Want to be scammed in a state looking for hope of back pain relief? Look no further! If I could give no stars, that's exactly what I would give. Completely and utterly disappointed in how unprofessional the business is run. Have yet to receive a call back in over two weeks after disputing being charged for the "FREE" consultation. Now stay with me... My case was that I have severe back pain, all recently diagnosed within the past year and a half. Heard about the "FREE" consultation. What a joke. Your supposed to meet with a patient advocate; apparently they had gone home for the day. I met with a physical therapist (who is a terrible sales person aka YOUR THERE TO BE PITCHED) who becoming increasingly more aware of exact issue and causes of my back pain, I asked many questions. One was success rate, which is obviously a case by case basis; however, I was informed that over her 7 years of working there everyone had been successfully treated. So I then asked, "Your saying you have 100% success rate?" She replied by saying "yes nobody has come back." My thought, WOW this is awesome! It was just the hope I was looking for! NOT SO FAST! As I stated, I had been suffering for over a year and a half, read books, was seeking help everywhere I could, spoke to doctors (4 orthopedic surgeons, 2 pain management specialists). My knowledge is not the average Joe coming in off the street. The physical therapist began not answering my questions, she went from suddenly super knowledgeable to unable to answer my questions. She kept saying I needed to meet with the Nurse Practitioner, ok, no problem makes sense right? I was then told she needed to have a private conversation with her, SUSPECT. Then she comes out all happy, and in front of a room full of people says, "This is Pat, good luck he is so brilliant he went to Harvard and is a doctor." That was about the last straw. Heard NP out, walked out. Refused to call back when they reached out for reasons I wasn't continuing to come. Ironically, when I got home I spoke with family about my experience, EVERYONE agreed it sounded like a scam to manipulate people who are desperate for pain relief/help. So at that point said let's have some fun, do your research online...there are a couple positives, most of what I saw are about them gouging for money. If you have serious pain or spinal issues like me, feel free to reach out but consider yourself warned. I should have walked out when I walked in to a woman in tears complaining about a $500 bill IBI told her insurance said they would cover. I work in the fitness field and have for 15 years. I never had any issues with pain until a bike accident in Sept. 2013. I went to physical therapy which only made it worse. I then went to an orthopedic doctor who gave me steroids which helped with the pain but once I was done with the medication the pain came back. I tried acupuncture, yoga and everything in-between. I finally was diagnosed with a herniated disc. I had injections that did not help. Eventually, I went to the Illinois Back Institute. I thought the intake exam was a joke but they assured me they could help and recited how their program was working for so many people. I went in full throttle. The time commitment is staggering, 2 hour sessions 3 days a week. The facility is 40 minutes from my home so we are talking about 10 hours a week committed to treatment. I was religious and did everything they said. They told me most people start to get relief after about 8 sessions. After 15 I was not getting better and they told me to try longer. I finally stopped after 25. Sadly it never worked for me. I am still making monthly payments for a treatment that wasn't effective. The program is expensive and I would never have stayed with it so long if I wasn't so desperate. The good news is the staff is very nice and caring. I know they believe in the treatment and have repeatedly said they have seen it work. Unfortunately, I was not one of the lucky ones. I eventually went to a chiropractor who used a laser on my muscles to reduce the inflamation and within 2 months I was virtually pain free. read more

I have had stenosis for almost 40 years following a severe fall. During these years I have tried everything I knew about except surgery. So I lived with limitations due to the pain, including sleeping only 2-4 hours each night and maximum walking during the day of only 30-45 minutes. I have spondylolisthesis Grade 2 in two places in lower back and sciatica. From the first appointment I ask personal about success rate with cases like I have. Never got answer. After two weeks of treatments (in Arlington Heights, IL) my pain (especially morning) got worst. Before treatments I had sciatica ones a month, and after - every day and practically all day. Before treatments I could stay up to 10 min without pain, after - with hardly 1 min. I think is vibration is not good for spondylolisthesis and pinch nerve. Generally all stuff does not look like know a lot about spine problems, but they very good with stilling money from insurances. All treatment cost too much for this little things, that they doing (hanging and vibrations). PT is also not good quality. Also I found out that some people after 7 week did not get any less pain. Anyone of cause can try this, but if you do not got better after one week (usually 3 treatments in week), do not waist your money and time, just stop doing. You can do good quality hanging home, every day 3-5 min and 2-3 times a day. Just get harness. When I began treatment at IBI, I had severe nerve pain