From the first contact to date, even after weeks after acquiring our new boat, Darren has been so helpful in many ways. He educated us about our new vessel, including what we should be watchful for. He lined up for a mechanical inspector and a surveyor. He helped us to get a dodger and a bimini put on and he was there at 7am in the morning on the day I sailed her away to our slip in Blaine. Darren is extremely knowledgeable about the boats, the surrounding cruising areas, and boat mechanics, but the most importantly, he is very willing to provide the best experience he can acquiring a boat, this was the real value for us. A very poor experience when it counted most: closing, signing, and delivery…read more I give the broker a little slack because he was out of town during the closing, however the person who he left to handle the closing was incompetent (new), unresponsive, and seemed annoyed that I would expect updates and follow through on her part. Closing was also delayed due to multiple errors on the purchase/sale agreement and customs paperwork like incorrect HIN#, missing documentation/licensing for the tender, and failure to disclose the need for/and arrange for a customs broker to facilitate to the transfer of the yacht into US waters! Now the yacht has been delivered I have an inflatable tender that does not hold air and an outboard that does not start; a 2001 42' yacht with a stbd engine that won't start without bridging power from the port engine; fresh water pumps that won't pump fresh water; $10,000 in earnest money that was supposed to be refunded directly from the broker a week ago, but has yet to be received. The surveyor also bears part of the blame here, but no call from the broker to follow up post-closing is just unacceptable.
