We knew we wanted to go with Impressions because they are the only company officially licensed by Disney to custom Disney wedding invitations, etc. And of course, if we were going to get married at the Disneyland Hotel, we wanted to throw in some Disney into our invitations (even if it cost extra for licensing fees). So after we finalized the venue, we started to reach out to Impressions. They sent us a bunch of sample invitations to show us different invitation styles, fonts, and print styles.
And then... we still waited until the last minute to make up our mind. I'm somewhat amazed that at no point did Impressions just say, okay guys, I don't think you really want our business. Instead, they put up with what had to be one of their more indecisive + procrastinating clients. We picked our style, finalized the wording, put in our order, and received it in mid May (our RSVP cards said to RSVP by June 1), one day before we were about to take a trip.To save some money, we had not gotten the envelopes printed. I insisted we had to finish writing all the envelopes RIGHT THAT NIGHT, so they wouldn't arrive past the RSVP date. To make the whole scenario more complicated, I was still recovering from a very painful PRK eye surgery, and had not realized that somehow I scratched my eyeball after getting the bandaid contact lenses removed. So needless to say it was impossible -- we were both incredibly stressed and I mistakenly thought my blurry vision was from being tired (and not, you know, a post-op complication). We finished writing all the envelopes -- and then realized we had sealed them all up without putting in the actual RSVP cards. I would have cried if my eyes weren't already burning with pain!
We tried steaming the envelopes, we tried freezing them, but no dice. We screwed up so bad. We called Shelley at Impressions with the bad news. She calmed us down and expressed over more envelopes (we paid for the pre-printing of addresses this time). Everything was made right. We should have paid that much extra up front for them to assemble our invitations -- it would have saved us time, stress, maybe even my eyeball! And of course, after all that trouble... we basically went through the exact same thing with Impressions again with our table cards lol.
I really would not have blamed Impressions for refusing our business or getting aggravated with us. We were terrible customers. We called them twice with "oh my god we should have done this weeks ago" situations. But instead, they still treated us with great customer service and really just saved us. They were always upbeat and enthusiastic. It's really easy to see that the situation could have easily been worse -- we could have wound up sending our invitations late, or with no table cards -- but instead, that stressful night just became a little bump in the road that they guided us through. Thanks Amanda and Shelley of Impressions for being so awesome!! read more
