Wow, our experience has been nothing like Jason J.'s. We tried it for the first time through a coupon for a free month or so, and my son LOVED IT!! So, since my son has always had problems to committing to anything beyond his video games, we signed up for the 6-month trial. I wasn't even approached to sign him up - I went to them and asked for information on what was available beyond the free month. Mr. Jim gave me the info I requested (both on the trial period for 6 months and the black belt club for beyond that) and then they allowed me to review it and decide what we wanted to do. Our 6 months is coming to an end with the next belt test, and again, I went to the staff and requested info for the black belt club, and just signed him up for that. I have seen my son go from a kid who only cared about playing video games to someone who loves his Taekwondo class, from which he has gained a tremendous amount of self-confidence and skill! It has increased his confidence in school and with his friends, along with his level of respect to his parents, as well. My son is the youngest of 5 kids, and we went through both karate and taekwondo at a number of different places with the older kids - ALL of them much more expensive than this place, with teachers who did more yelling than anything. The instructors here are incredibly supportive and positive, which has helped my son thrive. I wish my older kids had had the opportunity to learn at Han Lee's - maybe they would have stayed with it. The bottom line is that I highly recommend them!! And, I've never experienced the "tough sell" that the other guy described to any degree whatsoever. read more

Good, quality TKD instruction is offered here for a wide range of participants although it is predominantly focused on kids and their development. Kids (and adults) have a visually identifiable path for progress and skill development with the color belt system. The real benefits are the emphasis on discipline, respect for others, and character development as well the physical aspects of Tae Kwon Do. Mr. Han Lee and his staff are very professional and hold to standards that have developed over time. Mr. Lee himself was an TKD Olympic Athlete on the U.S. Team and also a U.S. Olympic Team Coach. We've had my son enrolled for almost 6 months and I subsequently joined him about 2 months ago as a father-son experience and because of the appeal of Han Lee's TKD Academy mission and their holistic focus on the development of youth. Each child receives a binder to chart their progress on a variety of focus areas outside of the TKD training received at school (respect for others, character and academic development, emphasis on reading, helping around the house, etc.). Mr. Han Lee has designed a school and an environment that reinforces character and citizenship development. The school is also active in the community (parades, open-house youth activities, a haunted house open to the community). The Han Lee TKD Academy is also a small business that appears to have a successful model of operation. This is a first-class, premium academy. We have been impressed with Mr. Han Lee, his leadership in the community, and the focus of the TKD Academy, and will very likely continue my son's involvement in the long-term. read more

My son has been a student of Grand Master Lee for almost 10 years. He will be testing for his 3rd degree Black Belt in the next few months. Grand Master Lee, owner of Han Lee's Taekwondo Academy; formerly known as US Taekwondo Center is a great coach, person and mentor. We feel like we are part of his family as he has watched our son grow and we have done the same with his children. As a former US Olympic Coach and a medalist in the Olympics for Taekwondo, he knows firsthand how to train, inspire and teach my son and all the students he has fostered over the years. Putting my son in Han Lee's Taekwando is one of the best things I've done for him. Bennie had tried soccer and track by 7 but wasn't enjoying them and he had a hard time behaving at practice. He did have some behavior problems and low self esteem. The first thing that the TKD instructor Miss Michelle talked about was confidence, respect and fun, and thats what Bennie has been learning there ever sense. The program teaches the children to respect instructors, parents, teachers and their peers. In return that is what they receive. The students are also recognized for good scores on homework and test, good behavior at home and chores and reading. My son started to really take his good grades serious so he could earn an attitude stripe for his belt. And would try to do his chores without my asking. With every new kicking combination or other skill he learned his confidence went up and his hard work would be recognized by a stripe for his belt or when he moved up a belt color at an exciting belt graduation ceramony shared with peers, family and Han Lee himself. The Staff also put on picnics, parents night out, 3 summer camps, demonstrations at local schools, bring a friend week and much more. There is always something fun coming up. I am so blessed to have my son and I envolved in such a wonderful program. He enjoys this sport and the instructors are amazing at working with his behavior issues and teaching him a new way to live. I have been in this studio from the very beginning. My 11 year-old son was the first student. Our first year was taught by the Grandmaster, who's name appears on the front of the building, Han Wan Lee. His instruction was over the top fantastic. Being part of his organization is a huge privilege, and his instructors are all top notch. I am working into an instructor position, but even with my long experience as a baseball coach and other experiences instructing kids and adults, I have a ways to go. This is not a shallow pool. The experience of this organization is fantastic. Grandmaster Lee competed well in the Olympics, earning a medal, and instructed Olympic Taekwondo for some ten years, much of it for the US team in Colorado Springs. He is presently in China coaching the US Olympic team. He, and his team of instructors are extremely deep. The investment in activities like this is a bit high. Many times it is not worth the money. But Han Lee TKD is totally worth the money. The return on investment just keeps coming, and gets better the farther you go. Kids end up being solid instructors with 2nd and 3rd degree black belts. There are many ways to teach kids to embrace long-term learning of complex tasks; baseball, for example, has always been great. But it doesn't get better than Taekwondo in this organization; you don't just learn taekwondo. Your kids learn a strong voice, a proactive,goal-oriented lifestyle, the ability to have empathy while instructing with strength. read more

