Thoroughly charming little place run by a couple. She cooks, he waits tables, offering drinks and a small selections of Bolognese dishes outlined on a blackboard, updated not just daily, but nightly, it turned out, as we ordered the last Riggatoni Bolognese, and blackboards were promptly updated to reflect how they'd run out of fresh riggatoni, choosing on the spot to substitute for fresh gnocchi.
We shared a platter of delicacies from Bologna, meats and cheeses with a selection of sauces, accompanied by freshly baked bread, and apart from the riggatoni, we tried the Aubergine Parmesana, a spicy layering of eggplant and cheeses topped with stracciatella (you know, the irresistible center of burrata cheese).
Very reasonably priced, frequented by lots of Italian ex-pats in casual bric-a-brac surroundings, this restaurant's homecooked cuisine is excellent value for money. But really, the owners are half the reason to go. read more
