Came here with some Italian friends per their recommendation and it was a great gem! First off,…read morethere were no tourists here that I could tell. There is no menu. It rotates every month and they make the food fresh for the whole restaurant and it is served family style to your private table. In other words, each table in the restaurant is eating the same thing. You can watch them make the pasta as the first course is being served. It really feels like you are in someone's home. The night we came, the opener was a meat plate. Plenty of salty Italian meats to make it a meal in and of itself. You can ask for as much as you want but save yourself for all the courses. Next came skewers of lamb sausage. They were so different and had a tang to them that was amazing. The third course was backed artichokes, nothing too special. Next was a beef broth that was excellent with bread. There was a soupy consistency to this. The pasta was next. Gnocchi was out first pasta. I could see them making it so I knew what was coming and the timing was amazing. This was followed by ravioli which was so fresh again, you could taste it. Our final course was a wild boar that was so soft and juicy. It really got me hooked on this meat. The desserts were average but who cares, we were so stuffed by then anyways on the good stuff. Plan to spend over 2 hours here as this is a meal to experience for sure!!

Great food, a loooot of food. Beautiful setting! Amazing quality and service. Great for groupsread more

The staff cut us up a platter of their cheese in the cellar. Tiramisu for desert topped the 5 star experience. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: You need reservations that can only be made by calling them, no online reservations capabilities. You should call 5 days in advance. Worth it. Our bill came out to less than $250 + Tip for 2 bottles of wine, 6 main entrees, 2 appetizers, 3 Tiramisu, and cheese platter - NOT BAD if you ask me. Because we gave them a nice tip - they gave us a bottle of wine as a thank you gift.

We ended up here by mistake (confused it with another spot), and unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. The restaurant fills up with reservations for two seatings, and from the moment we sat down the pace felt rushed. We ordered drinks and a starter while deciding on the rest, but multiple staff members kept coming by trying to take our full order. It felt like they were pushing to move things along quickly. There were a couple positives. The chicken livers to start were quite tasty and something we didn't see often on other menus. The primi were underwhelming. The pasta didn't taste fresh like many other trattorias in Siena, and the dishes overall were just average. The lasagna in particular was mushy, and the sauces didn't stand out. The secondi were slightly better -- pork ribs, Barolo-braised beef, and a "small chicken" -- but still nothing that justified the higher prices. They do have an underground wine cellar built into a cave, which is interesting to see, but there are other places in Siena with much larger and more impressive cellar spaces. Also worth noting, they add a "10% tax" charge rather than the typical €2 coperto per person. Overall, a rushed and fairly mediocre meal at a higher price point. With so many better places to eat in Siena, this is one I'd skip.

One year later - still our favourite place in town!…read more After staying in lovely San Vincenzo last year we came back in 2016. Last time we've visited this wonderful Restaurant three times....it was just so good. So we were wondering if it's still great. And YES....it's still our absolute favourite! The food is fantastic. But it's not only that....it's the whole package. Absolutely great staff, an atmosphere that is welcoming....you'll feel at home immediatly. Great food....convenient location. And due to really low prices (and big portions) an almost unbeatable value! Lavinia and Elena were perfect hosts and made us feel welcome and almost part of the family. It's a cosy restaurant with lots of locals, some italian tourists and the occasional international tourists. This might be different in high season....dunno. The food is real down-to-earth homecooked Italian Food. Pasta, Pizza, Seafood....and more. And it's all cooked to perfection. We loved it so much, this time we came here five times....in one week! The food: Pizza Xke Qua: House Specialty with Prosciutto Crudo, Fresh Cheese, spicy Salami and Porcini. Great flavours, great dough, lots of topping.... fantastic Pizza! Seafood Pasta: A real classic....always tasty with lots of mussels and Shrimp! Tagliatelle with Boar: Good pasta with minced Boar. Great Flavours! Tagliatelle with Lobster: Pasta with real Lobster pices....not just the meat. A feast for the eye and palate. Boar Stew: Good meat in a hearty stew sauce! Spaghetti with Clams: On par the the great Seafood Pasta. Crostini: A nice variety of spreaded bread with artichocke, olive, minced meat, tomato toppings and more. Also a variety with seafood topping is available. A great starter! Fried Seafood: Calamari and Shrimp. Fresh, hot and crispy. And for dessert a real good homemade Cheesecake. Lighter than the american version, but really really tasty. Available with different toppings. Our choice. Frutta di Bosco. A great great restaurant. Lovely staff. Nice, friendly and lively customers and atmosphere. Low prices....high quality food. A great wine selection. Starting from about 10 Euro a bottle! 1/2 liter housewine from 4 Euro! And the place is also dog-friendly! Which is important to us (and our Bulldog). If you only have one night and one place to eat. THIS is the one (open dinner only....with few exceptions). You can also Take-Out Pizza. Thanks again to Lavinia and Elena for making our stay in San Vincenzo once again perfect .... thanks to this lovely place!
