Ilayda Marketplace - Too bad it's expired 8/3022 - Grocery Near Me - Cliffside Park, New Jersey

I ordered online grocery stuff, meat products from their Ilayda Market website, yesterday and paid $138,50 . I received a call from the store and I've been told some of the items they didn't have and instead she offered me double priced items and I said no. Her English was very bad. Then she called me 10 mins later and said I had to pay $18 extra?!! I said why, " I know what I ordered " and even some of my items were missing on the list, they should've offered me to return my money. Here is what happened, I asked her to remove some of the items because I wasn't gonna pay extra and asked her to explain why the prices were different and she couldn't explain. After that, she( the cashier ) said if I wanted to remove some items. I was so confused? Why why why? And she put the $10 sunflower oil on my receipt which I asked I don't want it because it was doubled priced the one I ordered which they didn't have. I said I do not want it but she added anyway like all the other brands and products that had totally different prices. I saw it after they brought the groceries to my house. When I asked why my bill was a lot higher than my online bill, she couldn't even explain. I was still calm and polite because anger never solves a single problem. On the website, Ground beef was $5,99 but on my receipt it was $8,99 , beef steak was $6,99 in the website it came to me $10,99 per pound. As a customer, they had to call me and explain it to me before they add those items to my basket without my permission. After that, they misplaced most of the items with different brands and prices, again I was not asked if I wanted these item. Lastly , they sent me baby watermelon which wasn't the one I ordered $9,99 ea. Watermelon. And the watermelon was already gone bad. So I went to store, the manager came and looked So disturbed like how dare I come to store for a complaint? Coz it was my problem as a customer not to know that the website prices are not their real prices and so on. And he continued that meats come expensive to them, every price is changing everyday and blah blah blah. That is not my problem. I ordered what I saw on the WEBSITE OF THEIRS. He was extremely rude and didn't even apologize until I tell him that they even owe me money. Today, I opened the cheese that they sent me yesterday, it was $8,99 on the website but they charged me $10,99 and it wasn't the cheese I ordered. While I was cutting it, I saw green molds on it when I started to cut the cheese. I was so fed up by their rudeness, I took the cheese and went to the store! Look what happened: He started yelling at me, humiliated me in front of everybody and called me I discriminated his cashier because she couldn't speak English with me, and he rised his hand, he started to scream at me and threatened me and kick me out from the store and said I was a horrible customer! He said he's never seen a customer like me in his entire life. That's right, because I was right, I never raised my voice to him, I was polite and was trying to negotiate with him. Again, Instead of apologizing, he threatened me and said he was going to call the police, and I said go ahead, I am here. And then he said get off my store, you are violating my store and trespassing!!! GET OUTTTT!!!!! Then I thought he was going to hit me. I immediately run away from the store! Those people are extremely dangerous and horrible! i went to the Cliffside Police Departmant and they gave me file form and they said I should sue them!!!! When they first opened I was so happy to have a market right next to my house and for a while it was great but for the past year I've been disappointed as in the previous reviews they have a lot of expired items even down to the baby items which I believe should be extremely important but a few months ago my husband bought some chicken and when I opened it to begin making dinner the stench was horrible and it was slimy I told him to bring it back to swap it out for a different one which wasn't any better so I swore never to buy meat from there again but today months after that situation I needed something for a recipe and I also needed chicken I decided to give it one more try , horrible decision it's so slimy and smelly i don't understand how they can sell spoiled meat and get away with it are they waiting for a death ? This place is great!! They have everything you need.. you can find items you would never expect! I came In looking for aromatic bitters to make an old fashion, it was the only market that had it.. and it was cheaper then amazon! I ended up buying fresh fruits and vegetables that lasted in my fridge for over a week. Everything is clean and immaculate, everyone had masks and gloves! After I paid, I needed rosemary and the owner saw I paid, he told me "no worries.. just go! Enjoy!!" That's hospitality! If you are looking for a market that has -Great domestic and international products -Very clean and sanitary, everything is shining -Service & hospitality! We will never go to this store again! Now that i am sure they increase the prices, i will file a complaint! Everything is 2 or three dollars more and some prices keep changing! For example there was only one kind of eggs, not organic, in a foambox and they were definitely not $4.99 (today's price). I will add the photos. Ilayda Marketplace - a container of egg yogurt - Grocery Near Me - Cliffside Park, New Jersey

