I've been going to Importico's Bakery Cafe in Fort Pierce for over a year+ and enjoyed my visits and a few of their products. But Never Again! Unfortunately, on Saturday, April 25th, I was shocked when Angie, the elderly woman that runs it, blatantly and wrongfully accused me of behavior so deeply offensive and appalling insult that it felt like a physical attack, a punch in the gut. This left me emotionally reeling all weekend and my character unjustly assaulted. Upon Entering I approached the counter and she says with the most contemptuous look, "You really left the bathroom a mess yesterday!" However discreet, I was so taken aback by the degrading and grave insult. She could've waited until the customers at the register left, then ASKED me If I am the one that did it, giving me an opportunity to defend myself properly! Fact; when I went into the bathroom that Friday morning, the door was closed which I knew she always left open, the light was left on, which I "Never" do, toilet paper from a loose roll was strewn across the bar of rolls and on the floor, so I tore off the scattered strip off and threw it in the waste bin, something I did NOT have to do. Afterward, I flushed (as always), put the extra roll on the back of the commode, washed my hands and then even Wiped out the Sink that had Hair in it, also Something I didn't have to do! Upon leaving, I turned the light out, as that's the way I was raised, and butted the door up against the table so it'd stay open, the way I'd always found it since the 1st day I ever set foot in the shop. Then...I sat at the little table, charged and spend time on my cell phone, and drank my Chai for approximately 45 minutes. What kind of loyal (local) customer would mess up a businesses bathroom then stick around for 45 minutes?! Think about it, Angie! For as long as I'd been patronizing the establishment, I'm All of a Sudden going to "leave a Mess" in a bathroom of a business that I support?! It's beyond my Comprehension to even imagine such a thing, let alone be Falsely Accused of such a disgusting act!!! She should've given me the Benefit of the Doubt considering I've NEVER EVER done Anything so Disrespectful!!!! I have self-respect and more class than to make a "mess of a bathroom" Anywhere! She should've thanked me!!! I've never left a mess in a bathroom in my entire life and I'm not gonna change into an ill-mannered A-hole at the age of 70!! I wouldn't have left the door open, the way she likes it, leaving other customers to see the "mess" I was accused of creating! It's Not in my Character!!! It obviously never occurred to her that it could've been the girl that came in off the street that Angie allowed to use their bathroom, then left. They were busy so no one checked after that gal left an I NEVER went in a 2nd time! However it could've also been anyone after I left. Think about That! Maybe why businesses only let paying Patrons use their bathrooms. I was raised to respect other people's property and having been a business owner myself, would Never leave any type of "mess" for someone else to clean up!! I loath litterers! When I see litter under the seaway bridge or in a free public lot it makes my blood boil so I call the county, send photos to ask that they please catch and fine the litterers and in the meantime, ask what's going to be done about it! I don't LIVE like That! I have higher Standards...so Angie's Accusation was Extremely Hurtful and berating!!! I HATE BEING BLAMED FOR SOMETHING I DIDN'T DO!!!! ONLY A LOW LIFE WOULD DO SUCH A A PIGGISH, SPITEFUL, LOATHSOME ACT!!! Considering I've been Accused (falsely), Judged and Sentenced, I now have the Right to "Leave a Mess in her Bathroom"! You can only penalize someone for a crime once, and in this case, a Crime I DID NOT Commit! I AM INNOCENT of THIS ACCUSATION!! I AM OWED AN APOLOGY!!! I'm aware I'll Never Get, being the email I sent on this matter not received a response! So hence this Review. I HATE being BLAMED for Something I DIDN'T Do!!! I will NEVER patronize Importico's again! Went to the farmers market this Saturday and purchased a $7 almond croissant. Got it home couldn't even bite it. The entire thing was tough. I literally was showing my friend by putting two hands on the Croissant and pulling it from between my teeth, and it would not rip. It's very unfortunate because the flavor of the almond filling was delicious. I'm hoping they will make up for this disappointment. One thing about moving to Fort Pierce is the amazing Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. Stopped into the physical bakery on a Saturday morning. Beautiful space with large cases for pastry and tons of fresh bread on shelves behind it. Staff was very friendly. I was originally disappointed when the staff said no kalamata rosemary bread; until they realized most products were at the Farmers Market. Sherry and I shared a delicious flakey chocolate croissant. I bought the bread for dinner and man was it good! Crunchy outside, chewy inside with so much flavor and even more olives studding the loaf. Perfect loaf of bread. Tip - go early as I've been there at opening 8:00 and there are tons of choices and also at 11;00 when it's pretty well empty. Good reasons why! So so good!! read more

