A kicked-up farmers market with several rows of vendors selling produce, tapas, fish, cocktails,…read morecoffee, and specialty products. The market's natural perimeter is dotted with sit-down cafes if you prefer to have table service. Organized, good variety, good atmosphere. It is rare when a market that sells a lot of fish, does not reek of fish from a block away, so it is a very clean market and we saw evidence of constant clean-up. Delicious and impressive spot to grab a few little bites to eat your way through the market, or to bring back with a bottle of wine for your hotel picnic when you're hungry but your tired tourist bod can't bear a full service din din.

Prices are a little higher, but in line with a specialty or gift store. Depends on how much you like your friends! :) Great selection of snacks - which is totally up my alley! Go all the way to the back for chocolate! When I came here there was basically one to really help me so the service was basically none to speak of. But then again, how often do you have service in a specialty/ gift store? lol! Def recommend if you're in the area and want some snacks for your travels or to tote back home!
This is my kind of grocery store....basically it's all snacks…read more They have an insane variety of nuts, chocolates and other goodies. We came in to get some turron - the Spanish treat that I had every year for Christmas. However, the one they make here is 1000x-2000x better than the one you get in the US. That's just an estimation though, not exact numbers. Skip the key chains and magnets come here for the souvenirs for friends. While it can be a little pricier, they will thank you. We got a couple of varieties: Chocolate & hazelnut - Amazing! My favorite - it hurt me very much to give my wife the last chunk, since she couldn't eat the harder ones....but that's what husbands do. Creamy milk chocolate with PLENTY of hazelnuts. Alicante - my second favorite and the one I grew up eating. This is an almond/nuggat turron that's super hard and has a thin coat of candy paper (I think that's what it is) on top. This was always my favorite growing up and is what I consider to be the more traditional one. Crema quemada - basically translates to "burnt cream" this one tastes like a soft creme brûlée candy bar! It's super sweet, but delicious and will have you licking your fingers. Aside from the delicious turron they also have dehydrated fruits (which is what the name of the store translates to), nuts and other candies. They also have a few more varieties of turron for you to choose from and they come in various sizes. We also bought some powered cocoa to make hot chocolate at home. Customer service was bipolar here. The gentleman we asked for something was super helpful. The cashier - which I think was the owner - wasn't the nicest and I felt he was just rushing everyone of of the store once they got to the point to pay. He seemed a little bothered when I was unsure if he should charge my card in euro or dollars.....he kinda just huffed and pressed whatever. Either way his bitterness is HEAVILY outweighed by his sweets!

However, there are genuine contenders like Mercat de Sant Antoni housed in a beautiful, mid-19th-century octagon-shaped building (review: https://yelp.to/QfoN2pYfE_) and this one just rebuilt in 2005 with a kaleidoscopic roof designed as a ceramic wave. It's a more modern space inside with fresh seafood and produce stands alternating with spice purveyors and prepared food counters. All of it looked appetizing though there wasn't much seating on the premises. Through its various iterations in the atmospheric La Ribera neighborhood, the market has been here since 1848. On the southern side, there are remnants of a monastery that existed for seven centuries before that. RELATED - Exploring Barcelona?
