I have yet to find anyone who has been anything less than an advocate for my toddler and strength for me. They go above and beyond in order to assist those going through difficult times. My experience with this provider's billing practices has been extremely disappointing and, at times, frankly predatory. After receiving a billing estimate that aligned with expected copays, my insurance (Premera) incorrectly processed the claim toward the deductible. Instead of proactively working with the insurer to resolve the discrepancy, the provider immediately attempted to collect the higher amount from me. When I questioned this, I was told estimates can be inaccurate, with no effort made on their end to investigate or advocate with the insurer. The structure of services also raises concerns. A straightforward pediatric psychological evaluation was broken into multiple billable components--intake interview, nurse-led evaluation, physician documentation, and results discussion--each charged separately. Additional "material fees" were applied for what appeared to be basic printed paperwork, on top of copays. Time overages during the evaluation were billed in small increments (10-15 minutes) at very high rates, quickly escalating the total cost. When the insurance error was eventually acknowledged and corrected, late fees were still applied during a period when billing had been requested to be placed on hold. Despite clear documentation, those fees were not addressed. Equally concerning was the tone of communication throughout this process--responses were often dismissive, aggressive, and focused on payment demands rather than resolution. The entire experience was unnecessarily stressful and required significant time and effort to manage. Patients should be prepared to closely monitor billing, question charges, and advocate for themselves at every step. Transparency and patient support were notably lacking here. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! If I could give zero or negative stars, I would. Be prepared to be given an estimate of charges and billed way more than what was estimated. We were given an estimate for our child's Autism Diagnosis and then billed for additional things that were NEVER even mentioned. I called multiple times prior to our appointment to really understand what we would be charged and billed for and what we were billed for was DRASTICALLY different than what we were told before the appointment. WHATEVER YOU DO - DO NOT PUT A CREDIT CARD ON FILE! THEY WILL CONTINUE TO RANDOMLY CHARGE YOU FOR ADDITIONAL SERVICES THAT YOU MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE ACTUALLY RECEIVED. Go somewhere else even if it is a longer wait for services. The headache from dealing with this company is absolutely NOT worth it! read more

Your provider perhaps referred you here and ours did too. We wanted to consult at Seattle Children's but the wait was so long that we decided to seek diagnostic care here. While nothing is wrong with their methods of assessment, care and diagnosis, things are horribly wrong and unethical in how they bill patients. First, if possible, find care somewhere else. Second, when filling patient registration form, please do not put your credit card on file. You will be surprised how incorrectly you've been billed after every visit. Third, seek clarification on every transaction you've been billed. They not only bill for direct services, that is when they see you or your child or both, but also for indirect services like forms, paperwork and time spent filling that paperwork. Before our actual visit, our provider decided to spend two days to finish writing our child's assessment report, so we had to pay 3 copays, one for actual visit and 2 copays for each consecutive day provider spent in writing the report. The provider could have easily finished writing the report in a day but she took 2 days so they billed the insurance company for 2 days. That's just incorrect and unethical not to mention inefficient. They charge the patient for their's staff's inefficiency. Tomorrow, someone will take a week to write a report, are they going to bill for the task or every day spent doing that task? PLEASE FIND CARE SOMEWHERE ELSE. No wonder this place is so poorly rated. read more

If I could give - stars I would. You jump through hoops to get I can information regarding your child and no one communicates or know who does what or how much things cost. Do NOT BRING YOUR children here you will jump through hoops and end up months down the process trying to get your child the help. Scam company. They treat you like you want to steal for them. They overcharge you even though the insurance covers everything. Zero care for clients. They missed a year of services for my son because I didn't accept their threats of fees if you don't pay at the time of the consultation (that they didn't ask). Please be aware that ICAN charges outrageous fees even with good healthcare insurance plan. For example, $100.00 materials fee for less than an hour of initial consultation. And that wouldn't be covered by insurance at all. And they wIll recommend all kind of assessments too. That will rack up all kinds of bills too. I'm not saying those recommendations were ungrounded (which were hard for me and I guess most people visiting to know). Just be very careful to discern. When you feel desperate on your child's performance on speech and communications, you suspect that your child may have developed Autism, and think ICAN would be your child's life savor, you and your family becomes a piece of delicious meat for ICAN. Your first step with them is a set of lengthy evaluations and tests, which are usually very expensive even if you have great health insurance. But no worries as these charges are just some appetite to them. After your child gets onboard, you will get numerous charges every and each day. If you have a good health insurance with them, the amount of those charge might not be very large ($13 - $50), but the number of charges in every day will surprise you. The magic part is that you never know what is the reason of each charge. I was thinking if their clerk made some duplicate charges, you will never know the truth and think they are normal charges. The more magic part is that they don't send you a monthly statement, even after you ask for it. During the 2-month period with ICAN, I always thought my credit card has become a free ATM for them: they keep charging my card, and I never know if a particular charge is expected or fraudulent. The above experience is for the case that you have a good health insurance with ICAN. For me, it is during the middle of 09/2018 through the end of 10/2018. Starting from 11/1/2018, I had an insurance change and the new one is not well accepted by ICAN. My nightmare came, and I was charged more than $2,000 for the 10 days. I don't know why they charged me $200 today and $400 tomorrow. I immediately decide to withdraw from ICAN as I can't tolerate such robbery. The most magic part is that more than 1 year later, in 10/2019 - 1/2020, I was still called by ICAN people for another $1,000 charge. I asked for the particular reason, they claimed they missed some charges one year ago. Again, I never know if it is reasonable or just fraudulent as they never gave me any official statement explaining each charge. I want to fight but I got no clue or evidence, so I decide to pay it to avoid ruining my excellent credit history. The last 10 days with a "bad" insurance cost me more than $3,000. Amazing? The most ugly part is that I didn't observe any visible improvement on my son's speech or communications after spending $7,000+ with ICAN, after my health insurance discount. I truly felt that I was robbed. I am seriously considering a class lawsuit to this evil place, as I believe they may not be able to explain each charge clearly and there is a large space and motivation for them to cheat you, given their financial practice: no description of charges, no monthly statement, duplicate charges, random charges, and so on. My experience with ICAN is 100% authentic and real. Think three times before you talk to ICAN. You local school district usually provides special education to you child in a much more reliable way. read more

