Ikea is rad. I can get what I need for cheap, and my 1 year old can play with toys.
Children:
Ikea is designed to keep little kids happy. There is a supervised play room for 3 year + if you need to do some uninterrupted shopping.
Toys are in bins throughout the store. If my child is getting antsy in the cart, I can grab one for her to play with, and toss in another toy bin as we near the exit.
There are larger toys for kids to try out, which is a lot of fun. Tunnels and rocking horses are cool.
This location has 2 slides, one that kids can use instead of the stairs into the markthalle.
If you go through the cafeteria line with a baby, they give you free baby food, and point you to the free bibs.
There is a neat enclosed play area for little kids in the cafeteria with places to sit and eat around the perimeter for parents. This is so genius, I can't get over it and my ability to eat an entire meal.
Finally, check out the small play zone in the customer service area if you have to wait around.
Grownups:
The designs are fun, stylish, and CHEAP. And you can find everything. Stuff you didn't know you needed. So go there. Right now. Buy everything. Then get a soft serve.
Americans:
They take US credit cards, but it's an ordeal. They have to get a manager's approval. The first time I tried to pay like that, the flustered cashier struggled to put together enough English words to explain it to us that we could use our card, but to hold on and wait a minute while she helped other customers. Just bring euro. It's easier. read more
