The next morning, she showed up bright and early with a smile on her face and ready to work. She set up her table on our lanai and started the massage with a beautiful Hawaiian chant. Such a beautiful voice and so relaxing. The massage was both effective and relaxing which was very refreshing! She worked out knots from my long flight but wasn't solely focused on deep tissue. She had a great balance of technique that left me relaxed and also feeling productive for my aching neck. I believe my therapist's name was Patty. It started out fine, but a few minutes in she was massaging my hands. I first thought she had deformed fingers as they felt short and stubby. They were also quite rough. It took me awhile to figure out those deformed hands were not deformed at all, they were her feet! She literally crawled up on the table and used her feet a lot. I have never heard of this and I have had many massages. I contemplated asking her to stop using her feet, but I wasn't comfortable doing so (I know my bad). I was relieved when she went back to her hands, which didn't last long as she was back using her feet. I couldn't relax as I was so bothered be someone's feet on my body. I kept praying it would be over. I have since looked this up and realize it is not uncommon. However, I strongly believe the therapist should have explained this up front and asked if I was comfortable with it. She did not say a word till the end when she asked if I liked Ashiatsu on my hips. I said yes as I had no idea what she was talking about and I really wanted to leave. I would not have agreed to this had she asked.