in my lower spine and my SI joint making it difficult to walk, sit, or function. I had completed, intense physical therapy, chiropractic treatment. epiderals in my spine and cortisone shots in my SI joint. Well I am currently going to The Illinois Back Institute fore treatment. I have just completed 10 sessions of therapy over 4 week ago I started. My background is that I have been working in the fitness industry for over 14 years and have always been an athlete. In High School I competed in 3 sports all 4 years, baseball, football, and basketball at a very high level. During my Junior year of Football I was in a running/tackling drill where I had to tackle a guy who was 6'4 225lbs. I was 5'9 165. Needless to say I was undersized facing this guy. Our coaches ran the same drill 3x in a row and on my 3rd attempt to tackle the guy I felt a weird sensation in my back almost like a fluid release. Being young and 17 years old I continued to play feeling nothing that was setting me back. Over the next 20 years I have progressively had slightly increased back pain in my L3 and L4 area. I have completed physical therapy in the past always feeling better but not pain free. Given my back ground I have a healthy body weight and very good core strength. For my New Year resolution I seeked out some in for in a last ditch effort to get my self 100% pain free. That's when I came across the Illinois Back Institute. After 10 session I feel dramatically better. Every week I feel like my pain is less and less and I feel the traction and therapy methods have me walking and sitting completely in back extension which much more ease. I received treatment here last year. The treatment was okay. It helped my neck while I was going there (but the pain returned a month or two later). My lower back, not so much. I was told by Ill. Back Institute that the treatment would be mostly paid for by my insurance. I had already made payments to them after my treatment, but today, nearly a year later I received a bill for over $400. I have been a back pain sufferer since I was 13 years old. A result of playing football my freshman year and injuring my back. I've seen 4 different chiropractors over the past 40 years. I have had short periods of relief but had several incidents of my back 'going out.' The most recent in 2013 was so debilitating it required an ambulance ride to the hospital and 4 different pain relievers before the paramedics were able to move me out of a chair. My back never really recovered from that time. My sciatic hurt so bad that I could not sleep or sit at all by June of 2015. I started researching other treatments even considering surgery. Thankfully I found Illinois Back Institute in Arlington Heights Il. I remembered seeing Dan Hampton endorsed IBI for his back treatment. Being a Bear fan and big Danimal fan, I called IBI and set up my free consultation and I thank God I did! I saw Dr Trevedi who did my evaluation. The doctor ordered an MRI and I began treatment. Given my particular situation I responded very well to treatment and by my own decision put off getting the MRI. During treatment I was reevaluated by a fine, highly professional nurse practitioner Lyubov Shapiro. Lyubov is consummate professional, very caring and very thorough in work and approach to patient care. Dr Aaron Sheley the chiropractor at the Arlington Heights clinic is also a caring and highly skilled professional. He even called my former chiropractor who ironically was to undergo back surgery for a herniated disc. Unfortunately it was too late for my dear friend and he under went surgery. Sadly the surgery did not go well for him resulting in an infection and even worse little pain relief. I wish my doctor-friend had found IBI in Arlington Heights IL as I did before having surgery. By November of 2015 after about 40 treatments of customized traction therapy and core strengthening exercises, I was pain free and sleeping like a baby. I was regularly in REM sleep and sharing my dreams with all the fine staffers at IBI. On Veteran's Day I suffered a setback. I felt a twinge in my back getting in my car(the wrong way). Initially it was nothing but by the next morning I was in pain again. I called Lyubov and she advised me to take some time off from therapy and to come back to IBI when I felt up to it. A week later I did return and Lyubov did another thorough physical evaluation. In consultation with Dr Sheley they advised me that I really needed to get the MRI done so they could see why I suffered the setback. Lyubov prescribed an upright MRI that allows the radiologist to see the spine and discs in action of flexion and extension. As a result of the MRI and the radiologist's report; Dr Sheley and Lyubov Shapiro have fine tuned my therapy regiment and I am almost pain free again. As a part of my therapy I have been taught the proper way to pick up items of the ground, how to get in and out of a car, a chair and bed. I've also learned a variety of other strategies to maintain good posture, eat the right foods to nourish my back, the value of drinking enough water to keep my discs hydrated. I have even lost 15 lbs. I would highly and unequivocally recommend anyone who has any type of back, leg or neck pain to go see the loving and caring staff at Illinois Back Institute in Arlington Heights IL. They will do their best to help you get pain free. Tereia, Conner, Luis, Mari, Magi, Jasmine and Danielle will do their part but you have to do yours and work hard at your therapy and exercise and I pray that you find relief like I have.
