A godsend to the suburbs Il Sogno provides delicious and authentic Italian food at a reasonable price.
Head Chef Anthony Giarratana, who has trained under Guy Grossi, has created cuisine that possesses rich flavours whether it is entre, main or dessert.
Specialties include the spaghetti alla marinara with fresh seafood, but I highly recommend the gnocchi with taleggio, walnut and pear - its very rich and filling but simply divine on a cold night.
The specials are also worthy of attention with seafood and other fresh and local produce being adapted and invigorated with traditional Italian flavors.
Desserts are particularly good and are a nice way to finish off the heaviness of the mains. The lavender infused panna cotta is one of my favourite desserts, and it is worth going to Il Sogno just to try it with a dessert wine or pot of tea.
The restaurant is small but the staff have made great use of the space (you can hire it out for functions), and the service is friendly and competent.
Because it is already very popular it may be worth booking ahead. read more
