We purchased a bathroom mirror cabinet from XXL Lutz's in-house brand "Dieter Knoll Collection"…read moreabout three years ago and installed it in a newly built bathroom with a central ventilation system.
After only about one year, so-called mirror corrosion (black discoloration) started to appear along the edges of the mirror--and it progressively got worse over time. The bathroom is equipped with a properly functioning central ventilation system, and we never clean the mirror with water, only carefully with a microfiber cloth.
After submitting a complaint, we were still told that the issue must have been caused by excessive humidity.
Despite multiple email exchanges, all warranty claims were rejected--even though the "Dieter Knoll" brand is advertised with a supposed 5-year warranty. Instead, responsibility is repeatedly shifted to the manufacturer, even though this is an XXL Lutz private label.
We have used several mirror cabinets in significantly more humid bathrooms-- even inexpensive models last half a century without such defects.
