What an absolutely beautiful view of the beach in the distance - off to a great start. I was VERY pleasantly surprised to find items marked "vegan" on the menu! Not knowing what to expect I figured I would end up ordering pasta with tomatoes, but instead I happily selected the vegan pizza - topped with tomatoes, zucchini, artichokes, spinach, rocket, and sun dried tomatoes. DELICIOUS! Simple but flavorful and it really hit the spot. The menu here was only offered in Italian and German but it's simple enough to figure out if you are an English speaker. The host serving me was very kind and smiled profusely. I was so happy I decided to visit - it was a great dinner in a seriously lovely setting.

What was particularly nice is my daughter is a vegetarian and she had the same options. I also noticed at other tables that some people ordered a la carte and others the surprise menu, again nice that the whole table can order what they want. I enjoy amuse bouchée and that was one of the highlights of the meal. We started with five different amuse bouchée, all of them excellent and interesting. Even with only the large menu, it seemed as if we got many more courses than I was expecting. Also enjoyed a reconstructed caprese salad, a tomato stuffed with cheese. Well built and beautifully decorated with woven baskets and clay statues. The four of us sat at solid wood table in a dinning room of several tables. As soon as we were comfortable we were offered an included bottle of Sardinian wine, red or white. Then the food started to flow. Since it is a price fix undisclosed menu each course was a surprise. It started with fresh vegetable crudités and some ham, then the cheese course of hard and soft cheeses. A honey ricotta was just so delicious. Then the charcuterie course of prosciutto, serano and wild boar was served. Several other courses followed but I won't describe them so as not to spoil your experience. Everything was perfectly prepared and served with a relaxed efficiency. The wine was excellent and when we finished it were ordered a different, even better, Sardinian wine. Everyone enjoyed this unique experience and best of all was the price! Only 238€, about $280, for 4 people which in a US city would be anywhere from $500 and up. If you are in Alghero definitely treat yourself to Sa Madra. We will be back!
