I took the very first class to be offered in Columbus. It's been a really long time ago, I don't remember the year. I do remember it as one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I was so impressed with the program that I took two other classes that were offered- Defense against Weapons and Multiple Assailants and also volunteered as an assistant for a couple of Basics classes after that. While I am very happy to have the physical self defense skills committed to my muscle memory, I most appreciate the behavioral techniques that we learned that can help avoid having to use those skills. The community and unity that I felt with all of my groups was a blessing as well. This course teaches full force self defense for real world scenarios. I have lived all over the world and it is applicable everywhere. It covers the psychological and physical points of avoiding and getting out of assault scenarios. Having been assaulted, it exactly mimicked many scenarios and then taught me to fight my way out it. The psychological value of knowing how to fight my way out of any future assault scenario is deeply healing to both the past and to reduce anxiety about the future. It helped reduce my PTSD. I wish I had taken this course as a young teenager. I strongly recommend this course before going to college for every woman and girl on earth. read more