I was a real fan of Ilayda Marketplace on Anderson Avenue in Cliffside Park, NJ until today. Yet I notice there are mixed reviews. Yesterday I purchased two items clearly marked $3.99 and found when I returned home that I was charged $5.49 for each one. I immediately called the market and spoke with Aram who said he was the manager. He apologized and told me to come in to be refunded the difference. I had also purchased their pistachio baklava which turned out to be so stale it was inedible. Today I went in with my purchase receipt and a picture of my purchase which clearly showed the price of $3.99. The cashier, who happened to be the same one who charged me $5.49 the day before went to get the manager. The kid who appeared said he was the new owner, that Aram was not the manager, and that the price was $5.49 even though what I bought clearly said $3.99 with an expiration date of April 2022. The kid offered me another baklava, which I refused since I no longer trusted its quality. This kid was wearing a mask that kept falling down, saying that as the owner he had the right to wear the mask any way he wished. He then asked me if I wanted him to call the police. Aram, who finally appeared and acknowledged my phone conversation with him, said he did not have the authority to refund my money. I had recommended this market to several people. I will no longer do that nor will I ever use it again. They cannot be trusted, as I noticed other reviewers also have said. Apparently customer loyalty and trust is not as important to them as is $3.00. read more

The only good thing about this store is that it's convenient since I live nearby. Be aware and pay attention to the prices of your items b/c they slide in an extra dollar to at least one item. When you point it out to the cashier they act like it was a mistake and just change the price. This happens...without fail every. single. time. The price sticker is right on the item or marked on the shelf where the item was so really pay attention. Also there will be times where they won't have that one very basic thing you're trying to find that you'd think every grocery store would have. For example a can of tuna. A month into having iLayda in town, I feel the need to update my review. It's still "okay" but there are really lots of better places around if you have a car. Juno and Cafasso as prime examples and Whole Foods and Trader Joe's if you don't mind driving longer. There are some changes since they opened and some negative things I've experienced that I want to point out: 1) Organic produce is practically nonexistent. They have some, but they should at least stock the dirty dozen 2) Juice/Beverage selection is inconsistent. I was excited they had Evolution juices, then went to buy more and there weren't any more in stock. But I was excited to see they had Kombucha, and then I went to buy more of that and they no longer stocked it. Super disappointing. It's hardly worth going there if what I'm wanting is no longer stocked. 3) the hot bar has essentially been closed down it appears, but that's probably a good thing. I believe they were not selling enough so they were reheating the food day in and day out and it was looking pretty dry and awful. The deli case seems to be what they are using now and it's just served cold and you reheat at home. That was ultimately the better way to go about it. They do have a couple rotisserie chickens i the hot bar area but that's all. 4) A little concerned about cleanliness. I went to get some food from the salad bar and noticed I'd picked up some food with a black hair in it. Feeling grossed out and no longer hungry, I found and employee to let them know and telling them I would not be purchasing the food I'd selected. They actually gave me a kind of hard time about it saying "Well, it might have been another customer". I said, I'm sure that it was but I wanted to let you know that I'm not planning to buy it. And then they basically gave me permission not to buy it (like it was ever a question!), and said "okay, you don't have to buy it". So, now that he honeymoon phase of the grand opening is over, I am not so impressed. The lack of organic produce is a big missing for me and the hair in the salad and response of the employees put a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). It's worth popping in if you live in the area and of course I do appreciate the convenience but hopefully they read reviews and make some improvements so they can stay in business. read more

