I didn't want another surgery! It sucks!!! So Dr. Charous was 30 mins for our appt, but he did take his time to review my records and listen to me. We were both on the same page of putting surgery as a last resort. So we tried pills, breathing treatments, test, etc. for 4 months. He was out of options, so #4 surgery was on the table again. Did the surgery! Recovered and moving forward with treatments to prevent my allergies from flaring up to cause my sinuses to go crazies! So I am on drops for about a year now, and I am feel super! I was only down with a cold since August 2012 to today 8/10/13 (Normal my colds or flu turned into walking pneumonia or bronchitis - yeah that was my 2011 & 2012) . I have had a year of feeling like a human, no more lugging around tissue boxes. I still have several more drop treatments, but if year #1 is so good then bring it! I can enjoy life and be more active again. Yes, the con is the doctors are always running later on appt time.

1 Star I rarely…read moreleave 1-star reviews, so when I do, it means I was genuinely dissatisfied with my experience and would not return. To be fair, I had a positive experience with Dr. Taffet, and my son's ear tube surgery at St. Joseph's went very smoothly. However, the repeated issues I encountered with the front office staff and communication ultimately overshadowed the positives. My first experience with the office set the tone. I arrived 7 minutes late due to traffic within their parking lot while trying to manage a sick one-year-old with a 101-degree fever from recurrent ear infections and a very active two-year-old. I understand that I was late and that office policies must be followed, but the front desk employee was extremely dismissive and showed no empathy for the situation. I was turned away and told to come back later that afternoon. Another concerning experience occurred 15 days after my son's ear tube surgery. He developed what we later learned was an allergic reaction to anesthesia. When I called the after-hours line on a Saturday, I was told they only assist patients who are within 14 days of surgery. After explaining the situation, the representative eventually agreed to help but repeatedly stated that she would "get in trouble" for doing so. As a worried parent, that was not reassuring. The most frustrating experience involved my son's ongoing ear infections after tube placement. Multiple antibiotics had failed, and I left a voicemail explaining that I work night shift, sleep during the day, and I asked that my husband be contacted ASAP. No one called him that day. When I woke up and called the office, I was met with some of the rudest customer service I have experienced in healthcare. I was given no help before the office closed. My son spent the entire night awake and crying from an untreated ear infection. The next morning, we were simply told to use Ciprofloxacin ear drops that we ALREADY had at home. This information could have been communicated in under two minutes the evening before and would have saved my son a painful night. My baby developed full body hives immediately following his surgery, and we thought the cause was the Cipro ear drops, so that's why I was hesitant to give them. Turns out it was just the anesthesia, but we had no way of knowing that until we tried the Cipro drops again. I have worked in healthcare for 10 years, and what stood out most throughout these experiences was the lack of communication, empathy, and basic customer service. While I appreciated Dr. Taffet and had a positive surgical experience, the repeated issues with the office staff and follow-up care were significant enough that I would seek a different ENT provider in the future.

Thank you Lord for this beautiful day, I give thanks for your blessings. My angel woke sick today,…read moregive me the strength to hold and care for him through your glory and grace. Amen! As parents we have to choose. We have to make choices, those hard ones? Is it worth going to the doctor? It's just a fever! Let them sleep it off. Here's my story of why not to ignore a fever. Why not ignore a fever? A few years back I lost one of my sisters to the flu. It all started with a fever. So when any of my children, friends and families children we never mess around with a fever. The fever tells us "hey you, something is wrong here!" Take care of this please?! That's exactly while we are sitting here in the car waiting for further instructions on how to get checked in and all here at Urgent Care. Now that we are sitting in a waiting room, one other patient sits across from us. Beware with the new COVID rules going to the emergency room has a whole new set of rules. Usually, they only want the patient to be seen, even if they are a child. I have no time for this rule. I understand that we are trying to contain a virus and one never knows the diagnosis but what's it gonna hurt to have mama holding your hand. The nurse felt the same way and allowed me to accompany my son in the room in the back. All you need is the mask, but if you forget the ER staff has you. When you get sick all you want is mama? Connor kept looking back as he coughed from that cold bed. They stick him with needles to ensure that he's healthy. Tube after colorful tubes of his red blood flow out flooding the tube. He's such a trooper, not even screaming or crying. I can see it in his eyes, that glazed over look. He's so tired and can not breath with all that congestion. He wishes that he was able to cough it all up. When we came to the urgent care they are super through and asked Connor his level of pain. They put him on a sedative drip so that he could get comfortable. They informed me that since he came in with a 109 fever, he will not leave until it breaks. I agreed and left his health in their hands. As the nurses worked on us and other patients we were asked on numerous occasions if we were comfortable. The room that we were in had a bed that Connor relaxed in and I sat right next to the bed holding his hand. Remembering back when they were so young, I get lost in the memories as I sit here in silence. The room has a television and great privacy. As we wait I dozed off next to Connor. The doctor came back in what seemed such a short amount of time, or so it seemed. Needing that short nap after being up all night with Connor I feel fresh and awake now. Just need coffee. That's later back to Connor. Breaking the fever is key. The staff informed me that since it is so high, they need to put him in an ice bath. Temperatures that high can cause brain damage of not broken. The Tylenol and ibuprofen mix did not work, only bring it down a few degrees. Connor was put in an ice bath being dipped for five minutes in and then five minutes out for about thirty minutes. After attending and aiding the nurses that the color came back to Connor. He was put back in the bed in some fresh hospital digs with the drip medication put back into his veins. One can never know what's going to happen. It may seem such minimal impact that was done for Connor; he's healthy and smiling now. The fever is not all gone, but when we left it was 101. Instructions were given to me for continued home care. I was told they would call my phone and follow up with us. Now that we're home, the instructions that I was given were easy to follow. Any concerns that arise I was told to return immediately to the urgent care. I feel that the staffs kindness was one of the best blessings one can have. They eased my nerves and kept me calm. Yes us mamas tend to get emotional when our kids are sick. They sent the prescriptions to a local pharmacy. All this work was much appreciated. Knowing that this is just their job. Health care individuals put their lives in jeopardy every moment to celebrate your health and happiness. Much love to all the happiness and stillness that you were able to give my angel. Sometimes it feels that we continue to fail, putting off if the fever is just a wonderful little nothing. In the eyes of our children we are super hero's. Trust your instincts and know that you can do it! For our children their is nothing that we will not do. For you are brave, strong, and smart!
