There might not be much to their rooms, yet Hotel Bassetto delivers where it counts…read more
Starting with the room, mine was clean, but mighty small. The bathroom has a stall shower than even I had trouble believing as full size. The bed seemed larger than a twin, but smaller than a full if that was possible. The TV was probably not much larger than a 17" monitor and it took up most of the desk space in the otherwise bandbox of a room.
So why the four-star rating? The family style management was extremely friendly and willing to go above and beyond for us. I mean, one of the staff drove us to a nearby restaurant in his personal car when we asked about going somewhere else to eat (since we'd be back at Hotel Bassetto for dinner).
The price was cheap. My room was well under $100. Breakfast was included and pretty damn good. Honestly, I don't know how they got their scrambled eggs to look and taste like they did!
The restaurant knew more than breakfast. Our dinner was top notch. They were even flexible given my group's dietary restrictions. Once the bill arrived, we weren't floored by the prices either.
To sum it all up, if you plan to lock yourself in your room and do nothing else, this hotel might not be for you. However, if like me, you're interested in more than just what type of room a hotel can offer you, I'd recommend Hotel Bassetto.
