I don't even know where to begin with this place. It's the same as every other little tourist-aimed, "I love *enter city name*" shack that you'll find on this planet, complete with postcards, lighters, shot glasses, and of course clothes that will inform the people around you that you have, in fact, been to Scotland. BUT my experience here is a little more unique than just picking up a trinket on my travels.
In July/August of 2015 I was performing at the fringe festival in Edinburgh with my high school. On a very travel heavy day, as I was walking down the Royal Mile I realized I needed something to carry my load of belongings that overflowed from my jean pockets. I walked into this "I Love Scotland" goldmine and asked for a drawstring bag. Now this drawstring bag.....was the best purchase I have ever made in my life. It was a blue bag with a white X on it (the flag of Scotland ) and ever since that July/August day in 2015 that bag has held my belongings. Day after day. I'm pretty sure I've spent more days with the bag on my back than without. And the damage that the bag has taken in the past 4 years and 7 months? WHAT DAMAGE!?? This thing has minor bumps and bruises and doesn't show any sign of stopping soon. It's a godforsaken tank. An absolute unit. This bag should be body armor for soldiers. Studied by scientists for its indestructible capabilities. This bag would save your life in a car crash, not by softening the blow, but by pulling the unconscious passengers out of the wreckage and performing CPR on them. It's an incredible feat of engineering and matter. God trembles at the power of the bag.
So overall, what I'm trying to say is...thank you I Love Scotland store. Thank you for the incredible bag and the memories that have come with it. £8 was never better spent. read more
