I'm advising you not to have your event there! first of all there's no air conditioning,the food was cold, the salad was hot, the red drink they had was horrible, the service was terrible! We had a celebration of life there on one of the hotest day of the year Saturday July 29,and to add insult my nephew that lost his Mom was told on that same day, that he couldn't have his Moms ashes there. The coordinator is the worst, the place is very dirty, just see all the other reviews to prove how terrible this hall, the owner and personnel is. Vicky double books events. She ended up calling me leaving me a voicemail to tell me if I was sure about my quinceañera date because she had another client interested when I had already paid and booked the date. After that call I was afraid of loosing my quinceañera date, returned the call and booked an appointment she never showed up to. Re-booked another appointment that she was 1 hr late for. Don't waste your money at this Illusion Hall. The service received was awfull. They started late setting up the hall, the floors where dirty, the bathrooms where dirty one bathroom had no electricity. The dance floor was wobbly felt like you were going to sink in the floor. The DJ had the wrong music for the quiceanera dance and the music was not on point. The food seved was no appetizing it was cold and no salt or any flavor the sauce on the chicken was not enough. Came here for a local event not too long ago. It was a pop up shop type event and it was very crowded. I did not notice any staff specific to the venue, but they could've been camouflaged into the crowd. Overall this venue is very dated and old. Nothing really seems to be updated. There's a second floor loft area apart from the hall on the main floor that gives off attic feels. With that said, I suppose the right decor can transform any open space. On the day of the quince which was 1/10/2025, the owner was unprofessionally trying to sell the venue to another potential client while ignoring her current client. They make you supply your own party cups for your party. Made up plywood bar, no one knew the birthday girl's name all night, dance floor was glitching all night, tried to charge the client for services not used or agreed upon prior to service (did not use the limo service they provide because they over charge), food was terrible, they had one server for 100 people so you can imagine the service. My friend began cutting the cake as they did not tend to any duties in a timely manner. No sparklers during the mother daughter dance as promised, and none of this has been addressed! Vickie & her daughter Natalie were awesome with us & or preparation for our daughter's Quince. I couldn't ask for anyone better. From day one to the last minute of the party they were there guiding us & running the show. Planning a Quince takes a lot of time & decisions & stressful headaches but thanks to Vickie & Natalie it went pretty smooth. Vickie also helps a lot with connections & info needed with the party, like a DJ Limo, cake makers, photographers, caterers, etc etc. Also they are very affordable compared to other Halls. When you first walk in the Hall don't let the small room fool you, the day of the party they will make it look beautiful & it fits a good amount of people we had 150 easy. The job they do to put it together is amazing & her staff was awesome, fast, attentive & friendly. Me & my wife especially loved Natalie her daughter, she did a great job with the kids & me in teaching us the dances for the party. I also love that they got a VIP upstairs with a balcony for the kids. I saw someone in Yelp complain about her streaming the event haha, that's a dumb complaint. There is nothing wrong with that, as the owner she should do that & promote her hall & event on her social media. The staff is there to work & she's there just to make sure everything is ok & her staff was great. I had 2 other interviews with 2 other Halls & both owners said they wouldn't even be at the event the day of so I'm happy Vickie was there. DONT DO IT!! I dodged a bullet! I strongly advise you NOT to book with this coordinator! I was close to booking Illusion Hall for my daughter's quinceañera when Vicki assured me the date I wanted was available. However, when I arrived to pay the deposit, she suddenly claimed the date was unavailable and pushed me to change to another date, mentioning she had other halls. Frustrated, I ended up booking a community center but decided to still use Vicki's coordination services, as well as her linens, chairs, etc. Little by little, I came to regret that decision. Vicki is the most unprofessional and disorganized coordinator I have ever encountered. She never remembered my name, my daughter's name, or our event date. She rarely answered her phone or responded to messages, and she even missed one of our scheduled appointments. During one appointment to view the centerpieces, despite having told her my daughter's colors and theme multiple times, she asked again as if she had never heard it before. When we arrived, nothing was prepared. Instead, two other women scrambled to piece things together while Vicki took a personal dance class during our scheduled