For starters, the customer service here isn't the best. Since I needed to get items delivered home, I had gave the itemized list to the customer service desk. I was asked (politely) to wait for a while, which I did. Eventually, they tell me that some of the smaller items cannot be delivered (understandable). So, at this point, I decide to just rent the mobility van through Ikea. The two people specifically told me that on showing proof that I got to Ikea using public transporation, I would get 50% off the price of the rental. Anyway, it was nearing 5pm and the lady tells me that they close at 6:30pm and I need to bring the car back before that. This was a bit frustrating because I was ready to check out about 2 hours ago and they delay was because of Ikea. At this point, I start getting second thoughts about renting the vehicle as I had to drive about 35 minutes, unload the van and bring it back. So, I asked the lady what happens if I'm delayed and she says "we'll have to stay here until you arrive, so please get back on time". Sure enough, I get there late (due to traffic) at around 7pm and this place is completely dead. Since this place seems like it's in a podunk part of the country, I thought I'm better off driving the van back home since I'm unlikely to find a cab or a bus. Unfortunately, the van wouldn't start (Mobility) probably because the rental was only valid till 6:30? (not sure). So, after spending around 200CHF in cabs to/from Ikea (from Luzern), a different lady at the counter the next day told me that they have to charge me for 1 hour + 100CHF for "keeping" the car overnight . I thought this was ridiculous, because the car was parked in their spot and they couldn't have rent the vehicle it to anyone else (I got there before 9am the next morning) anyway. Moreover, the 50% public transportation discount supposedly didn't exist! What a rip off this was. Would have been better off shopping at a local store in Zug or the Ikea near Zurich. I can only wait and see how long they take to deliver the rest of my stuff...... read more
