I'm not too sure what a Master Wheeler is (if in fact it is not just a grammatical error), but I…read moretook a risk and allowed the Master(s) to have a go at my hair. The cut came in at £9, a price that is relatively cheap for Brighton standards. As for the cut itself, I was pleasantly surprised. On the front of the shop there are the old fashioned barber's red and white striped props, something that didn't fill me with hope (Mum took me to a barber as a child and let me get hair cuts that made me look like a large mushroom). The gentlemen who cut my hair was friendly and knowledgable though, asking me how I wanted my hair cut and what I wanted it to look like. He pretty much hit the nail on my head in terms of my request, leaving me to depart feeling pretty well happy.

The Floor is essentially a good value, middle-of-the-road salon with aspirations for bigger things…read more The stylish décor makes you feel confident in the unquestionable expertise of the staff, who are all very accommodating and able. With a bloke's cut and finish starting at £20 the cost is appropriate for the quality of what you get. If you want the best quality you can choose to have your cut done by one of their most senior art directors and this will only cost you £35. At Toni & Guy you'd spend at least that on a standard cut. They also offer various colour treatments and movements including permanent curling and straightening. As with all places the quality of your cut will depend to a certain extent on your ability to communicate what you want but with such attentive stylists you shouldn't have much trouble in this department. It's definitely a reliable place to sort out your follicular misshapenness.

Supercuts is one of the few household names nationwide, and even across the globe for…read moresalon/hairdressing treatments, they have grown in the UK of late, now with over 180 stores (which is still not even 10% the amount of the US!), this store seems to have missed the modernisation which most branches have received, it feels very similar to a branch in a small town such as Oldham, with Brighton and Hove being the UK's biggest seaside resort city, you'd expect more. When you go into the store, you can see there's a nail bar, which looks like a school fair stall it only has a piece of paper to say who its run by and that it only accepts cash, the smell coming from it is so strong, I really couldn't cope it long enough to just have my dry cut, so I'd feel bad for any woman having a longer hair treatment. The staff also seemed a little rude, lazy and like they didnt care, sitting on their phones in front of customers, and with people waiting! A small branch, which seems to be left behind in Supercuts' modernisation and growth plans in the UK, it feels like they don't care, like they have given up, and for customers to see that it shows the store needs to change soon, or this unit will soon be vacant in Brighton's Churchill Square. 1*