time. Who does that?! I wasn't sure if I should write this review because I hate writing negative reviews however, in an effort to save other people their money here goes. I planned my daughters sweet 16 at this hall well over a year in advance. The only reason we went with this hall was because we won 50% off at one of the open houses held. But if I hadn't I would've taken my business elsewhere. I do have to give it to Vicky's assistant Ely. She was in great communication with me at all times. Vicky is a very hard person to get ahold of. For something you are you to be spending so much money on that is a key component, great communication. I paid for security which was part of their contract and there was none. I paid for their "show" of the wait staff when they brought out the food. There was none. Parking was an issue. Vicky specifically told us there was a lot on the back of the building we could use only for her hall that was a lie. There is a hall next door that took up all those spots. The hall next door also reserved 10 spots outside right on 3rd Avenue. They all had great parking not any of my guests. I raised this issue with Vicky's daughter the day of she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. The DJ I contracted from Vicky wouldn't play the songs requested. I personally had to go to him several times to ask him to play songs and to find out he had been drinking the beer I had purchased for my guests. We paid for 1 hour of a Bad Bunny performance he stayed maybe 30 minutes. I paid for a robot he was almost an hour late. Speaking to some of the wait staff and Vicky's daughter there is obviously lack of communication within them all. The hall knew in advance how many people I would be having and it seemed as if there was not enough staff to accommodate. My guests were not served dinner at the same time, some waited almost an hour after the first table had been served. The chairs are falling apart, the a/c was barely working. Also, it was mentioned to Vicky my daughter would be making an outfit change and she said there was a room for her and any of her girls needing to change to go to and there was none. I honestly feel if you are going to spend so much money on an event you better get extraordinary service. Oh and don't forget if you go with your own vendor for desserts you must provide your own napkins, plates and forks. I didn't find this out until the day before. I won't even go into the fact they misplaced my coffee cups, forks and napkins that I had to take on my own. Still missing...Take your money elsewhere do not book here! read more

Back in June my daughter celebrated her quince años at illusion Hall in Chula Vista . When people Say time goes by so fast, it's not a cliche it's true . Not only did they have the lowest cost in Chula Vista they had a wonderful payment plan . For 18 months I made monthly payments . So did the padrinos on those extra things to make the party a dream . Before I knew we were two months away and practice had begun . Vicky the owner has her daughter teaching coreography and boy is she wonderful . The two truly make a dynamic duo. I had my daughter's XV in July 2021 & it was horrible. I wish I had seen reviews prior to booking my event. Vicky is very unprofessional, ALWAYS late to our appointments with a bunch of excuses. There were 2 times when she flat out didn't show up. The night before the main event, I asked if the AC was going to be on because it was always hot in the hall. Vicky promised everything was going to be beautiful and fine. The day of the event is here, & all the issues begin with the limo driver. The limo person was rude. As soon as he arrived at the church, the first thing that came out of his mouth was "Where is my money?" I told him that I had paid Vicky for the limo service and that he needed to discuss that with her. Because of this, he was being a jerk. My husband & I arrived at the hall as it was opening for guests. The private bathroom that Vicky had promised was not ready. It had a bunch of tables & chairs in it. So because of this, I had to carry my daughter's 2nd dress, shoes and other items around. If you know you're having an event, why would you not get this done prior? The upstairs area was not ready when doors opened, freakin table cloths hanging from banister/railing of upstairs....how embarrassing! When I approached Vicky, she said the staff was working on decorating upstairs & that they would be done soon. Again, this should have been done prior to doors opening! The hall was VERY hot. I kept asking Vicky if AC was on because it sure didn't seem like it. After approaching Vicky several times about AC, she then became invisible & started ignoring me. It was so embarrassing that all my guests were fanning themselves with whatever they could find, & everyone was sweating big time. Vicky had been bugging me about a seating chart, so I had been working on this several nights past midnight. When doors opened, the person at the door was not following the seating chart and was having people sit wherever. So again, why do you ask me for a seating chart if you're not going to utilize it. I had requested the night before that candy apples be placed on