I am a Texas native, so it was nice to have a store around the corner from my home where I can pick up milk if my baby needed any. I have been here a handful of times, and I being naive, didn't bother to check the expiration dates for the products I was purchasing. What food store wouldn't check their dates right ? That's just negligence. Well, the other day my baby who is 13 months began to throw up profusely one morning and I had no idea what could've made her throw up first thing in the morning. Well today, as I was about to open a container of pita chips, I noticed it's expired by a whole damn month! Come to think of it, the milk I bought for my baby could've been expired, and expired it was since I went through my trash to dig up the carton. I just called to question them about it, and the man I spoke to became so defensive and claimed that they check ALL of their products. He suggested I call tomorrow to speak to the owner. If you're the owner and you're reading this, shame on you!!! Most people are naive and don't check the dates on products because it's inconceivable that a grocery store would even try to sell expired products. When they first opened, I was excited to see a supermarket with a variety of foods and items nearby, replacing what once was a McDonalds that I frequented during my childhood. However, after the few years that they've been open, I've been shopping there about ten times, which isn't frequent, but often enough. Just today, I visited for the first time in a few months, and needless to say, after careful observation, I was thoroughly disappointed. The food in the hot food bar was all over cooked and dried out; the salad bar (as well as the hot food bar), were exposed and had no food coverage or lids, so it was quite unsanitary. I even saw a large fly roaming around the salad and hot food bars, as well as a mosquito. The exit doors were left open, which was the cause for the insects. I came in to buy olive oil, and the brands that I typically use were both expired, one in December 2015 and the other this July. I would expect it to be common sense for a business to remove products that had expired, especially those that had expired for two years. I bought those mini raspberry (I think that's the flavor) fruit jelly bars because they didn't have those in jelly rings, and when I went home to try one, it tasted just like Raid bug spray. Thanks for ruining my childhood in more ways than one, iLayda Marketplace. I'm extremely disappointed, and will not be returning anytime soon, unless the world ends and this is the only place with food to raid from. read more

I honestly can't see this place surviving or even making their first anniversary mark. First, if you were to go and order a sandwich, set aside about 30 minutes per sandwich because the person that makes it doesn't know what's in each of the sandwiches, nor does the person know how to make it. Oh yeah, and all of the ingredients that is obviously written on the board, isn't even in their refrigeration. Speaking about refrigeration, all of the meats are not behind a closed door, but out in the open, so talk about heaven for flies and other pests. Then the actual making of the sandwich. you would think that the prices on the board are the set prices, but nope... they weigh it and charge against the price, so if you get a reuben for 7.99, they make it cold (not hot, even if it is a part of the hot menu), and they weigh it at the price of the sandwich so they put the sandwich on the scale, type in 7.99 per pound, and the sandwich comes out more than the price (or less if they under size the sandwich). So for me, I got 2 sandwiches, cold, made incorrectly, without the ingredients mentioned on the menu, with inconsistent pricing, and ended up waiting 1 hour for the guy to make it. Like I said, this place is brand new, and you would think that they would be on top of everything, but nope. And the fly quality control is pretty disgusting. So I can't wait for any food inspection to come by and flag this place as unsafe. So if I were you reading this review, I honestly would be extra anal retentive looking at how they prepare, stack, store, sell their goods that are not open container. I just see a food poison report in the near future, if not already occurred.... Also, there is no customer service that one can positively experience. one behind the cash register, one behind the deli counter, and that's it. It was packed, then emptied out where I noticed no one paying but just walking out. Looks like they don't really want customers but just their money. Fresh vegetables and fruits plus a large variety - better than Juno and not jammed in like Cafasso's. Good quality without the Whole Foods prices. The best thing is that it is next door to me. Haven't tried the roasted chicken or deli counter yet, but people I know tell me both are great. read more

