This is one of the brand new cafeterias, bars and restaurants as this centenarian mega resort has endeavored to maintain itself as a world-class destination. The Ice complex is located on the upper floor of the Zermatt-Furi gondola terminus and the cable car to Klein Matterhorn, at an altitude of 9,640 feet. The view from the restaurant is virtually unparalleled on the planet. Surrounded by a 360-degree view of the Matterhorn, Klein Matterhorn, the Theodul Glacier and pass into Italy, as well as views of the Gornergrat and the Gorner Glacier, it is a picture-taker's paradise. 24 peaks over 4,000 meters surround the place, virtually the highest peaks in the Alps. You don't have to be a skier/boarder to get there, as there are many tourists that frequent Trockener Steg and some choose to remain at a lower altitude than the lung-challenging 13,000 feet in Klein Matterhorn.
The Ice complex has all, a cafeteria, a sit-down restaurant, and a bar. The food is modern European. Superb pastas and Swiss delicacies such as Rosti and Schnitzel. Excellent pastries - but please beware if you're lactose intolerant (like me) if you order Strudel, make sure you tell the waiter to skip the milk sauce or else you'll have your strudel coated with heavy cream sauce. Like most places in Zermatt, it definitely costs extra. But considering the view, the ambiance, and the experience, it is worth it. Spotlessly clean, friendly staff, and congenial customers that are usually finding hard to eat because their jaws are dropped from the spectacular beauty of the entire area. read more
