As you walk in, you are in the ground floor wine bar-restaurant. The walls are covered with wine bottles and there are tables to sit at as well as a beautiful bar. But if you are more hungry than thirsty, then take a walk up the gorgeous blue granite stairs to the upstairs restaurant. Shortly after we sat down, the owner and chef, Nicola Russo, joined us at our table. He asked if we had any dietary restrictions and what our wine preferences were. There were no menus! He selects the freshest seasonal ingredients available and then puts together surprises! We were not disappointed! Everything was to die for scrumptious! The presentation of each plate was a work of art - for your eyes and for your stomach! Nicola is a professional sommelier and chef, so I can guarantee you won't be disappointed here! The setting, from the decorations to the table, is warm, inviting, and elegant. The panoramic views of the rolling hills of Irpinia from the restaurant will take your breath away. Everyone that works there, from the chef to the waiters, is very attentive and hospitable. The chef, Tania, is just outstanding and makes everything from scratch. Nowhere else have I had such delicious, authentic pasta. If you come to Calitri, this must be at the top of your list for places to eat. You will not be disappointed. As for the dishes, I highly recommend the cannazze and vrasicola.
