We were also given numbers of the hospital if we had any questions as we would be in quarantine after getting tested & we called multiple times & didn't get an answer every time. We actually had to get in contact with the organization we agreed to release our information to for data in order to know what our results were. As we had no way of getting ahold of the hospital we had to wait until we were done with quarantine and had to drive to this place ourselves to ask for a paper copy of our results in order to return to work. Unless you go to the actual building, communication is absolutely impossible. Other than that the staff here is really nice & easy to talk to so I will give at least 4 stars as I understand we are going through a pandemic and they are very busy.

What followed was a complete failure to deliver even basic, safe care. Caregivers were routinely late or didn't show up at all. Despite clear instructions that my mother was to receive care only from female caregivers, they sent a male caregiver anyway. Many caregivers appeared poorly trained and were unable to assist with mobility as promised. On one occasion, a caregiver dropped my mother on the floor. Even more alarming, caregivers failed to follow critical instructions to properly thicken her food and beverages. This failure resulted in pneumonia, an emergency room visit, and hospitalization, forcing us to end services early. Since then, Home Helpers has refused to return our calls and has not refunded the money owed, including the deposit and unused prepaid care. This company showed a shocking lack of accountability, competence, and concern for patient safety. If you are considering Home Helpers for an elderly or vulnerable loved one, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere.

So this review is an outsiders perspective. There are some amazing, fabulous people working here. I'd say 97% of the people I interacted with were stellar! And I think the select few uncaring, ignorant staffers would be found anywhere - I don't know how they could eliminate all of them - but I know they try! Food in the cafeteria used to be AMAZING!! Seriously there were many time I thought I should go eat there JUST for the food. Sadly when I was there for 3 weeks in Dec 2016 the food was NOT the yumminess I remember. The sandwich bar is still good!! I especially love the pretzel bun! And they're made to order using quality ingredients. Not skimpy either - nicely done on the balance of ingredients! However the entree and sides that in the past tasted small batch homemade and nutritious (aka not fried) have become industrial, prepackaged glop and mostly fried and/or dried out. The best line was someone's comment that the roast turkey was so dried out it looked like "toast"!! Ha ha ha! Highlight - 2nd floor coffee shop!! A real espresso machine and ab fab smoothies! They also have tasty sweet treats and usually at lunch a soup (which may or may not match the cafeteria)! Speaking of coffee - some floors have free and accessible coffee, tea, ice, etc but some don't - I encourage you to walk around or ask! If you have to be in a hospital this is probably one of the best around. They have some of the BEST specialists in the entire region. I especially think the Walker Heart Institute is amazing! You'd have to go to a much larger metropolitan area to do better! Best advice - stay out of hospitals - they are not a good place to be . It's been literally back and forth every few months where I'll call, they say they're working on it, and then I'll call back a few months later and nothing happens. Last I spoke to them (Feb 2026), they said they thought they found the issue and would submit the claim again. Today I just got a collection letter for $12,000 from a law firm, and it's for over $4,000 more than the original statement. I call the hospital, and they tell me after 30 minutes on the call, "Oh, you were supposed to backdate his insurance 30 days!" But it's too late, and there's nothing I can do as insurance won't process a claim 2 years later. I'm in tears, and the supervisor was just extremely rude telling me how it's my fault for not being on top of it myself. And that they've repeatedly tried to contact me about it, which isn't true. I've returned every call from the hospital if I knew it was from them.