This location of Han Lee 's Taekwondo Academy, like the other locations on the Front Range, does an outstanding job of teaching discipline, positive attitude, patience, and above all top notch Taekwondo skills. My two 10 year old daughters have loved the compassion and dedication the teachers exhibit on a daily basis and appreciate their concern and endless encouragement to improve their martial art skills. There is always a friendly hello when arriving at Han Lee's Taekwondo followed by a focused class that keeps the students engaged. The teaching by the instructors is excellent and always geared to the needs of the students. As a parent, it is great to witness the development of a solid student/teacher bond that also becomes a lasting friendship. All the students are also friendly and are consistently helping each other develop and improve, which enhances learning and creates a wondering environment. After 4 years, both of my daughters have achieved 1st degree black belt status and my wife and I could not be prouder. It is very special to have two daughters at such a young age be black belts and to have experienced and succeed within such a highly disciplined and demanding program. My son has attended Han Lee's Academy in Highlands Ranch for the past year. I can't rave enough about Michelle and her husband's leadership and teaching skills! Not only is my son learning Taekwondo skills, but his attention span, self-confidence, and coordination have all significantly increased. So much of what he learns at Han Lee's directly impacts his behavior at home and functioning at school. And they make it so much fun that my son doesn't even realize he's "learning." Michelle is especially skilled at motivating and focusing young, hyper, energetic little boys! Not only has her magic worked on my son but I've seen many other boys join his class and they've learned self-control too! My son started going to classes here about 6 months ago. Initially we thought he would just be learning Tae Kwan Do. What we have discovered is that they teach so much more: Confidence, Leadership, Caring, Compassion. I feel we could not have consider a better school to help him grow into the strong young man we know he will be. Their staff is professional and courteous to both the parents and the students, and I have never felt "pressured" or forced.. That being said, yes, be prepared for additional expenses on top of your monthly membership, but what activity does not have this? Soccer has shoes, a ball, membership fees, etc. Horse riding....Ballet.....you get the idea. If you are considering enrolling your son or daughter (or even yourself!) in a Martial Arts school, give Han Lee's Academy serious consideration. read more

My son and I are in Taekwondo together and it truly is a wonderful bonding experience for us. Han Lee's Taekwondo Academy teaches valuable life skills such as self confidence, respect, leadership, commitment, and of course how to protect yourself and, if needed, others. Classes are fun and challenging and the experience is as rewarding as YOU decide to make it. And it's truly a privilege to train with and under the guidance of an American Olympic medalist in Taekwondo, Han Lee himself! The review from 2010 is outdated and I've never heard of anyone having an experience like that with the current ownership. I would recommend Han Lee's Taekwondo Academy to anyone....kids as well as adults of any age! And I would strongly encourage parents to join and share the experience with your children. Our son has been going to Han Lee since October and his concentration and manners have improved ten-fold! He's 5 so that's a challenge in itself. The classes are great for building character and for running some energy out of the kiddos! The obstacle course drills and "Splat" game are his favorites, and the curriculum of kicks, blocks, and strikes are reinforced in each class. The "perserverance" section has been a great talking point in our home for our son finishing homework, chores, etc. We'll be going here for a long time to come! read more

We started on a recommendation from a friend, and how well the time slot worked for us and my son was hooked! He intends to continue class until he is a black belt. He wants to do any extra event the school has, even if we have to skip cub scouts. Occasionally, NOT going to Taekwondo is a punishment I threaten my son with.
