2nd Best in town…read more We've been in San Vincenzo before and know this place from last time. So we came back this year and hoped it would still be as good. And it's still pretty much the same (mostly in a good way). After it was fully booked on the weekend we came back on a weekday....plenty of tables left. We had some warm Crostini for a starter with two glasses of Spritz (Prosecco with Aperol). A really good choice. Crostini topped with fatty Pancetta, meat, paprika-spread, tomato, artichokes and radicchio. Good to share for two. For the mains we had the Seafood Spaghetti and Pasta with crema di Porcini. The Seafood Pasta is still great. The Pasta with Crema was new to us....interesting combination and very filling. We had some house wine with that (half liter for 4 Euros!). The service was - and this hasn't changed - a bit basic. But the reason could also be that the service doesn't speak much english - and our skills in italian are not really good too. But that's fine....we got what we wanted. And dogs are welcome too! It's a really good restaurant. Our #2 in town (behind "Xke Qua"). Be sure not to miss it, since it's a bit on the northern end of town, but beside a huge parking lot. Surely would go back. Prices are fair too.

Very nice staff and perfect food for the money! We will be back ;-) place is situated at a parking…read morespace close to the city center, very calm and nice spot to enjoy a good meal before going to the sea or city center... Thumbs up!

My 400th Yelp review is dedicated to what might have been my favorite meal in Italy: Castagnetum…read moreHostaria. The whole place was run by one woman, who was running around like a chicken with her head cut off, but she was lovely. Didn't speak much English, but we got along fine, and she brought us so much delicious food. We started with a selection of bread, which they make in house, and then the food just kept coming. The fresh spaghetti was outrageously delicious. My husband was wanting something without meat to start, so he asked for spaghetti pomodoro, which wasn't on the menu, but ended up being one of the best things we ate in Italy. He claims it may have been one of the best things he's eaten in his life. The pasta was perfect, dressed with olive oil, salt and pepper, and fresh tomato. So simple, and so good. A friend had the same spaghetti with meat ragu, which was clearly freshly ground and so tasty. I had the risotto with zucchini to start, which was light, creamy, and flavorful. For our main course, my husband had a steak, which was cooked to perfection and served with mushrooms and cheese. I had gnocchi with mussels and fried sage. So much flavor and texture. A friend who was with us had been sick and this was his first meal in a while, so he requested plain potatoes and white rice. They brought him the most delicious plain potatoes and white rice...the rice was essentially plain risotto. The house red wine was tasty, to boot. We ended up ordering the pistachio flan to go and ate it back at our hotel. It was not a Mexican-style flan; it was more of a buttery, pistachio-y lava cake. We fought over the last bite, it was so good. Thank you, Castagnetum Hostaria, for a most delicious meal!