each table. None of the tables had candy apples on them, only a few on the candy table. I noticed the candy table was placed against the windows, so because it was hot and the sun was shining on the window, my apples were starting to melt. I asked Vicky to please close the curtain, & she ignored my request...curtains remained open all evening/night. The slide show on the main screen was not visible due to balloons & net blocking screen. Because of this, only half of the image was viewable & guests had to move around in order to see it on the TV's sinc the main screen sucked! I personally think that if you're placing balloons on the net, you should check that it is not interfering or blocking the projector prior to opening doors. This really made me upset because I worked really hard on pictures for the slide show so that guests couldn't see them. After surprise dance, I noticed a bunch of my daughter's friends hanging outside the venue. I didn't understand why until after the party was over. My daughter told me that Vicky kicked them out of the VIP area, which was specifically for her friends. Since Vicky made all the kids go downstairs & closed off the upstairs entrance, these kids had nowhere to sit because my downstairs tables were all full. I wish my daughter would have told me on the spot, I would have gone off on Vicky. This was also embarrassing but more to my daughter. I had paid for LED Robot, & it was supposed to arrive immediately after surprise dance to start the party. The robot NEVER showed up! At the end of the night, right before I walked out, I approached Vicky about the robot. I honestly expected an apology from Vicky for dropping the ball, but instead, all I got from her was " okay, I will reimburse you for it." To Vicky, it seemed like not a big deal, but to my daughter, it was. This was the one thing that my daughter wanted from the get-go. My daughter told all her friends she was having this robot, only making her look like a liar. I paid $300 for a candy table, & I requested "Mexican Candy." This freakin candy table had 95% american candy & only 5% mexican. All the american candy was brought in by me because I wanted the table to have variety for everyone, but instead, Vicky only used my candy and hardly placed any of the Mexican candy I requested. So, for that reason, I should have gotten a freakin refund, but no, I didn't. My $800 dollar cake was placed in a corner where no one could see it when I specifically asked for the table to be placed in the middle. The fruit table was literally next to the bathroom...that is so wrong! The XV video was horrible and had a lot of duplicate scenes, I should have hired someone on the outside instead of contracting thru Vicki. Why the review now? It took this long to finally get over this as we paid a lot and got nothing nice in return. read more

We had both of our daughters quinceañeras here at illusion hall 5 years apart. Both quinceañeras were the best experience and full of great memories. Both were special and unique in their own way. My family and friends all had nothing but good feedback about the quinceañera and service provided by illusion hall team. First quinceañera was coordinated by Vicky and this last quinceañera was coordinated by Natalie the daughter. Natalie is such a great person and great businesswoman, she was professional and accommodating to our needs and last minute changes and adds. She showed both of our daughters choreography and both were different and came out real good. Their blessing ceremony was an amazing detail which not many halls help organize. I recommend this hall to whomever is looking to host an event. We are actually thinking about starting to plan our 25th wedding anniversary ceremony here aT illusion hall. read more

Just came here last night because it was my cousins XV. Her party was amazing but the hall could definitely use some improvements. It's extremely hot in there! It felt like an oven! When I was dancing I felt like I was in a sauna and everyone was just full of sweat dripping down them! They opened the hall 20 minutes late and the food was an hour late. Honestly I never met the owner but all the previous comments sound about right when discussing this place. I fanned myself for hours and it was just extremely hot! Everyone wouldn't stop fanning themselves. Not to mention the chicken was extremely dry and I'm not usually a picky eater but I did not finish my food. Beware to anyone wanting to book this hall. We had a quince scheduled for our daughter due to COVID we were not able to have it we only put down the deposit to hold the date prior to the pandemic and after I made numerous attempts to get our deposit due to the event not being able to take place I have been told by Vicky that they will not refund our money they did not provide the service we had agreed upon and now are refusing to return our money I would not recommend this venue they have done nothing to try and make this right. read more