Plain and simple, a place to pick up a couple vegetables or maybe a canned product when you don't want to run to a supermarket. No one would get a sandwich here or get food from the salad bar/hot food bar. This market is very convenient to where I live - a few minutes walk. For convenience, it is a great market. It is a little pricy, but the produce always look fresh and they have a lot of selection as far as grocery items. LOVE the deli! Their wraps are amazing. One week they were offering complimentary soda/chips, but the next week they took this offer away. Would love to see this back, because it made a $9 wrap more easy to swallow. I have been in Cliffside for years. Frequented Juno and Fairway Matket but decided to shop at iLayda several times. Sadly, the store is wayyyyyyy overpriced for the quality you can get at Fairway. At one point , it was after 5:00 P.M. And I was trying to ask if the hot/prepared foods price would be lowered. The food was a bit dry and appeared as if no one was buying it. The manager was opposed to it. At another time, I bought a sandwich bagel from the deli for 8$. I expected the sandwich to be heartier and meatier than the light meats and cheese I got. Sadly, I will not be frequenting this store where the food is wasted on price and money quality of service is not valued. read more

This is more like a 2.5/3 star review. At first, I was very excited about having a grocery with poultry, fish, and meat nearby. For convenience alone, the place is great. The hours are good and the store is close to me. But as one other reviewer has said, the honeymoon is "now over". They keep changing the location of their stock. Their employees never seem to know where things are anymore. For example, I was pointed in the wrong direction as to where the tortilla chips were and when I pointed out that I had already searched in the aisle, I was told to "check again". Then when I couldn't find anything, I was going to just pay for my other items, and then found the chips myself in a completely different location. When I pointed out the inefficiency of having one type of chips in a completely different section of the store from the other types of chips, it was clear that the cashier did not give a $@#! at all. A mistake with locating items is fine but not caring at all when the customer finds these options themselves is a problem. It's called customer service. Act like you care... even a little bit and even if you don't mean it. As someone who has worked in customer service, I know this is possible for people at their jobs. I also stopped getting food items from the hot food area - it doesn't look sanitary anymore. I've seen flies around the food. It just looks questionable. Everything looks dried out under the lamps. I do wish they would bring the soups back. The first week or so when they opened, they did carry hot soup that you could spoon up and take home. Those were good, although given the condition of the hot food items as I see them now... I'm not sure if I'd like the soup items if they were offered at this time. At this point, the only thing they have on Juno is that they have protein options (meat, poultry, fish) and are close to my home. If you're not that close and don't need protein options, I'd say Juno is better. read more

On more than one occasion I have experienced end of life produce and dairy products that are expired. Their deli counter is in constant flux and inconsistencies. There new thing is full service fresh meats. Everything looked good and the prices were very on point. MESSAGE TO THE OWNER!!! We had a bad experience with the guy who works the deli counter. The evening after Halloween 2019, my teenage daughter took 2 candies instead of 1 (from the free candy dish) and the guy went ballistic. When she went to give it back to him, he tried to hit her. He cursed both of out using foul language.Needless to say, we did not buy the groceries and ran out.The women at the counter looked petrified --lovely girls. When I went to speak to the owner the next day, the lady working the morning shift ignored me and would not give me his number. I'm sure she's dealt with this before and couldn't be bothered. Shame on the owner for letting this employee take over his store, especially at night.(After all, the deli guy is the only one who has access to a knife. lol) We did not press charges as we were not injured. Also, we live in the neighborhood. I did feel guilty about that as I'm sure someone else will probably run into trouble with this violent man. read more

This market is mediocre but convenient. The people who work there do not seem to be happpy, it's very obvious, and so whether the owner(s) believe this or not, it really reflects on the shopping experience. The feeling of employees having "no interest" is quit palatable. The prepared food is OK, but not wonderful, the convenience of having a market like this within walking distance is great, to get milk and other stuff, but overall I think that this yet another store opened up by foreigners who could care less about those who work for them and show their total disregard for the English Language by sending out a mailer that is written with such blatant grammatical error it is quite disgusting - there is no such thing as saying "WE NOW OPEN" - that's an absurdity. We use verbs in the English language, and it's sad to spend my hard earned money in a store owned by people who cannot speak the English language, and the cashiers need to learn manners and what is considered "polite service." Maybe some training in English and courteous behavior is needed. read more
