This school is the perfect foundation for kids. Five stars for the Academic Programs, The Preschool Program, the Staff, the facility, the "down to earth family culture", the Sports Program, the Music Program, etc. Best part- this is a true bible teaching school. There is actual praying, lifting up of one another, bible memorization, etc. My personal experience: My son is 14 and my daughter is 10. Both kids thrived academically at ICS. My son was a part of the Sports Program and loved it. My daughter has geared towards taking Music Program opportunities. My son attended preschool through 5th grade. He just finished Eighth Grade in public school with High Honors and the President's Award for Academic Excellence. I give 50% credit to ICS for the academic foundation my son received. The Sports Director- Mrs. Compos is five stars all the way. The years that my son had at this school, I will always cherish. ICS still values classic Americana Fieldtrips such as Sacramento, DC, Grand Canyon, etc. From Math Competitions to Speech Meets- my son's childhood at ICS was filled with academic nurturing and bible teaching. His classroom size was always between 14-20 kids. This small pond made me feel safe and seemed healthy for the younger years in my son's life. As a boy, he found himself in plenty hot seats, but we worked through each moment with the Principal, Mr. Cushing, who shares great care for every student. He is amazing. Our daughter will begin fifth grade this year. Her favorite parts of the school are the staff, her friends, the music program (4th Grade Band and Musical Theater!!), the field trips, the art program and the comfort she feels when she is there. My daughter is not really into academics, but the teachers and the programs are really good, so somehow, she always makes Honor Roll. I can't think of a better place for my daughter to grow up. She has a safe, small environment with artistic freedom to develop. Her classroom size has been about 16-22 kids for the most part. As a mom, I want to make sure my kids are in good hands when I am not around. At ICS, I know my daughter is in good hands. Daycare is available until 6PM. The Summer Day Camp is fun, full of field trips and open to the public. The facility is pretty new- bathrooms are nice, air conditioning, beautiful theater, nice library etc. The culture is "family" at this school. Sometimes it takes time to get to know the families, but the school is small enough that you start to recognize faces and get to know each other over time. All in all, I would recommend this school to anyone with children between Preschool- 8th Grade. It's never too late to attend ICS and be a part of the ICS family! read more

The first word that comes to mind when I think of ICS, is: FAMILY. As a former Independence Christian School student, I have experienced the outstanding results of what this school has to offer an individual. Both me and my sister, Shannon, attended ICS for 13 years, not only during regular school hours, (8 a.m. - 3 p.m.), but also during the after school Daycare program, and the Summer Daycare program throughout the entirety of my attendance. The staff is warm, caring, considerate and concerned, I grew to look at my teachers and daycare staff as being as close to my family. I could always depend on them to help solve problems, answer questions, and give me wonderful and personal care without feeling judged or frowned upon. Not only does ICS teach the virtues of forgiveness and friendship, they lay down the proper structure for children to grow into respectable, behaved, well mannered and kind adults. Me and my sister have been told throughout our adult lives that we are a wonderful example of individuals who respect and care about the people and environment around us, not only in a polite way, but in a personal way. I am so grateful to have respect and courtesy forever instilled in me, thanks to my ICS teachers and daycare staff. Not only were we brought up to care about our surroundings, we were taught to ask questions, problem solving, skill training, and making positive and strong connections. I call ICS a family because; even though its been 16 years since I attended the school, I have called and visited numerous times, and all of the teachers and staff will call me by name, greet me with a hug, and laugh with me about old memories. They truly care about each person individually, as if they were your immediate family, and the values they have instilled in me will never be forgotten, and is something I am still extremely grateful for. Looking for a great school, My name Is Fidel and we had interviewed over 9 schools before we came to ICS. Our encounter with Carol Hilton the Vice Principal of the school was incredible. She took the time to show us what our Daughter Genesis was going to learn. All the other school's would show us the Music room the Gym and all around the Campus never once going over the curriculum. I was impressed with Mrs. Hilton's knowledge and confidence about her School. The old location of the School was not much to look at, so we made our decision based on Mrs. Hilton's and the schools Beka system. I remember Mrs. Hilton's comment when she said " Mr. Hernandez you will be amazed at what Genesis will learn this year" Our wonderful Daughter has impressed me with what she has learned over these last 93 days at this magnificent School. Mrs. Lancaster is a wonderful Teacher that enjoys her profession and through her teaching methods the children retain what they have learned. Mrs. Lancaster is caring and truly love her children we loan her for most of the day. Thank you Mrs. Lancaster!!! We are so happy with the education our children are receiving at ICS, especially the emphasis on building Christian character in all facets of their lives: the mind, body, and spirit. We had our children enrolled at Calvary Christian School in Santa Ana (our son attended preschool through 4th, and our daughter preschool through K), which is an excellent school - IF your children are ideal students who need neither a greater challenge or more assistance in the classroom. After finding that the administration and staff was not equipped or willing to customize and work with our needs, we left CCS and enrolled our children at Creekside Christian School, which unfortunately closed after we had them there for one year. BUT, God had greater plans in store, as ICS came along side and many of the Creekside students, ours included, moved into ICS. This is our third year with ICS and we couldn't be happier with the staff, the extra resource help, the unique and fun learning environment, the wonderful field trips, plays and musicals, cheer and sports, and best of all - an awesome heart to serve Jesus! read more

Woohoo, as good as it gets says it all. My children were attending Calvary Christian School for many years. Unfortunately Calvary is not good at accommodating children with special needs; they are like a factory school. This is why we changed to Independence. Unlike Calvary, Independence realizes that no two students are the same; they don't think the same and they don't learn the same. My very quite and shy daughter has came out of her shell more. She's not ready to do spelling bees by herself yet, but I bet that in a couple more years she will have the confidence to do so. She's in the 1st grade now and has grown socially and emotionally since leaving Calvary Preschool. Not to forget to mention the small class sizes help give individualize attention. And if that wasn't enough to sell you, Independence is like a family school, everyone knows everyone and they genuinely care about your family, not just money. I have two kids attending this school and they are both doing great. This school truly cares about your children and go out of their way to help each child with whatever extra needs they may have such as, tutoring, special classroom accommodations, behavior charts, and more. This has been the BEST school for my kids and I trust that they are safe, happy and loved when they are there. My daughter went to Trinity Lutheran Christian School last year and struggled in math and spelling. She felt like she was stupid, had lost all of her self esteem and hated school and her teacher. Now at ICS, she is on honor roll, loves going to school, LOVES her teacher, and is involved in cheer and band. What a difference a GREAT school like ICS can make! We absolutely love Independent Christian School, Anaheim Hills this school has been such a great investment in our children's education with a Christian foundation. Our oldest child has been enrolled at ICS for 4 years and excelling beyond all levels of reading, spelling and math. The biblical curriculum is excellent and taught to the children every day throughout their everyday assignments. I have been a part of this school for 12 years now. My son now in 9th grade had been with ICS for 11 years including Preschool. I now have two more children in this school.
