From 5 to 1 -- valet damage + denial…read more This should have been a 5-star review: great room, service, food, and location. Unfortunately, a valet incident -- and management's response -- makes it 1 star. I handed over the car with the handbrake engaged; a car cannot be moved without releasing it. The car was later parked on the public street and returned with the handbrake tab broken (it would sit in odd positions and no longer lock properly). Management told me their staff "did not touch" the handbrake -- a claim that isn't credible, especially since they only asked the valet team over a month later. The car could not have been moved in the first place without releasing the brake, and parking it on the street required operating it again. Italian regulations (Art. 353(2)) also require parked vehicles to have the parking brake engaged (and, as a rule, the lowest gear). If the brake wasn't used when they parked it on the street, that violates Art. 353(2). When a hotel handles guests' cars, safety and accountability are non-negotiable. A real shame, because everything else was excellent. Until the hotel accepts responsibility and fixes its valet procedures, I can't recommend it.

The staff is very accommodating and helpful. The restaurant at the top offers an adequate breakfast, and other meals on the higher floor, a beautiful panoramic view of the city. Service in the evenings, however, can be "hit and miss". Rooms are clean, but a bit dated. They are all very different shapes and sizes (even for the same price), so please check out your room to assure you have something that you were expecting.

They had positive attitudes and were very patient with us when we had questions about the menu. They even gave us a complimentary glass of sangria because of confusion about where they had seated us. The interior was stunning as well. It was very elegant and clean. Now let's talk about the delicious food. I had the Arrosto di vitella abrasata con creme di pátate which in English is Braised veal roast with mashed potatoes. The veal was absolutely delicious. The veal was so tender it melted in your mouth. The mashed potatoes underneath the veal are a perfect combination. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and well seasoned. The price is 22 euros. I also tried the Tonnarelli Amatriciana, which is Tonnarelli, tomato, Bacon, Pecorino Romano, and Black Pepper. The pasta was handmade in house. It was well seasoned. That will cost you 16 euros. The wine was delicious, we had a bottle of Chianti 'La Boncia', a good wine from Tuscany.

Once seated, we didn't have much of a view due to the patio cover unfortunately. Anyways, we ordered a drink just to rest up a bit. I had a glass of House White Wine (€8) while the husband had a Jack & Coke (€13). Note if you're an American coming to Italy, the Coke is separate, so it gets quite pricey. They did offer some chips with her drinks, which was nice though. Otherwise, nothing all too special here besides the view of you do get a table.

However, it is quietly nestled in a beautiful little neighborhood. It is very quiet and quaint. Upon arrival we were greeted with the welcoming staff and escorted into the ruins beyond the lobby where we were brought a lovely tiramisu welcome treat to enjoy while taking in the ruins. The room is impressively large with a huge bathroom. We had a plush king sized bed with cozy down bedding. The thick beautiful curtains ensured that the room was perfectly dark for great sleep even if we wanted a mid day nap. There was a lovely little balcony with a view of the courtyard. With the curtains open the natural light is perfect. The bed was comfortable and we Sisto very nicely here. The bathroom is very big with a walk in shower and bidet with all toiletries needed to have a comfortable stay. I will say I was a bit bummed that the tile warmer was not functional but the hotel was very kind offering anything to make sure that we were happy. This was not a problem and we stayed in this room as warming towels us a perk but not a requirement. I would also note that the building is quite old and the bathroom had a metallic smell perhaps from the pipes of older plumbing but it was fine as long as we kept the bathroom door closed. I think the hotel was really concerned that we were upset but we absolutely were not just keep in mind this building is antique and if you are coming from the US where everything is new and not used to a potential aroma of antiquity be prepared to experience a true European city and do not complain. All details are thought of here including mini bar, clothes steamer, hair dryer, toiletries and a welcome gift. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. They are always ensuring that we were comfortable and happy. We absolutely loved our stay here. The hotel is a special place and experience. The nostalgia of standing and staying where the Romans once stood 2000 years ago was definitely a treat! The hotel has a rooftop terrace where we enjoyed breakfast in the mornings and wine in the evening. The lounge just inside of the terrace is cozy and comfortable to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail in the evening and there's a cozy fireplace to warm up, which we took full advantage of after a long wet rainy day in the colosseum and Roman forum. We had a great stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special Roman experience. We will definitely be back!

This time around I wanted to stay in a hotel! And I've stayed at the hotel Albergo next door last year. Saw the roof top of this spot from my room! It was magic! So here I am!! Location: in old town! And behind pantheon! It's my favorite location next to via delcorso! I love being able to wake up and see the Pantheton!! Or walk up to it. And since it's in the back, it's never as insanely busy! The best part: the bed! It is a "fancy" hotel. They have men in suits directing traffic for Uber's/ taxis. My Uber eats! Fancy, a little uptight and have that rude undertone but once you open your mouth (conversate in Italian) you're oh so welcome! I've spent a week in Rome this time without plans! Stayed here for a few nights and moved on to the hotel Santa chiara next door since they were sold out! Love being able to compared the rooms. Probably stick to Santa chiara next time though. 1/3 cheaper minus all the huge /luxurious amenities!! No massive meeting room, no restaurant or roof top garden there! Less weddings and crowd!! It was a little too crowded here for my liking. Best sleep though!!
