I have worked for several of the largest landscaper companies in the USA for 32 years. I don't need a half hour lecture on mowing grass . I need my grass mowed when I request it. . His rates are also high. I was paying him $65 a mow for a Normal size, open yard. I just got a new quote 15 minutes later for $40 a mow, trim, edge and blow From a larger local competitor. With No sales games. No monthly contract. No 1/2 hour lecture. Just mow on request. They did do a good job and that's why I was willing to pay the little bit extra until they line trimmed my plants on the third mow and then he tried to bully me into a monthly mow contract. I specifically asked for treatment of my front lawn only, which is not a large piece of land to begin with. I explained several times to the agent on the phone that I do not need any service in my back yard, which I intend to have artificial turf installed. I was told that service would begin once they had my payment information so I was a bit shocked that someone showed up before I officially made any payment online. The day of my first treatment, my wife said someone rang the doorbell and then made their way to my back yard. I have a gate which was closed so there was no need for anyone to go back there. My wife knew someone from the lawn company was going to be at our home to treat the lawn but only in the front of the house. When she confronted the technician on why he was in our back yard, he told her that he was 'supposed to treat the entire property'. FALSE!!! I never authorized that. I immediately called the company while driving home and told them to just cancel everything. They lost me with being dishonest and I wouldn't doubt that they've done it before. Whenever a company is hired to do work, following the customer's instruction should always be paramount. When they don't, I see it as a huge red flag because it tells me there's a good chance they will do it again later with bigger situations.
