There are a lot of ibises in Geneva. My boyfriend and I went to two other ones, before we finally arrived at this one on Rue de Berne, which was the correct one. I blame him since he was the navigator. I have to say, he's usually good at directions but I guess he didn't think there were so many of these in this city. But trust me, I was ready to kill him after the second wrong location. We did finally find it on a pretty busy street. Here's the good and the bad:
Pros:
1. Very clean - the rooms and even the hotel itself are very clean and modern. I've stayed at numerous Ibis Hotels, and this is definitely the quality I expected.
2. Lots of restaurants nearby, but mainly middle eastern. The restaurant we ate at a few doors down (Parfums de Beyrouth, which was Lebanese) was very good and a great value.
3. Less than a 10-minute walk from the train station.
Cons:
1. The neighborhood is a tad shady. After 10 pm, there are prostitutes roaming the streets. And this is not speculation. My boyfriend actually heard a man say to a woman, "show me the goods", and then she flashed him.
I think that it probably could have earned an extra star if it weren't for its sketchy location. But from my short time in Geneva, it feels like Geneva itself is pretty sketchy, so I'm not sure Ibis can really be at fault for that. read more
