I have used RVVC for my cat for several years with friendly service and no issues. Today my 12 year…read moreold long haired cat had an appointment (it took a week to get in) with the vet for a medical evaluation on my cats bleeding/discharging inner ear and to get the cat shaved if the cats ear was going to be a simple fix. The blood and discharge was caking in his fur so getting him shaved would have helped with the odor. The cat has tumors in his mouth and ears for several years and I knew that were growing so I was expecting a grim diagnosis. The vet called me around 2:30 pm to tell me it was probably cancer. I was in a meeting and told her I would call right back. About 10 minutes later I called and said I did not want to opt for the aggressive treatment. They then sedated my cat, shaved/groomed him and applied flea control. I was charged for all of the services, an extra $105 to have him to euthanized about 10 minutes later!!! I made it clear when making the appointment and upon drop off that I wanted to be notified of his condition prior to making decisions. I would have graciously paid the vet for her medical opinon and the euthanasia. I would have been glad to pay for a groom and flea control if I had not told them just minutes before that I did not plan on taking him home. This appears to be pure greed but maybe is was a mistake in there communication. Side story Once I went to Walmart Automotive to get my tires rotate, instead they changed the oil. I told them I just had it changed and didn't need it. Walmart didn't charge me for something I didn't need and admitted is was their oversight. I would have never thought a medical professional would be greedy and not think that maybe flea control and grooming is not needed on a terminally ill cat. It was heartbreaking enough without being took advantage of over $105. My total bill was $190 and it should have been $80

Our six month old kitten was attacked by a dog. The vet I usually go to was closed, so since it…read morewas an emergency, I went to RVVC. Three years ago I swore I would never go back after the vet took all day to see my gelding who's eye was damaged in his stall the night before. This vet did such a sloppy job with the stitches that it actually damaged his eye more - left an ulcer that permanently dimmed his eye. Thankfully I found another vet to help my horse, and made a promise to myself that I would never go back to RVVC. After I complained to RVVC, they sent me a letter asking me to never come back. But I still get a letter every six months from them telling me it's time to come back for a check up. So I took this little kitten to their offices ONLY because it was an emergent situation. I called in advance to tell them we were coming. They said yes, so I drove the 30 miles to get there. When I walked in the door, they said they would not treat my kitten. I said, "He's dying". They again said "we won't help you". So much for "do no harm". Please be warned - they don't give a damn about helping animals or their owners. They are simply in it for the money. Shame on them. Oh, and Boswell Animal Clinic (another 30 miles further) was diligent and saved our cat.

Our regular vet in Commerce was out of town for a week, and our little kitty quit eating and…read moredrinking. We knew she wouldn't last until her doc returned so I called HCVC and they said bring her in as a walk-in. The wait was only about 30 min, and they were even short-staffed that day. Dr. Lindsey wanted to keep her to rehydrate her and get her to eat, which took 2 days. Dr. Lindsey printed out an estimated cost which was comparable to other local clinics. To make a long story short, it was only 4 days after that until kitty stopped eating and drinking again. Dr. Lindsey thought if we cleaned her teeth it would help, and she could examine her mouth while she was anesthetized, so we took her in for that. Dr. Lindsey called me during the procedure and told me Chica's xray showed a large tumor in her mouth and a lot of damage from it. We opted to just put her down rather than wake her up and let her die of starvation if we brought her home. We returned to the clinic to pick up her body. On arrival the staff all expressed their sorrow for our loss, put Chica in a little box for us, and they even made a clay impression keepsake of her paw prints. We just feel everyone went above and beyond to give us comfort on a terrible day.

When the vet finally came in they expressed his glands and just told me to keep an "eye" on his ass. I also told them he has a limp every time I walk him. She felt his leg for 2 seconds told me it was fine and charged 71$ just for the leg exam. The vet spent a total of 3 minutes with us but charged 300$. Super rude super overpriced and obviously don't care about helping the dogs just send the tech in to try to upsell you to 400$ of blood work and all kinds of other stuff. Felt more like a sales meeting than a visit to help my dog.
