Coffee needed serious help but the pastries and continental options were great. I had a five star experience at a three star hotel in a two star neighborhood. The bungalow was nice and cosy with good air conditioning. There was a lot of wildlife such as stray cats birds and even a pet dog. The food served at both breakfast and lunch was great. If you wanted to save yourself from the wonderful pasta and pizza of Italy for your dinner then look no further than the burger. I know it was only but the mozzarella on the burger was incredible. It was close enough to the square. However I was debating one whether or not to put it down to four because the road on the hill that takes you to the square was extremely nerve racking with no pavement and tight walking room, with bikes and cars whizzing past. But that's not their fault and that's why it's still five stars. Just be careful when there. The trips that you could book with Villaggio were much better and cheaper than our airline. It was also much more personal. We went to the Amalfi Coast day trip and had a wonderful tour guide called chiro (no clue how to spell his name) who was just incredible. When it rained heavily he made sure we all got to the car safely and looked genuinely concerned when we couldn't find an old couple on the trip. We also went to pompei half day and our tour guide roberto was also very kind. When he realised one of the couples on the trip didn't speak a word of English he tried to accommodate them as best as possible. All in all will be coming back.

We never used the kitchen but I wouldn't have anyways because they do not provide any cleaning products to wash the dishes you use. The A/C works during certain hours but we were out most of the day so it didn't matter. The bathroom shower stall is really small but manageable. The drain had some issues and I had to be careful not to have the shower on full blast or else it would fill up too fast and overflow out of the shower stall. The water pressure is very strong so I didn't want it on all the way anyways. It was nice to have a porch to sit on in the evening and relax. Our room didn't have a bottle opener and the front desk gladly opened up our bottle for us. They have a continental breakfast for 5€ but I never went.

My family of four did the tickets to climb Vesuvius plus transportation from Naples morning trip. I…read morehave to say it went way better than I anticipated based on other reviews. The bus left Naples promptly at 9:10. The bus was clean and not full. I had read from reviews that you had to get on the Vesuvius Park wifi and receive your tickets by Whatsapp; that was not our experience. When we arrived at Vesuvius, the trip organizer had to download the tickets to his phone via the visitor center wifi. This took about 20 minutes (there must be a reason they can't do this in advance). He then gave us each paper vouchers, and he showed the park staff all of the tickets on his phone. I expected this delay so I was not bothered by it. Some others grumbled a bit. It seemed like an improvement from the older process. They gave us a full two hours based on when we were all set to enter. It was more than enough time (maybe too much time) to climb up, take pictures along the way, stop at souvenir shops and wait for the bathroom. The parking lot was crowded, but small, very easy to find the bus and be ready to return to Naples. Be warned, it was far colder and windier on Vesuvius than in Naples. Some unfortunate visitors were wearing shorts for the hike, but it was winter hat and gloves weather in April. Vesuvio Express was a great solution for our family - I had been disappointed to see tickets on the park's website to be sold out. Plus this saved me the trouble of coordinating public transportation.

He is a local for Sorrento and gave us a great recommendation for dinner every nite (see Trattoria de Emilia). He obviously has good relationships everywhere he goes and knows just about everyone since he's been a driver for 20 years. Our second day was whisked off to the Amalfi Coast and he siggested a new route to allocate our time best in the places we really wanted to go to. He also gave us great stops along the way we never would have known about (grotto, ceramic shop..) and were well worth it. He suggested a restaurant for lunch, and though, as the previous states there may be a deal between the drivers and the restaurants, we didn't have to pay for the driver's meal nor did we feel pushed into going to this restaurant. It also was not as expensive as the below states. Our third day started with an Olive Oil factory tour and off to Pompeii and a winery at the bottom of Vesuvius before we took the hike to the top. He also took us to all the best stops for pictures along the way and got us a lemon sorbet treat. Yum! Personally, I think the cost of a private driver for Sorrento and the sights is absolutely worth every penny. You are on your own schedule, can change your trip at any moment, and something I would do again and again. Nello is a must!

When we arrived via cruise ship, the driver from Alviani Viaggi, Nello was waiting. The van was late model, clean and comfortable and Nello's English was good. Off to Sorrento where Nello parked and we arranged to be back to continue on to the Amalfi coast drive. But actually, we discovered later the four of us wanted to stay in Sorrento but thought the other wanted to do the Almalfi drive. Nello seemed to be pressing us to get going because we had a lot to see and we wanted to be back to the ship at 4:30pm. Nello took us to a restaurant of his choosing for lunch. We had seafood pasta (I had pasts pomodoro as I am not a big seafood eater), a seafood platter, 2 liters of house wine and dessert. The location was nice and we ate and were presented A BILL FOR $300 US!!! Yes, a lunch for 4 people and the driver for $300 US dollars. When I asked Nello about a pizza place I was interested in he said it was in a dangerous neighborhood. So we were taken advantage of and not happy. I initially thought to say avoid Nello but then I decided the company probably knows about it since Nello has worked there for many years. I would avoid Alviani Viaggio at all costs in the future.

Speaking of smiles... shoutout to Alfonso the waiter and Alfonso the bartender/owner (yes, two Alfonsos--iconic). Both were incredibly warm, welcoming, and just genuinely lovely people. One positive point of the hotel was that our friend from Napoli was driving us to the hotel and we were worried this small hotel might not be open when we got there around midnight - however, we did call and they were there to open the doors for us. I recommend having a guide at Pompeii, because the sites don't have signs and information like in a museum. My two kids, ages 10 and 14, were engaged by the guide and learned a lot. Only reason for four stars is the location of the property; it is located in an area where trying to get to your hotel or leaving your hotel is quite a trek. Cars do not fit on the narrow road so even getting a cab from there is impossible. The bus stop is a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. If you plan to stay here, be ready to walk quite a bit to get to food/restaurants, etc. Also, we needed a cab in the morning for an early flight and the staff could not reach anyone to come pick us up so we had to haul three luggage down that road all the way to the bus stop, then walk to ferry from there. So basically you're on your own.
