Its the biggest in the country, and by definition, the most daunting as well. If you intend to even visit this place, prepare for at least 2 hours of wandering around, as the layout forces you to see just about everything on offer at least once. This is a shopping experience requiring a good few hours (and a big car) to do properly. You start by going upstairs to the showroom where you can see most of the Ikea products in action in mock up rooms. This gives a real feel for how the products will look in your home. We bought a few items at Ikea Croydon yesterday and, when we got to the tills saw that the 'Self service' was empty except for a bored looking assistant. I couldn't get the scanner to work, so I asked her to help me. "This is self service. Do it yourself, or go to the check out" I didn't bother doing either. read more

Love Ikea but last time i moved house i was not impressed at all i did better going to Argos!

what is there not to love about ikea? on a rainy day i could spend hrs. i love the top floor for inspiration and the market place where u have every gadget or thingymibob possible, not sure what it is but i just have to have it. I can never leave empty handed. The restaurant serves up a cheap meal or the hot dog section on the ground floor is a cheap date. Finally you have the swedish shop that serves all things swedish food from gravy to meatballs, salmon to coffee. Ikea have lots of furniture and plants and kitchen equipment not all of their stuff is good but they have a good selection of items and there is plenty of parking . What i like is the restaurant which is really good value. They also have a small super market which is handy some times read more

Crazy at weekends but better during the week. The best bit is cheap ice-cream at the end of miles of walking.

This store is fabulous for reasonably priced furniture. This is one of the biggest Ikeas I have ever been to and anything you could possibly want for your home you can find here. The little food store and canteen are also great for some traditional sweedish cusine and beverages to take away or enjoy in store. The only down side is you have to have stamina and time to wonder around the delights of the whole store. read more

SPENT THE whole day here, the place is massive with great bargains to be had, the canteen was great value for money too, buy a hot drink and get free top ups! lovely cakes and great things to buy from shop floor, loved it will be going to the southampton one as soon as its opened. read more

I will try to recap my terrible experience yesterday. It was my first time at Ikea Croydon as I have recently moved. I knew what I was getting, chest of drawers, cupboard door and hinges. No problem locating the products but became stuck at isle 12 trying to load the box with drawers onto the trolley. I needed help. I'm female, 30, couldn't even move the box. After 5 min walking trough the isles I found one member of Ikea staff who did help me. Went to the check out, extremely unpleasant cashier was 'serving' me. No hello or any talking for that matter, just indicated with her head that I need to come closer, then closer, then move the doors... I paid and asked her if there is anybody who could help me load the drawers into my car. She said that they are always people outside in yellow and I'm to ask them, So I went outside, waited for a bit (5-10min)by the exit but there wasn't anybody anywhere looking like a member of staff so I went to my car, located less then 10m from the exit of the shop. Waited another 20min or so and still nothing. So I thought, will load what I can into the car and by then there must be somebody around. It was a fight, but I managed to get the door into the car, all ready for the drawers to go in and still nobody around. But as the doors were in already, I couldn't quite leave the car- without unloading the doors or moving them to where the drawers were supposed to go and then moving them again .... So I called the customer services... 0854 number, from my mobile... After 10min on hold, I was informed that I'm trough to customer services at Peterborough!!! At which point I got a little upset and teary. They took my number and after 10 min they called back saying that they got hold of security staff at Croydon but as they are not insured to lift heavy objects, they can't help me. It was freezing outside, wind was blowing, not the best news to tell me at that moment. The gentleman on the phone told me that somebody from the returns should be coming my way as we speak... Well , nobody was. So I rearranged the doors to fit into my car (10min at least), locked the car, grabbed the trolley with the drawers and went back inside to shop. No staff around, went outside to wait by the exit....then an eureka moment! Ikea staff coming towards me! He was my help and we managed to get the drawers into the car, finally, after more then an hour, I could go home... Never EVER again!!! read more

I agree with other reviews here I've just returned from my inevitable bi-annual trip to IKEA Croydon, and the main thing I went for wasn't in stock again, despite their website confidently telling me there were (and still are) 45 of them in store! In fact most of the things I went for weren't in. Their stock control is abysmal. That's a 2 hour round trip through Croydon traffic for nothing. It's really not worth the time and cost of going there. There are also tons of people just there for a nice a walk out and cheap meatball. I also had an expensive tape measure nicked. Also keep hold of your trolley or it'll get nicked too. Unbearable. In the long run it's so much easier and cheaper to buy things on line from other suppliers and get them delivered. When IKEA joins the 21st century and starts trading properly online I might return as a customer, until then my new years resolution is never again! read more

ikea are just amazing!

The home delivery service is rubbish. Item was supposed to be delivered before 7 pm. However, item never arrived. I got a call at 6 pm stating that item would arrive within the hour. Got another call at 6:15 pm stating that item would arrive in 45 minutes. At 6:30 pm got a call from driver stating that item could not be delivered because it was never loaded onto delivery truck (Really?). Driver instructed me to call the warehouse directly at 07557562240 to re-schedule delivery. I did so and spoke with a lady at 6:45 pm, she said she would have to go look for the item in the warehouse and call me back, but she never did (Did they just misplaced my fully paid mattress?). Calling customer service is a waste of time, 25 minutes to finally talk to a human. I'm never relying on their delivery service again, better off just to hire your own man with a van. read more

bought a wardrobe and all the internal parts to use with it planned to have it delivered today between 10-4pm now 5pm still messing me around telling me it's gonna be at 7ish why did i bother taking the day of work??? shambles , if your having anything delivered be prepared to stay in all day (and night), to top it all of when u call to speak to them your advised there's a 30 min delay, probably caused by other people all wondering why they bothered buying something from somewhere with lying rubbish deliverymen/customer care. read more