I received a Spinach Quiche, a Quiche Loraine, 1/2 lb of chicken salad, 1/2 lb of tuna salad, and a Greek salad in that order. I then ordered key lime tart, éclair, cheese cake and a turnover from the goodies counter. Everything was superb and amazing. The website is nice, but doesn't include both locations information. That is probably why the order made for me from out of state went to the location in Stuart instead of Ft. Pierce. It was appreciated when the staff at the Ft. Pierce location went above and beyond to process the order there and contacted the Stuart location to correct location. It might behoove the website be set up to include both locations. A really cute bakery with so much to offer. When we arrived around 3:00 pm they were sold out of many items. I had coffee and chocolate biscotti. The coffee was old. I had a hard time drinking it. The cookie was dry and had too much chocolate . I just wasn't impressed. I think I might have made the wrong choice . My mother has a delicious gluten free bar with raisins and coconut. The zuchinni brownie was rich and tasted like fudge . The very best thing about this visit was a loaf of seedless Italian bread. It had the right amount of crust and was chewy. I've recently become obsessed with this place. I have tried all the local spots for coffee, and I can't find anything better than here. It's smooth and delicious, even black. I usually stick to items I know are just going to be good, but I have been trying new things each time I go, and I have yet to be disappointed. I've had their regular BLT, which is delicious, But I recommend the chicken BLT. It comes with large chunks of chicken. I recommend the Tuscan bread for that sandwich! The quiche Lorraine was creamy and delicious. I really like their side of pasta salad also! The 5 grain round is my absolute favorite bread to take home. They will slice it for you! Toasted with a little butter; amazing. I just purchased a loaf of their jalapeno cheddar bread, and wow! Fantastic flavors with a light spice. If you're going to try anything, the coconut macaroons. I was in there the other day and the person ordering answered their phone and started chit chatting casually, the Lady running the counter told her to get out of line and took the next person in line and said "punishment for being on your phone while I'm trying to run a business" and honestly, IM HERE FOR THAT ENERGY. This is a cute shop with a lot of options for dessert. I tried the flourless chocolate torte, which was the perfect amount of sweet and was a great size. I loved the chocolate shell covering it, although that did make it a little hard to eat with just a fork, so if you're taking it to go be sure to grab a knife. I had expected it to be straight up chocolate, so I wasn't particularly enthused by the strawberry frosting on top and and mint drizzle on the sides, but there was such a small amount of these that it didn't really detract from the cake itself. This was our first time trying Importicos'. We got there around 8:30-9:00 on a Saturday and , unfortunately, they were out of a lot of items. We ended up with a ham and cheese croissant and a pecan tartlet. Both items were good; I probably liked the tartlet better, but my husband preferred the croissant. We then went into the market they had going on and got a bear claw from their booth. It was just ok. Overall, this place was just ok on food. I ordered a croissant stuffed with egg and cheese. The croissant tasted stale and could not be cut with the plastic knife they provided. Parts of it were so tough you could barely bite through it. Had a mixed experience here. We deliberately searched for a good bakery for croissant. In the area, real baked goods are hard to come by because there's a seriously dense older/ retiree population who buys theirs at Wal-Mart & Publix. So high end baked goods are rare. So we got some other sweets and 2 ice teas. The young man and young woman who waited on us were very nice. Everything great until...we get outside to sit in the sun and the two ice teas are severely sweet. Neither of us likes southern sweet tea so my wife goes back in to exchange them and that when an older woman lets my wife have it. She shakes the pitcher at her telling her "we don't sell sweet tea". Now, I'm not sure why they were super sweet but I do know it costs pennies to fill a cup w tea. I sell fresh brewed in my own business. Why on God's green earth would you yell and make the customer feel like an idiot? Then she told my wife, "I'll replace them, but that's on you". Came highly recommended and for a good reason. Plenty of good pastries to chose! We chose the croissant and a cinnamon roll to go. We also bought a baguette for a later meal that day. It was labeled under french baguette but was a sourdough. So different but we still managed to eat it! The counter was stocked with quiche, pastries, and plenty of bread. In a vacation spot with bit too many cafés, this is a good gem in the middle of Historic Fort Pierce. Just a quick jaunt in the car from Hutchinson Island head to Importicos for a late morning coffee and pastry or quiche. On a nice day, sit out front overlooking the county court house. I tried the chocolatine and grabbed a cappuccino. Chocolatine was good but could have had a flakier crust (good Belgian chocolate) and the cappuccino was really more like a medium latte with a little foam. (Should be more foam!)
