The wine list had a bunch of Umbrian gems. The waiter spoke a decent amount of English and was able to guide us through the wine list and the menu. He was also very patient with us and didn't rush us to finish our meal despite being the last diners there. We started with the prosciutto de norcia. It was heavenly, especially with the excellent local wine. We then shared the penne alla norcina, which was phenomenal. The penne was perfectly chewy, and the sauce was perfectly seasoned and creamy. The pork chop I had was one of the best pork chops I have had in my whole life. My husband had the excellent local sausage. We had such a good experience our first night in Perugia, we returned to Cesarino the next day as well. Both nights were wonderful.

But when it comes to the food, we were deeply underwhelmed. We ordered the "Incredible Barbecue for Two," a huge platter of grilled pork chops, chicken breast, sausages, and beef filet. Everything, and I mean every cut and piece was overcooked, grilled to death, dry, and unseasoned. If I were the chef at Il Bacio, I'd slap my Grill Man for destroying fine meat like that! "Incredible" as in not credible? Yes! Not enjoyable in the least! My wife did enjoy her sweet and sour salad. The fried squash blossoms were all breading no flavor. And the roast potatoes were serviceable. But it's hard to screw up a potato. Prices overall are reasonable for the area. But for the meal we just had...I fell like we overpayed for mediocrity.
