A friend and I stayed here at the courtyard Marriott in Cottonwood Heights just this past December…read more29-31. We were attending a wedding nearby. My friend and I were sharing a room. It was a two queen bed room. Nothing fancy. But there definitely was enough space for the both of us. We were both equally able to spread out and be very comfortable for those two nights that we were there. I can't say that I care for the shower in the bathrooms, but they were tolerable. The thing that I didn't like is that the shower does not have a full enclosure and the water pressure isn't great either.
The rooms are clean. There are more than enough towels for the both of us. And one thing that is so important that I really appreciated. Was that all the electrical outlets in our room worked.
The morning of the 30th I was able to dine in the hotel, café area, the lobby. They serve a limited amount but still more than enough Starbucks, coffee items. I myself stuck to drinking water. The cashier where you would place your order, at the counter, was nice enough to give me ice for my water bottle. Otherwise, I would've had to have gone to other floors to look for an ice machine. That was another thing that was kind of inconvenient. My room was located on the first floor, same as the lobby and check-in desk. That was great. However, there is no ice machine on the first floor. So, be advised, if you were somebody who uses a lot of advice all throughout the day, you might want to be on the floor, where there's an ice machine, conveniently located near your room. Just something to think about.
The girlfriend of mine that I traveled with, she arrived earlier than I did. There was no problem, checking in. The woman at the desk at the time was very friendly. However, later in the evening, when I arrived, the woman there was not so nice. I don't know what rubbed her the wrong way or why she was having a bad day, but it would've been so much nicer to have been welcomed to the hotel for my stay by somebody who not only understands how different their attitude can influence the guest's feelings about the hotel and their stay, but the whole experience from check-in til check-out too. Essentially, the person who checked me in, didn't really seem to care who I was. All she did was ask for my ID and tossed two keys at me. Literally, that was the extent of my check-in experience. For that reason, the one less star.
I really like the location of this hotel. When I first pulled in, being dropped off by an Uber ride, I wasn't able to see all that much. It was a little late in the evening. The next morning is when I realized all the little places around the hotel that would be fun to check out. There's a really great coffee spot just down the street. It was probably no more than a two or three minute walk. There was also a local brewery next-door. Their restaurant is pretty good. There are also some other really good, let's say, "ethnic" restaurants in the area. Apparently the hotel is very close to some pretty popular ski lifts. I noticed a sign-up of ski lift shuttle request folks. That was pretty cool. It's nice that the hotel provides something like this.
The hotel has a heated pool. And yes, even in the dead of winter there were people in there all throughout the day and the evening. I don't know what time they closed, but it wasn't anything super late. The only thing that kept me out of the pool was the thought of the freezing cold walk from the outdoor pool to my hotel room. I can't even imagine how cold I would've been. LOL
If I visit Utah again, I really would not mind staying here. Everything about my room and the hotel itself was very comfortable and very warm and inviting. As I mentioned, the one thing that wasn't so great was the attitude of the person that I met when I checked in for my stay. And actually, I spent a good long time in the hotel lobby having to make a few important phone calls late into the night of the 30th leading into the very early morning hours (maybe 03:00 am) of the 31st. The woman who was watching the lobby area also was very puffy and puffy. She probably wasn't thrilled that I was in the lobby. She was watching some sort of show or something on her phone. She occasionally would look over and let out a big sigh. It seemed like she wanted her privacy or for at least me to not be there. I continued to make my phone calls and conduct business as I needed it. So, sorry to the person at the check-in desk I didn't mean to bother you, but I also didn't need to hear all of your heavy sighs all throughout the evening.
