and almost under the bridge and has a shallower incline compared to the original and plenty of room to park vehicle with trailer. Much easier to launch a canoe/kayak on the new launch area. Park has plenty of public restrooms and the area is very clean and well maintained. So get out and stretch your legs a while and enjoy the beautiful public space along the White River.

Unfortunately, the sound system was a huge disappointment. The microphones/sound were so poor that we could barely understand the words being sung. My daughter says maybe I just need to turn up my hearing aids , but even with that excuse, the vocals simply weren't clear enough to really enjoy the performances the way we wanted to. The other thing that struck us was the age of both the performers and the audience. It honestly appeared that probably 90% of the entertainers were over 80, and about the same percentage of the audience was as well. There is something wonderful about seeing that generation still playing this music and keeping the tradition alive--but it also made me a little sad. Who is going to carry it on? And I don't mean that the Barn needs to change the music to attract younger people. In fact, I think the exact opposite is true. Keeping the traditional mountain music exactly that--traditional--is incredibly important. That authentic old-time Ozark sound and culture is what makes this place special. The goal should be to introduce younger musicians and younger audiences to the tradition, teach it, encourage it and pass it down--not change it into something more modern just to attract a crowd. This place has history, authenticity and something you simply can't manufacture. But unless there is an effort to bring younger generations into that tradition--and invest in a sound system that allows people to actually hear and understand the music--I worry about what happens to the Barn over the next 10 years. I don't say that to be cruel. Quite the opposite. I'd love to come back years from now and find the place packed with grandparents, parents, kids and grandkids, all enjoying the same wonderful traditional mountain music. Don't change the tradition to save it. Pass the tradition on. It deserves to survive.

The couple who own the grill area worked like crazy to keep the beers coming and feed us during a 2 hour rain delay. The course was in decent shape, and while the greens will get better with longer days, they ran true but slow. Most all of our guys loved the layout. We even played 27 holes one day and barely got the cart back to the barn before dark. We would play this again, but stay closer or in one of the rental on site.
