As the previous reviewer says, the Ibis is in a perfect location, right in the center of the vielle ville and right on the Thiou river. My room overlooked the pond and weir, and it was quite pleasant to wake up every morning to ducks and a family of swans with little cygnets.
I was in Annecy for work, so was looking for an inexpensive but nice hotel. You can really trust the French hotel rating system - three stars means a basic, but clean and nice room with an en-suite bathroom, and that's exactly what you get. Nothing special, but certainly comfortable and clean, if a bit small. The free wifi was sufficient for my purposes, including wifi phone calls that saved me a roaming fee.
The hotel is about four blocks from the main Annecy train station, and three blocks from the center of the major city-bus stops. Just walk straight out the front door of the train station and continue until you cross the river, and it's right there. It's located on one of the many islets in the river. A stroll along these islets in the evening is a most pleasant affair, that includes many sidewalk cafés and shops along the river or in small courtyards. A great place to find breakfast or dinner, with really good food.
Breakfast at the hotel is pricey at 10euros, but pretty amazing! Sliced cold-cuts and cheese, fruit, yogurt, cereal and great pastries. There's also a coffee machine that will make a great café-au-lait or a latte on demand. One unique feature is the boil-your-own egg station. Something for everyone!
Overall, the Ibis gave me a basic, but very pleasant stay and a good start to each day. I would definitely stay there again, and would return to Annecy just as a tourist at any chance! read more