This is very very unprofessional institute where nobody know what needs to been. I have submitted paperwork (Intake) for my son 3 weeks. I called at least 20 times, each time, either no response or got the message that person looking for the papers is not available. And after 3 weeks, I get answer that my form is not with them.... How unprofessional any institute can be. I am not planning to submit my son's form again. If you are so unprofessional, how can you handle special need people. There are wonderful therapists or were some have left with the take over by ICAN. The once for patient care feel has been lost by ICANs required cc on file and all payments upfront. The office staff is unfriendly and unwilling to work with you. I didn't feel comfortable leaving a credit card on file. I asked to pre pay my portion a month at a time and they refused! I'm not the one to always take my child and can't have others cover his appointments because they dont have my credit card. Yet their policies are if you don't pay day of, they charge 35 dollars, which tells me the new owners are more about the money and less about good care for patients or compromising to offer equal arrangements. This place is driving families and therapists away! Don't go there unless you are ready for hidden fees and paying upfront and want to be treated as a number. I contacted 4-5 places and this place had the shortest waitlist for ABA. I can see why. This was pretty much a waste of time and money for us. Our first few weeks seemed to be going well but then our behavior technician quit. There was so much behavior technician turnover here. In our four months of ABA (4 days a week), we had 11 different behavior technicians (BT)! How are you supposed to maintain consistent data tracking and control your variables (ABA relies on consistent data tracking)? Not only that, everyone knows our kiddos need consistency, having a different BT every day does not cut it. In our 4th month, we thought they had finally hired someone consistent to stay with us but then she was switched over to another patient! I felt like they treated us as low priority so we decided to end our time there. What a frustrating experience! read more

I'm so thankful I found Lakeside!! They were able to get my son in pretty quick for an evaluation, they diagnosed him and he's already starting therapy. Before I heard about Lakeside, I called Children's to schedule an appointment and I was told it would be a 8 month waiting list! I can't imagine having to wait 8 months to get a diagnosis. Because of Lakeside, I'll be able to have all the information I need before he starts Kindergarten. I would highly recommend going to Lakeside! read more

incompetent personnel - they don't know how to engage and create an interest so the child will like to go there; the techniques that they used are definitely difficult to witness - three of the technicians were blocking my 6 yr old so he would submit to follow their directions. I couldn't stand to watch, got my child and left and within hours I was sent an email by the president of the institution that we cannot receive services there any more (they really "care" about the well-being of the children). The admin staff is not better as well. After failing to sign an attendance form which I had signed many times before, within 3 days, the department manager sends me a ridiculous and unprofessional email that as they have not received that form, the services will be terminated and that is after we have been going there since sept 2013. etc etc ineffective programming - my child did not make any progress after going there from sept 2013 exuberant costs - 1.5 yrs there and I paid between $15-20k and that is after having the best insurance coverage through Microsoft read more

Although I feel that the center gave a fairly detailed report on my son, over a series of visits. It was fairly expensive...however, I was willing to pay out of pocket to get some answers. I was then surprised to find out that my insurance did end up paying Lakeside a large portion of these visits. However, that money was never passed onto me. When I called to find out about the money owed and why this was "overlooked" and what was their process was to reimburse clients... they had no answers. Because they have grown too big too fast, Most of the therapist have no experience or very less experience. No one to supervise or guide. Your child is treated like a number rather . They claim to provide integrated services. But my child's OT, ST never even looked into his psychologist report .Neither do they talk to each other or find time for co-ordination. We are at different places (very reputed and established) for Speech, OT and ABA. I arrange regular meetings between the therapist and we have seen tremendous progress - which was missing at Lakeside. Sad Lakeside failed on a mission that it was set to start with! read more

I met in the center a few very friendly and nice speech and occupational therapists. My family has been on the ABA waiting list for a few months and we didn't know that they have very limited spots for clinic ABA services, but only the preschool format. We started from two days of preschool when they offered that. But in one month they started enforced me to take 5 days or nothing. In my opinion, it was very aggressive marketing, and I felt tired after a few discussions with different therapists and managers. I suppose that the clinic format is more convenient and it give parents more information and advice about his child treatment that very important for success. After my refusal to take 5 days of preschool our speech therapist let me know that they are not interested in working with my son's behavioral problems. Also, I felt a genuine irritation and neglecting from a few specialists. I believe that in this center there are no exclusive services and specialists that you could not meet anywhere else. But if you try to understand the details of the therapy, trying to choose specialists and methods that would fit your child better, you may become an "inconvenient client" and realize that you have lost a lot of time. read more
