Ignacio Haya Linear Park is located in South Seminole Heights. It (almost) connects Rivercrest Park to Hillsborough Ave and runs (surprise!) in a line along the river. It's a popular place for people to sit beneath the trees and enjoy the shade and cool breezes along the river. There is a walking trail which is also suitable for kids to ride a bike on. If you're a grown-up you'll ride on the road, which is parallel to the sidewalk.
There's a picnic shelter, playground, and grill located at Rivercrest Park but no restrooms. Ignacio Haya Park has no amenities other than a little dirt slope down to the river with a small sign that says "canoe launch". However, it is a nice, quiet, natural oasis in the city. There is space to park along the road.
If you're biking north from downtown on Boulevard, follow Osborne, turn onto River, and use the Ignacio Haya sidewalk to go under (across) Hillsborough Ave. You'll be able to ride into "Old" Seminole Heights this way.
There is a homeless presence under the Hillsborough bridge in the evenings. read more