I was invited to attend a food tasting for upcoming events. About 100 people show up and sit according to their event. There was 6 people in our group. First we were served a pitcher of water. We were introduced to four different main entres that consists of chicken. The waiter brought one plate of the first entre. The meal was for everybody. The first person takes a bite and passes the plate to the next person. This was the most discusting way of sampling food. This was done for every plate thereafter. On the day of the event the hall was not ready and the aroma of clorox was to vomit. Never been to a hall where you have to get up from your chair for the decorations to be put on. The server brings a chopped jalapeño sauce in a small saucer and nothing else. The waiters put on this dance before serving the main course. The food is bland, dry, and cold; maybe that's why I need the jalapeños to give it some taste. I recommend the street tacos outside the hall. Almost at the end of the event a woman (La Viki) comes around introducing herself as the head of the hall. After the introduction she asks if there's anything she can do. The chair is so hard and I ask for a cushion; she never came back. Make sure when you leave the hall you take your belongings, because their lost and found is up for grabs. read more

I don't even know where to begin. They extremely lack communication. One month from my set date for my wedding they set a date for the "food tasting" They stated that was the one day available. We showed up and they cancelled the food tasting and forgot to tell us. not to mention I had cancelled my shift at work to attend. the entire process was overwhelming. I specifically told the Coordinadors i didn't want anyone on the upper level because you couldn't see anything and I didn't want anyone distracting the DJ that was setup there. Well we didn't have enough seating downstairs like I wanted and ended sending people upstair. So when I told the coordinator what happened she stated I never told them and told me I just need to eat, maybe I'm stressed. she'd disappear at times when we needed her and we were lost on what we needed to do. I was told by the coordinator that there would be someone seating people not to do a seating chart. There was no one assisting my guests. Also the DJ's mic was so much louder than the music. when we entered I couldn't hear our entrance song because he kept talking through the entire entrance. to top it off he started playing the wrong first dance song!!! Then after when I danced with my mother he cut off part of the song. Even when the bridal party walked in he kept talking & couldn't hear the songs and took forever to play the songs. following the party I received a lot of complaints from my guest that the waiters were terrible and rude. AWESOME NIGHT!!!! We had my Sisters XV this past Saturday Aug 1, 2015. And everything was PERFECT the Cake, the camera crew, the tables, the lights, the center pieces. EVERYTHING!! Vicky and her staff did a great job with the decorations for my sisters theme, which was "Under the sea". The food was delicious with plenty for everyone, the music was great, the bals came out perfect and all of our invites were really really enjoying the night as well as the Quinciañera. We had been planning this for over a year and as we got closer to the date we started doing the dance practice for the event. The hall offers many services that you can include with them and I highly recommend doing that. After our event and everything went smoothly we saw the importance of them providing all the services so things ran seamlessly. Some examples of extra services they offer are the photo and video, the DJ, choreography, desert, photo booth, limo, appetizers table. We had them do everything except dessert and again it was nice to have the different tables be brought out throughout the night without having to worry about it. The decorations were beautiful the staff was awesome the day of event Vicky and her daughter Natalie made sure everything was perfect. As for the cost of the extra services they were extremely affordable we paid 600 for photo and 600 for video and we had two people before event so photo shoot then day of we had 3 people shooting video and pictures from 8:30am until midnight. Vicky was super rude I had my quince here A while back I first thought it was really amazing the decorations were pretty nice but the day Of was horrible she was late as well as forgot to save a main table for me and my family she also lost our photo book that everybody signed from the photography booth and her staff was drinking while on duty. It might seem like a great idea to book at first but I promise you at the end of the day you will not be satisfied. If I could give no stars I would but in order to reach out my opinion about this place I need to give one star.. they don't deserve not one. I am very disappointed with this place and for years I've been trying to get in contact with her to get my photo booth book that everybody signed but she blocked my mothers my grandmothers and my phone number. She is super unprofessional! This is my second event working w/the owner Vicky and having her plan my event. She asks for specific details and calls you every week to remind you of things just in case you haven't gotten around to it; it helps to have someone like her working you because your trying to juggle everything on tour own.
